A certain ex gf traumatised me into believing I am obese :)

haha jokes aside, this pic is after dropping a fair bit of bf%, I am not sure what my level is at present (as in the picture), but I will get it tested early next week.

I am worried that I am looking skinny fat :(

Anyway, will post up more pics, and then you'll can give me a vote if I should continue cutting, bulking etc...

Haha thanks for the positive comments people... surprising how damaging comments can be from someone who is close to you...

Ijust realised since those comments I'd become very self conscious.

She even kept nagging that I stop deadlifting and squatting so my ass doesn't get bigger.

I made the right choice about who to keep in my life: DEADLIFTS!

  • 2 weeks later...

At 33% body fat you would have been obese. I'm sure I was up around those numbers when I was over 90kgs (now under 70, 5'10").

If you were 33% then someone needed to say something and you needed to do something. Sounds like you have, which is excellent. You've done something a lot of people never get their head around.

I'm all for the encouragement above but I think people are being over-sensitive about a serious health issue :)

agreed

everyones allowed to say someone looks skinny and needs to eat more but no ones allowed to tell the fatty's to put down the pies or they cry about it.

Not sure I agree with that...I don't think people are encouraged to tell skinny folks they're "too thin"...

To an extent, skinny folks are "rewarded" for being underweight by being exempt a lot of the issues faced by the overweight.

Fact is, tho, anyone who takes control of their own life the hard way and builds themself a wicked body one heavy lift at a time, is to be congratulated

i didnt say they were encouraged i said they were allowed, as in people think its acceptable and dont think it hurts the person. its the same thing as telling a overweight person there too fat, were facing an obesity crisis because it has become a acceptable part of society.

in reality the kind thing to do is tell someone there overweight and living an unhealthy lifestyle in the hope that they will take a look at themselves and change how there living and avoid a heap of health problems and live a much richer life, put down the pies!

OK, i see what you meant, agree entirely...and yes, sometimes the kindest thing you can do is show someone how it could be...it's kinda off topic but this is what can be achieved when people get motivated.

It's made worse, I think, by things like the size creep...when a pair of 96cm jeans really does fit a 96cm waist, and not a 108cm...then we'll get people realising what's happening.

I was at San Francisco airport a while back, watched someone push a wheelchair down to the gate, and thought "What's wrong with that chair?"...it was a "double wide" - and it had duallies on the back...two tyres per side! ...

I'm just glad I stopped the rot before I needed one myself

I don't know if skinny people are 'rewarded' for how thin they are? Don't you think that people are often more judgemental towards a skinny person than a bigger person? Obesity is becoming more acceptable as it becomes more widespread.

Definately agree there TFB - big ups to anybody that has a better body through hard work.

It might be the kind thing to do - however that seems like an easy way to ruin a friendship? I have a couple of overweight friends and I can't really think of a 'gentle' way to tell them that - can you? :-s

i am compelled to give an opinion on this, about 3 months ago i was a sedentary overweight individual, though noone ever said anything to me. was 84kgs and 5ft 10", 'skinny fat', so high as bf%. Now im 72kgs, bf around 12-14%, nearly have abs for the first time in my life.. while i regard my training very seriously, i actually get shit now at work for having shakes, for always having preprepared food, never eating crap etc. So now that ive changed my life for the better i get ridiculed!

funny how the world works.. i find satisfaction in knowing that when all is said and done and i am acheiving my goals, i will be having the last laugh.

but more to the point, i wish someone amongst my mates woulda maybe said something to me, i may have done something about it years ago....

I get this as well. I just use it as a testament to my dedication and self control :) (and to the ignorance of most people :P)
