Starting to see definition - delts are getting lean enough to distinguish medial/anterior, obliques (on a good day) and even lats not getting lost at junction w/rib cage.

Long ways to go, and a lot of tuna before I stop, tho! Thanks morala :)

You'll have to have a wee think mate. So what was your starting weight and what are you now? I was 110kgs just over 2 years ago with my 2nd kid, back down to 40kg loss 70.6kgs

That's an awesome weight loss - well done! At my heaviest abt 5 years ago I was 136kg...

Hit the gym in mid '04, started with baby steps, progressed to cycling (Lake Taupo Cycle challenge in '05), running (Harbour Capital 10k's my fave) and weights for conditioning. Only really started bb-like training and dieting in Sep '07, when I'd made it to 110kg n 24.5%.

You 2 are amazing.

...even trying to log a new PB in the Harbour Capital 10k in June...

Just curious... What was your previous time?

Why thank you ! Either on the bike or on foot, I'm a slug...best time for the 10k is 64mins, which had me 593rd of 891.... so three-quarters of the way down the pack. Now, if there were choccie at the finish line :pfft:

Guilty! Was me.

I wouldn't worry about your run times TFB, it's finishing that counts. It's why I pretty much gave up Triathlon - I just don't have the feet for running!

..I thought it was, and a very nice solution it is too....

I'm still amazed that I can run 10k at all....but then the ol' competitive red mist comes down and I wanna be faster, stronger, all the Six Million Dollar Man cliches!

When it comes to cycling, I listen to the roadies bragging on how they saved 20 grammes here, 100g there, with their titanium and carbon fibre...I lost whole bicycles-worth of weight..so "beat that, sucka!"

No training for three days...goin' crazy, but then again so was work :(

Gonna hit the gym again with a vengeance, got a new programme with some mean rest-pauses on big compound exercises - how does four counts down, four counts hold, four counts up, for 20 reps of bb squats or db press sound?. Factor in a 9-week carb taper to burn some fat, and some intense cardio, and I'll either get lean or bust!

OMG  That sounds like some kind of Cuban torture technique!!

I put the Eddie Merxx (my bike) on the wind trainer today for some cardio - so I'll be able to share some pain with ya!! But not that count of four torture stuff!

Sunday 4 May

Chest-shoulders - new routine

Warm-up: Incline D.B press 20 reps @ 15kg*

Incline D.B press:

6@ 25kg* (1 sec down, 0 hold, 1s up) 2min rest

8@ 20kg* (3 sec down, 2 sec hold, 1s up) 1 min rest

20@ 15kg (4 sec down, 4 sec hold, 4s up) 1 min rest

(well, that's what it should have been, it was 10@ 15kg, 10@12kg* )

Incline D.B flies:

6@ 25kg* (1 sec down, 0 hold, 1s up)

8@ 20kg* (3 sec down, 2 sec hold, 1s up)

20@ 15kg* (4 sec down, 4 sec hold, 4s up)

Pec Dec - Dropset, 30 reps,

8ea at 42/35/28kg, 6@21kg - chest absolutely farked

Clean and Press

3x 12 reps 1st set at 25kg, 2nd and 3rd at 20kg

Side raises

3x 12 reps - 3 sets of 12 at 7kg*

Upright Rows

6@40kg (1sec up, 0 hold, 1s down) 2m rest

8@ 30kg (3 sec up, 2s hold, 1s down) 1m rest

20@ 20kg (4 sec up, 4s hold, 4s down)

That is such a brutal workout...I was warned it was no 'walk in the park', but knocking out twenty incline DB presses on 4s down, 4s hold at full tension, 4s up was agony.

It's a four-day split - chest-shoulders, legs, back-triceps and biceps-abs. Add in some cardio (30-40 mins on the bike/ wind trainer before brekkie, and 3x 30-40min indoor or outdoor runs) and a carb taper for 10 weeks and that new avi will (hopefully) be overdue!

Well done - I shall think of you in the mornings! I "love" my wind trainer, but thank goodness I'm not doing the before-bed stuff as well this time around. Put the MP3 player on, grind it out, it's gotta be good for ya!

I've got one of those tall electric fans ($20 from Briscoes), put it in front of you, I find it helps!

Hidey ho TFB.. are you gonna do the NZBB challenge?

Seriously thinking about it, since it overlaps nicely with a carb-taper phase. Nothing like posting pics on the interweb to keep a fellas hands out of the pb jar, eh!

Thanks Queen - yes, today's workout was brutal, OMG was it BRUTAL

Tuesday 6 May - Legs.

Warm up:

Leg extensions 30 reps at 30kg - so far so good.

Wide S.M squats

6 reps at 80kg, 1s down, 0 hold, 1s up - so far so good, PT says should have been 100kg

8 reps at 60kg, 3s down, 2s hold, 1s up. Not so pretty

20 reps at 40kg, 4s down, 4s hold, 4s up....OMG WTFWT! Had to strip the weights half way thru, damn near :puke: , absolutely shattered. Trainer tweaked the angles, absolutely hammered the quads into oblivion

Walking D.B lunges

3x 10 each, 7kg dbs. 1 set of straights, 1 set of two-pulses, 1 set of three-pulses...soooo not pretty.

Lying leg curls

(1x warm up 15)

6 reps at 40kg, 1s up, 0 hold, 1s down

8 reps at 20kg, 3s up, 2s hold, 1s down

20 reps at 7.5kg, 4s up, 4s hold, 4s down...happy I dropped the weight, meant I could complete the set without hurling!

Stiff-legged deadlifts

3 x 12 reps at 60kg, 3/4 up to keep the tension.

It's now 2 hours later, my hams and glutes are on fire, quads are dull embers, and I'm so brain-faded it's un-freakin-believable.

Thank goodness tomorrow's cardio - spin class means I can do my dying sitting down \:D/
