No one should have to explain their own personal choices in life, whether it be clothes, length of hair, tattoos etc.

That said I think you are being unfair on your friends and family in condemning their attitude towards B.B.

Let me explain it this way.

I coach a junior football team & we have a Afghani refugee in the squad.

Now without thinking too long, quickly do your own ‘word association’ with Afghanistan.

Get a list of 10 words you think of when you see/hear Afghanistan.

My bet is most lists would include ‘Taliban’, ‘terrorist’ or similar negative connotation.

In reality this is a well balanced lad with a beaming smile on his face with a supportive family.

Not a Klashnikov or burka in sight.

Now if we did a similar exercise on any suburban street with the word ‘Bodybuilding’ I would suggest ‘steroids’ and ‘Arnold Swarzenegger’ would feature.

Who’s fault is this?

Just as much as the Afghani refugees hate explaining they are not gun-totting religious fanatics, Bodybuilders just have to get use to defending the perception the public is feed via the media.

That’s the way it works.

crazy i went to the doctor the other week for my depo shot and had the doc ask if i had an eating disorder as id lost alot of weight since my last visit. i was like 'ah thanks but no'. wanted to cry tho cos i thought i was muscly not skinny, cow!

But the thing that is pissing me off at the moment are friends that look at me and say stupid things like 'oh your so skinny, im so jealous your so lucky, my body just isnt made to be small'

I just let loose on one of them other other day saying "That is the biggest load of crap iv heard. LUCKY? LUCKY? i work my freaken ass off to lose all this weight and get toned, i slogg it out hour after hour at the gym eating only what im suppose to. maybe if you stopped looking for quick fix remedies for weight loss and actually stuck to something you might get to the size you want." it just came out, i couldnt stop it. id had enough of people telling me im 'lucky' it bloody well has nthing to do with luck but hard work. grrr :x

ahh felt much better after my rant.

Im not in aux so ya dont have to worry,

wasnt my usual docter, docter Thai i think it was. I wont be going back again ill tell you that much!

but the steriod issue really gets me going, ive had freinds i havent seen for months say "every time i see you your bigger, you on the roids" , apparently you cant gain size with out it. im not bagging steriods just wish people didint think that its the only option and hard work doesnt count for anything these days on the gear or not.

end of rant

  • 1 month later...

I was at my mother in law's place and wanted a snack so I asked if I could have an apple. She asked "Is that it? Don't you want some real food?"

Since when has fruit not been considered a "real" food? Maybe I should've eaten the donuts on the bench?

Yeah I get it often. What sport do you do? Weights training is not a sport. If doing what we do is not a sport I dont know. Its a 24hour commitment. Get enough sleep, eat enough of the right food at the right time. Train hard 4-5 times a week.

That sounds like slightly harder work to me than say rugby practice twice a week. I think people who dont do bodybuilding or get that rush out of an awsome pump just cant understand
