Throw in a deload, a bit of comp atmosphere, whatever that trick is you still have up your sleeve and 300 here we come!

I've been training really hard lately so I think a good deload before Nat's will help immensely. Especially for my deadlift because I've been pounding my back so much. Anyway my "trick" (as I said) for squats is to squat against bands and chains for the first time. Hopefully this'll push me up to 300 for Oceania's - I think this a pretty realistic goal.

Great squatting. Get that bodyweight up to 110kg and manage your training and recovery and 300kg is very realistic. Good to see such big numbers for a sub junior. Exciting times ahead bro.

I got a bad feeling me and Blair weighed ourselves wrong the other week and I'm over 110.

Thanks 2guns & SM. 2guns, do you remember saying this at the start of the year?

1. 300kg/661lb Squat

2. 165kg/364lb Bench

3. 300kg/661lb Deadlift

4. 120kg/265lb Push Press

As a full 110kg/242lbs lifter

those goals are abit hefty for u mike

Excluding a few prehab sessions (which I may or may not log), that's it until National's on the 15th. I weigh in at 1pm, lift at 3. Here's what my attempts will look like:

Squat: 260, 280, 285-290

Bench: 140, 150, 155-160

Deadlift: 260, 280, 295-300

So pretty conservative. I'll be happy to get 720kg and hope to go at least 6 for 9. I have a few car loads worth of mates that are road tripping down with me, so it should be a blast - am looking forward to it. Until then I just gotta look after myself, eat healthy, take my vitamins, no more drinking and no more silly business (like this, haha:

Went to the gym today for a really light session - hips/abs/upper back/biceps and did some hip mobility work.

Weighed in at 106.5, fully clothed. Which is a bit of a shock with the way I've been eating. Will have to up the calories more. I guess because I've been bulking for so long my metabolism is pumping hard. At least I don't have to worry about making weight.

Alright, I didn't have the best day. Only got my openers on squat & bench and went 4/9 in total.

Squat

1st attempt - 260kg - 2 whites, 1 red. Not sure what the red was for. Groove a little off, lost it forward slightly out of the hole but still smoked it.

2nd attempt - 280kg - 3 reds. Lost it forward out of the hole again, couldn't recover.

3rd attempt - 280kg - 3 reds. Better, but out of gas. Almost got it through my sticking point.

Bench

1st attempt - 140kg - 3 whites. Collar high for an easy touch & press. I was real shaky waiting for the start command as I hadn't gotten enough food into me.

2nd attempt - 155kg - 3 reds. Easy touch, not enough at the top.

3rd attempt - 155kg - 3 reds. Same again... Frustrating.

Deadlift

1st attempt - 260kg - 3 whites. Smoked.

2nd attempt - 280kg - 3 whites. Smoked.

3rd attempt - 300kg - 3 reds. Thought I have nothing to lose, almost locked it out. Next time.

Total

680kgs - pretty under me. Weighed in at 105 flat well hydrated and with food in the stomach, I think was the reason why I didn't do as well as I wanted to. A little disappointed but I got a lot out of both days. I need to be a lot more conservative and methodical with my attempts. I have a completely new mentality there which I won't go into right now. I have a lot of new ideas for training and about the lifts in general (mainly thanks to Rona). I know what I need to work on and I'm inspired after seeing a specifc few lifting yesterday. Bring on Oceanias, individual goals for each lift then are 300/180/317.5, total goal 772.5. I am more psyched about my training than ever, time to get serious, train hard and put on a good 6-7kgs.

Hey bro, well done on your first Nationals and congrats on the title and the new records. You're a freggin machine young fella. wish I could have been there in the weekend but family commitments to attend to. Hearing the results certainly got me pumped to go and train but that lasted only 10sec after Mrs Tonka made 2kg of schnitzel for dinner last night...yeah buddy!!

I talked with Barbender ® and he mentioned that you had some good talks with him down south. What I should do is get onto Mike G and the rest of the boys down at ESB and get them to organise a training work shop. We have been talking about it for a while now and I think taking advantage of barbenders knowledge would be benefitual for all. Talk to Mike G and the boys again bro. They were talking about paying air fares/accomodation etc...it would be great to get together and do something like that!

Rest up bro and enjoy the break. Im sure you'll be back in the gym within the week because guys like us cant help staying out.

Train hard bro and keep in touch.

Stay strong

T

Argh, we're our own worst critics aren't we? Just watched the vid... Sooo close with the 155kg bench!

But well done on the comp Mike  The experience in itself is worth its weight in gold, and your motivation seems sky high now.
