Total - 655kg/1444lbs

65kg Comp PR

Awesome result considering you entered in at the last min... Congrats! And well done on your bench.. I'd be hella stoked if I got an extra 10kgs on my bench PR lifter.gif

Highlight of the day: Mike G's 255kg Deadlift in the 67.5kg class and now as a master. Insane...

Holy @!*$!! eek2.gif

Thanks poos. Want to build on that total a lot this weekend. Mike Gardiner is a machine, approaching the massive 4x bodyweight Deadlift mark...

about 10" , then lost it over my face.

I see what you did there.

Passive/Recovery Workout

Circuit

Hammer Curls - 3 x 15

Tricep Pressdown - 3 x 15

Leg Extension - 3 x 15

Dumbbell Curls - 3 x 15

Band Good Mornings - 3 x 15

Face Pulls - 3 x 15

Good to get some blood flowing, especially in the old elbows... And that's it until the meet.

It seems you won. Lucky that guy missed his bench!

I got the biggest total but didn't win on points. Darron Brown scored higher than me and Mike G would've as well, but for some reason his points weren't calculated on that scoresheet.

Central Districts Champs Report

Weighed in at 103.9kgs this week.

Squat

1st Attempt - 230kg/507lbs - 3 whites - deep.

2nd Attempt - 245kg/540lbs - 3 whites - walkout was messy I could feel the bar slipping off my back, had to wait for the squat command for a good while. Thought no way I was going to get it but got at least 6-8" below par and came up with a good grind.

3rd Attempt - 250kg/551lbs (5kg PR) - 3 whites - not as deep as the last but still well good enough.

Bench Press

1st Attempt - 135kg/297lbs - 3 whites - had the shirt choking me again like my opener last week. Had to wait a while for the start command while I flattened out my heels. Touch seemed too easy and easy press.

2nd Attempt - 155kg/342lbs - 3 reds - jacked the shirt. Pressed it up but it went down slightly before I continued the press. Touch was too easy again, don't think my shirt was giving me enough support this week.

3rd Attempt - 155kg/342lbs - 3 reds - couldn't press it out. Shirt felt like it was giving me little support. I got this weight last week but not happening today. Missing this was ouch for the total.

Deadlift

1st Attempt - 260kg/573lbs - 2 whites, 1 red - Got the red for not locking out fully, not pulling my shoulders back.

2nd Attempt - 272.5kg/601lbs - 3 reds - Reds were for the same reason as that single red above.

3rd Attempt - 272.5kg/601lbs - 3 reds - Same as above.

Total - 645kg/1422lbs

A few things I need to work on before nationals. Will write up my plan of attack in another post.

How are the scores calculated, Mike? I always assumed it was purely judged on the weight lifted, or possibly a comparison between the weight lifted and the lifter's weight. It's obviously more complicated than that, then?

Woooo.. what with the intensity, the actual lifting, and the nervousness.. Flip! You must be wasted by the end of the day!

Great summary vid  What a cool tool to gauge your comp progress. Awesome squatting! Got your head in good space despite the messy walkout thumb.gif Bummer about the lockouts and bench shirt giving you troubles.. But it sounds like you've got things sorted for how you're gonna approach Nationals

Thanks TFB, OB and Poos.

Still resting up since Saturday. Body was beat up bad, especially the elbows, which were killing me after squatting & benching for about a month leading up to the first meet, but I was just trying to tough it out until after while they were deteriorating. So I'm getting a good amount of rest before starting up again. Starting to feel good now. I'm really itching to get back into my training, but I'll hold back everything until Sunday. Looking forward to getting into this new cycle. I respond well to volume and this has more of it than I think ever before.

Same as always: ME Bench, ME Squat, DE Bench, ME Deadlift. But with more volume, more periodization, more work on weak points, more emphasis on technique (especially in equipment) and more deloads!!!

Big Boy for 15, and not bad strength levels.

I tided up his Bench a bit, hand grip he was gripping the bar to high in his palms, foot placement was bit off, figured out his strongest position for benching. He had a tendancy to J Press on the up, then when he came back down the bar was to high up his chest. So just got him to reposition the bar after each rep, told him to drop the weight, up the reps and get his line better.

See he is thinking of doing the Open at the end of the year.

Hey man, I'm going to be down in Nelson from the 16th to the 25th of June. I have a feeling that Canterbury have a stupid timetable this year and you won't be back eh? Anyway, what's the best gym price/equipment wise to go to while I'm there?

michael i am interested to know what your diet is like. bodybuilding obviously has alot to do with what foods u eat/when what ...what about what ur doin, do u stick a "healthy" diet or what?

Check out old-bulls log; viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2107&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=220

Thats after i asked him about his diet and the response he gave, just as an idea.

So a rule of thumb is eat a LOT of good protein rich foods

Entry #224: Sunday 04/05/2008

1. Floor Press w/ 30kg Chains

1 x 40kg/88lbs x 8

1 x 50kg/110lbs x 5

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 3

1 x 70kg/154lbs x 3

1 x 80kg/176lbs x 1

1 x 90kg/198lbs x 3 PR

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 0...

90kg was easy, 100kg was killing my elbows so I didn't try.

2. Close Grip Bench Press

1 x 70kg/154lbs x 5

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

3. Tricep Pressdown

5 x 10

4. Seated Cable Row

4 x 8

5. Face Pulls

3 x 10

Other notes:

First session back kinda wrecked by my elbows, didn't get to do the exercises I wanted to. Going to have to be trial and error until I find a way to work around this.
