1. Squats

Equipment: Cent 42, Knee Wraps, Belt

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 10

1 x 95kg/209lbs x 5

1 x 120kg/265lbs x 3

1 x 145kg/320lbs x 1

*added belt, straps up*

1 x 170kg/375lbs x 1

*added wraps*

1 x 195kg/430lbs x 1

1 x 220kg/485lbs x 1

1 x 245kg/540lbs x 1 PR

A combination of the bar being too low and setting up too narrow meant my knees drifted forward a lot during that rep of 245kg. Still would've been deep enough to get whites but not the usual 4" below I aim for (and that I got when I hit 240). Still came up pretty easily! Camera angle exaggerates the stuff up a little, so not as bad as I initially thought. As Leighton said, it's better to find your errors in training rather than on the platform.

Still need the flexibility to get wider, but I've been slacking off with stretching... Will go back to my usual patterns up to the meet.

Here's the vid:

Did some GHRs/Standing Abs and left.

19 days out. Looking ok for a 670kg/1477lb total all of a sudden.

Dude, good lifting. Download RAD video tools, free converter, I have a MOV camera and it annoys me to no end. If you come on later tonight or tomorrow I can hook you up with the program via MSN.

Squat 200 Raw, not 180 and it will make a good video.

Went for 240x5 on the squat last night, was feeling easy but I whacked the rack! Messed me up bad! Next time!

Hey I got te camera sorted a bit back. I was using Adobe Premier which can deal with MOVs, but now I just have a different camera.

I hit 200 of a 14" box 6 or so weeks ago, but in loose suit bottoms. I doubt they add much I just use them to protect my hips.

Goooood stuff Jono, suit time yet?

1. Speed Bench Press w/ Bands

Bands: IW Small, choked around bench

1 x 40kg/88lbs x 5

2 x 60kg/132lbs x 3

2 x 65kg/143lbs x 3

2 x 70kg/154lbs x 3

Used a bit too much band tension I think, I suddenly slowed down @ 70kg bar weight, 60 & 65 were good. Measured it and this setup added 30kg at the top.

2. Close Grip Bench Press

1 x 70kg/154lbs x 5

3 x 95kg/209lbs x 5

Easy as...

3. Skull Crushers

1 x 25kg/55lbs x 10

3 x 35kg/77lbs x 10

Also some Lateral Raises...

Other notes:

Back in Nelson for Uni Holidays. Good to catch up with the PLers up here. Will go in for a Deadlift on Friday, attempt a rep of 265kg/584lbs *hopefully* won't be a max... But never know. Did hit 240x3 fairly easy a few weeks back so I'm trying to convince myself this weight'll be no probs. Bodyweight is up 2.5kgs in about two months.

1. Sumo Deadlifts

Equipment: Belt, 42 Cent Suit

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 5

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

1 x 127.5kg/281lbs x 3

1 x 155kg/342lbs x 1

*straps up*

1 x 182.5kg/402lbs x 1

1 x 210kg/463lbs x 1

1 x 237.5kg/524lbs x 1

1 x 265kg/584lbs x 1 PR

1 x 275kg/606lbs x 0

Unlucky miss at 275kg. Speed was A LOT faster than the 265kg because I knew I wouldn't make it if my technique wasn't spot on, so I focussed and it flew up. Until my hand got caught on my thigh and pulled my fingers open and I lost it... Nothing a bit of talc won't fix. Looking good for 280kg-285kg at the meet judging by that last lift.

Here's the video:

2. Seated Cable Row

3 x 75kg/165lbs x 10

3. Pull Throughs

1 x 180lbs x 10

1 x 210lbs x 10

1 x 240lbs x 10

1 x 270lbs x 10

4. Standing Abs

1 x 45kg/99lbs x 15

1 x 55kg/121lbs x 15

Other notes:

Learnt a lot from this workout - not bad at all.

Bench Shirt Session

1 x 40kg/88lbs x 8

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 6

1 x 80kg/176lbs x 3

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 1

*added shirt & belt*

1 x 110kg/242lbs x 2 (3 Board)

Good clean touches

*jacked shirt down hard*

1 x 120kg/265lbs x 2 misses (2 Board)

Couldn't touch

1 x 130kg/287lbs x 2 (2 Board)

Clean touches, came up fast

1 x 140kg/309lbs x 1 (1 Board)

Another clean touch and fast press.

2 x 150kg/331lbs x miss

Arch sucked, couldn't get the last couple of inches dumped them both.

2 x 160kg/353lbs x miss

Arch sucked again, dumped both again. The couple of inches that my ROM gained from the arch problems were killing my ability to touch a weight.

*took belt off, wet chest plate of shirt*

1 x 130kg/287lbs x 1

Good opener. Let the shirt choke me but an easy touch and not a bad press. Arch was good so definately the belt that was screwing me over, arch might not be too bad still on a better bench though. If not I'll try and get my hands on a thinner belt.

I have one more shirt session before the meet. Will either be Saturday/Sunday and back at my normal gym. Might give 150 a run. 160 is not out of the question for a meet number but we'll see how we go.

Also I went in for a Squat on monday, not much to talk about but just wanted to make sure I could hit depth with my suit straps tightened. No problems. Going back down to Christchurch tomorrow so I'll do my openers at Eastside.

Went in to ESB to do my openers tonight.

Canterbury Champs is tomorrow, Craig suggested I should just do my openers there as a guest lifter.

I might just go all out, experience is experience. Would still leave some PRs on the platform for Central Districts Champs next week.

So yeah, I have a meet tomorrow!

At Gravity Gym/Eastside Barbell right down the Nursery Road end of St Asaph Street (don't know the exact address). Yeah, people can watch, lifting starts at 10 I think (all I know is weigh-in is @ 9, lol) if you're keen.

Canterbury Champs Report

So yeah, a last minute entry. Weighed in at (a soft :D ) 103.40kg/228lbs, Sub-Junior (under 18).

Squat

Lost confidence going into this, my last warm up weight (190kg) I fell backwards and ended up on my arse.

1st Attempt - 225kg/496lbs - 3 whites - thank god, although it felt heavy.

2nd Attempt - 240kg/528lbs - 3 reds - completely f'ed it, fell over, good spot.

3rd Attempt - 240kg/528lbs - 3 whites - easiest lift of the day probably.

Bench Press

Took me 10 minutes of pulling to get out of my squat suit... Had to get straight into my shirt and start the warm-up @ 110kg.

1st Attempt - 130kg/287lbs - 3 whites - had the shirt choking me for an easy touch and a speed weight press.

2nd Attempt - 150kg/331lbs - 3 reds - jacked the shirt hard, not a clean touch at all, had the weight hovering around my chest trying to control it for about 5 seconds, got the press command and about 10" off my chest, then lost it over my face.

3rd Attempt - 155kg/342lbs (10kg PR) - 2 whites, 1 red - good touch and good press, didn't keep it tight and lost my arch but still got it. Think the red was for part of my foot coming of the ground, but I was so stoaked I didn't care.

Deadlift

1st Attempt - 250kg/551lbs - 1 white, 2 reds - easy weight but I didn't lock it out enough. Pretty harsh call.

2nd Attempt - 260kg/573lbs - 3 whites - easy again, made sure I leant back so it didn't get called up like the previous lift.

3rd Attempt - 285kg/628lbs - 3 reds - 2 inches from locking it out! Would've equalled the biggest Deadlift of the day.

Total - 655kg/1444lbs

65kg Comp PR

Very glad that I went in (almost) full guns blazing, I learnt a lot more than I would've if I had just done my openers. I think I'll be back to 100% for Central District's Champs next weekend and with this experience I'm looking good for a 680-690kg total.

Always good to put faces to names.

Us Eastsiders worked real well together today, thanks guys!

Highlight of the day: Mike G's 255kg Deadlift in the 67.5kg class and now as a master. Insane...

Back in the gym at 9:30am tomorrow to start my recovery.

So you won your class? good lifts any way.

Do you have any info on the winners of other classes went?

Maybe under 56kg and 82.5kg?

Yeah I came 1st/1 in my class lol. Think I got 2nd best total but I'm probably forgetting people. I'll check the results sheet for you, they should be up on the net within the next week at least.
