Other notes:

Maaaan that bodybuilder type stuff is tough, how do you bastards do it!?

Getting into my suit for a bunch of singles for squats on friday and looks like a 99% chance that I will be (finally) getting into my shirt on saturday.

Also happy with that 2-board PR, when I first made the boards a couple of weeks ago I got stapled by 115kg off that height!

I've just been stirring on that deadlift PR the other day, marks a 50kg gain since "Entry #1" back in april.

1. Squats (in Titan Centurion Suit)

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 6

1 x 80kg/176lbs x 3

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

1 x 120kg/275lbs x 3

1 x 140kg/309lbs x 1

1 x 150kg/331lbs x 1

1 x 160kg/353lbs x 1

1 x 170kg/375lbs x 1

*straps up*

1 x 180kg/397lbs x 1

1 x 190kg/419lbs x 1

1 x 200kg/441lbs x 1

1 x 210kg/463lbs x 1

1 x 220kg/485lbs x 1

1 x 230kg/507lbs x 1 PR

*suit off*

1 x 160kg/375lbs x 5

Wasn't hitting depth on a lot of these due to my knees drifting forward, I was more confident in sitting right back as I got through the sets but the weight got heavier so it got harder. 220kg was probably my best rep considering the amount knee drift and the weight, but the depth was bad anyway. 230kg depth was dodgey. But I'll let myself have it lol, need a PR. If everything goes right I will get that weight. My goal for the meet in this suit is now 220kg and I'll just make it very deep to garuntee it passes. Then after the meet I'll get my form down 100%.

That 160kg for 5 felt good form. I widened my stance up a bit for it. But my suit was off and the problem is when my suit is on.

Here's the sets from 140 throught to 230:

2. Chin Ups

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 5

1 x BW x 10 PR, 5

Bodyweight was 96kg...

3. Cable Crunches

1 x 107kg/235lbs x 8

1 x 113kg/250lbs x 8

4. Reverse Cable Bends

2 x 75kg/160lbs x 12

Other notes:

Starting to cut the volume...

Definately getting into my shirt tomorrow, finally. Sheesh.

1. Bench Press (in 46 Titan Fury shirt)

This is the last time I will ever bench in a Fury. Man this shirt gives me nothing. I was trying to tuck hard, like I usually bench. It was also restricting my arch big time. The bar was taking it's time coming down but I was getting zero pop. I worked up to 120kg/275lbs for two misses. Also I tweaked my left shoulder in the process. I think I must've been coming out of my usual grove a bit on the ascent and flaring my elbows far too early, putting a lot of bad stress on my shoulders. Shoulder hurt like hell when I got the shirt off. The shirt is now up for sale on nzpowerlifting.co.nz, if any bodybuilder (the shirt will suit a bodybuilder style bench - flatish back, elbows flared) with around a 46-48" chest wants to have a taste of powerlifting you can take it off my hands for a measly $90. /advertising

Mr. Simanu (Tonka) has been contacted already to get myself an F6 (a shirt with a very low grove and an arched back for those who are unaware).

On the bright side, it went on very easily today. I'll get into a 44 no sweat.

2. Squats

I went straight home after the benching because of my shoulder, went back later to do these.

Working on form, did about a million 5's @ 80kg. Trying to get more in sitting back and also sit back further, so that when I put my suit on I'll be able to repeat it (in time...). This video was the last set. That's a tape measure on the ground. My usual stance is around 85cm, tonight I widened it to 100cm and I will widen it once again when I am ready. I realise that my short-ass torso makes it hard to get the weight over my heels, so I'm just going to keep widening my stance to shorten the distance (between the bar and my heels).

1. Deadlifts (in Titan Centurion Suit)

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 5

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

1 x 140kg/309lbs x 1

1 x 165kg/364lbs x 1

1 x 190kg/419lbs x 1

1 x 215kg/474lbs x 1

1 x 240kg/529lbs x 1 PR

Cool I got it! I had suit troubles today, didn't get it on right and it was bunching up and out of groove. I definately had this in me today (easy maybe) if I had my suit on right, but the lockout was a grinder. In hindsight, if I had missed it I would've come on here and had a winge/sulk about how I was screwed by my suit, so I should've really taken it off and put it back on. But I got it so no worries! Video below!

2. Speed Deadlifts

2 x 150kg/331lbs x 3

Mmm fast.

3. Power Shrugs

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 5

1 x 120kg/265lbs x 5

1 x 140kg/309lbs x 5

2 x 160kg/353lbs x 5

4. Romanian Deadlifts

1 x 140kg/309lbs x 3

1 x 160kg/353lbs x 5 PR

1 x 170kg/375lbs x 5 PR

Felt really strong on these today. The plan was go 160 for 2 5's, but I knocked out the first set peice of piss, so I upped the weight. Probably was a bit eager going all the way to 170 and I should've gone to 165, my back curved a little on the last rep. Video below!

5. Cable Crunches

3 x 107kg/235lbs x 8

6. Thick Bar Side Bends

1 x 40kg/88lbs x 8

2 x 65kg/143lbs x 8

Video below! On these too, some people on another forum were asking how to do 'em.

Other notes:

I had a PE exam today in which I had to write 3 essays in 3 hours. Very draining. But one of the essay questions was basically "Shit on Vibra-Training as much as you can" so that was good fun. I was buggered when I got home but I downed a V and headed to the gym. I'll sleep well tonight lol.

Today was my last deadlift session before the meet. I plan to open with a conservative 200 as I'm not sure how the Squatting and Benching prior to it will affect me. Then maybe go 230-235, if I'm feeling alright. And then a new PR. Here's the video from today:

Entry #157: Wednesday 05/12/2007

Alright my F6 arrived and I went in and tried it out. To no avail. I got it on but I don't think I got it on properly. Honestly, I can't even remeber. It was cutting off my circulation so bad everything is a blur and I gradually lost feeling in my hands from my thumbs across. It was really crazy, like I was in a dream sort of. The plan was to work it down the boards. Tripled 100kg of a 4, 110kg of a 3, did something on a 2 maybe? And then went to my chest with 120kg I think and got a bit of assistance. Oh yeah and I used rubbish bags to get it on and they ripped when we tried to pull them out and were stuck in the sleeve, so that didn't help things. Took about 15 minutes sitting there, still completely out of it until I decided it was safe to drive. Came home and slept. So I don't know wtf went wrong. Any comments?

I'm going to do some raw paused benching tomorrow after my equiped squats. I've decided I'm going to open raw to get something on the board and then maybe try out my shirt if there's anyone experienced with gear around who is available and see what happens.

Also decided I'm going to disregard that squat PR. It was high, I'll feel a lot better when I acutually get it.

1. Squats (in Titan Centurion suit)

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 5

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

1 x 120kg/265lbs x 2 - ripped my favourite shorts!!!

1 x 120kg/265lbs x 3

*straps up*

2 x 140kg/307lbs x 3

2 x 160kg/353lbs x 3

2 x 180kg/397lbs x 3

1 x 200kg/441lbs x 3

I'm gutted about my shorts! Poor things. I was going to take them off and just squat in my suit but I forgot. I sat back and spread my knees and heard a big ripping sound, big hole now in the back of them. Lucky they went now than leaving me in my undies if I they went another time without my suit.

Training partner was busy tonight, but I didn't really need him. Grabbed a spot on the 200kg set but in reality the guy couldn't have done anything to save me and was just there to blame if I had to bail LOL.

But yeah, squats a lot better than last week with only one form session in between now and then. Might do another couple before the meet (with just really light weights again).

Here's the video of set number 2 of 140, 160, 180 and then the 200 set:

Also I though this picture was pretty crack up:

1. Bench Press

1 x 40kg/88lbs x 8

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 6

1 x 70kg/154lbs x 3

1 x 80kg/176lbs x 3

1 x 90kg/198lbs x 3

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 3

2. Bench Press - Paused

1 x 90kg/198lbs x 1

1 x 95kg/209lbs x 1

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 1

Nice and easy, 100kg will probably be my opener and then I'll give my shirt a go. OR open in my Fury... Even though it's very loose I could still comfortably open with 110kg.

3. 1 Board Bench Press

1 x 90kg/198lbs x 5

1 x 95kg/209lbs x 5

4. Bent Over Rows

1 x 60kg/132lbs x 5

1 x 70kg/154lbs x 5

1 x 80kg/176lbs x 5

1 x 90kg/198lbs x 8 PR

1 x 100kg/220lbs x 5 PR

Rows are a hellovalot stronger if I don't do them after Deads and Romanian Deads like I have been the last 2 months due to Coan/Phillipi.

5. L-Lateral Raises

1 x 16kg x 8

2 x 21kg x 8

6. Cable Crunches

3 x 107kg/235lbs x 8

7. Reverse Cable Side Bends

1 x 73kg/160lbs x 12

2 x 79kg/175lbs x 12

Other notes:

I'm going to take OB's advice and go in on Sunday and then Monday.

Sunday: work up to my Squat opener of 200kg fully equiped.

Monday: work up to my Bench opener of 100kg raw or possibly 110kg in my Fury, I'll have a think about it.

And then that's it until the meet aside from stretching and possibly some more very light form work on Squats, but I'll decide when we get to next week.

Entry #160: Sunday 09/12/2007

1. Squats (in Titan Centurion suit)

Worked up to my opener of 200kg/441lbs. I lost composure because of a few just little things, so my form was a little off. But I still hit depth. The 180kg/397lbs I did before it was my best lift ever. Almost no knee drift what-so-ever.

I was going to weigh the weights in the gym to see how accurate they were because I expected it to be less (and what ya don't know can't hurt you). But I did in the end and the actual weight of 200kg was 201.5kg. Good to get that off my chest.

Bench opener tomorrow and then that's it.

I was going to go in and do my Bench opener of 110kg in the 46 Fury, but the training partner got held up in Christchurch. So that's not going to happen. No big loss though, just another day to rest & recover from a good solid few months.

This'll probably be my last "entry" before the meet. Wish me luck
