all-time NZ Open record is 385kgs set by Derek Pomana

current NZ Open record squat is 350kgs set by neil lauaki last year at nationals. hes good for 370 wouldve set the record too!, Had he not bombed in the deadlift at north islands

so even though he squated 3whites, it didn't count for a record because he bombed? :think:

yup...DQ, if you dont post a total from all 3 lifts you bomb. a thing all PLrs try to avoid

We will be expecting 150kg put on your squat this year drizz. Now you know how to get dem optimal gainz.

Records, what BJ listed is it, and I also think Andy Mahon (who is a 105er) squatted 350 at the worlds? Derek Pomana was a 110er I believe? So I'm not doing anything new yet... but to get within the same realm (100ish kg!) as Pomana's record would be unbelievable :shock: Heard so many legends about the man, one of my squat idols :nod:

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but the plan in my mind is once this 300 gets taken down in belt and wraps, I'm gonna jump in a suit. So it's probably anybody's guess how much I'll get out of it. An initial loose suit to learn in, from what I've seen in others I probably won't get much, 20-30kg if I'm lucky. But if I start dialling in tighter suits a little ways down the track who knows? Could be getting up near the records range.

My squat itself will also advance a bit hopefully, so throw all of that together, and under ideal conditions I might be lucky enough to come close to at least my weight division records later in the year.

Would love to have a crack at the raw standards for my div too (no wraps), I think the standard for 105 is 245 which I'm pretty confident of knocking over.

But before all of that, I just want to take one thing at a time, and that's knocking over the 300 :nod:

Like BJ said, bombing is every lifter's worst nightmare! :pfft: But you can still "win" the best squatter medal at World events (not sure about other events) if you bomb one/both of the other lifts (same for bench/dead).

Awesome Drizz! Damn I'm inspired now to do the same for my squats....mean gains!

Love to try the smolov full plus maintain the metal militia I'm doing for bench, not sure nervous system could handle it though

Thanks man, yeah I used 180 as my max for Smolov back in May (I think it was May?), and landed that 280 today, so about 100 in 7-8 months I suppose.

But this thread ain't about me, enjoy the new year bro, stay strong 8)
