On the subject of body composition. I was around 103kg at the start of 2006 and that was after I was doing bodybuilding training. As the year went on and I began to condition myself for OL, the OL training did not have enough volume, intensity (ie training load) and specificity of training to support hypertrophy gained from BB training, mind you I also wasn't eating as much so that played a major part. My weight dropped to around 92kg, while my strength was rising and now it's going back up naturally since I'm not forcing it to go up. I think staying in 105's will be a good choice for me this year for a couple of reasons.

A. Placement for Oceania competitions (NZ team), if I move to 105s we can have a strong full team provided I qualify, which means more medals for NZ.

B. My strength is going up rapidly.

C. I looked like a scrawny b_tch at 94's.

D. There's some better competitor(s) to beat.

The current plan is to be a full 105 lifter, to the point where you have to diet down to make weight. Then try and shed some bodyfat and rebuild.

We'll see how the year unfolds though.

" C. I looked like a scrawny b_tch at 94's." :pfft:

you don't look scrawnny. but size is good heheh.

From my experience, I was about 105 in 2005, then i dieted down to 95 kg at 13% bf in early 06. lost about 5% strength. then i started doing OL. Now my strength is at all time high. although i think my muscular endurance has decreased.

When i dropped from 105 to 95, I wasn't doing any OL at that time. But the decrease in strength is mostly in compound excercises. I started OL after I dieted down to 95kg. Now I gained about 4kg of mass. My back, thigh, shoulder, and arm got bigger. the rest stay at the same size. I hope i can achieve a 250 kg total in 3years, and hopefully 330 total at 105, and compete in masters.

Oh and thanks to that special someone who edited my videos. How do I do that?

There's a shiny new Video button on the reply screen. Click it, and it gives you an option to embed YouTube or Google video. If you prefer to do it old-school, and write the BBCode tags manually, just put the URL link inside a [ youtube ] tag. :)

Haha, yes I keep forgetting the toe tap.

A month gone by with another set of videos from Round 2 National Club Competition. Weighed in at 100.2kg, up a 1kg or so from last month's weigh in. Enjoy.

Cheers guys. 300 total is gonna be hard to get but it's something I think is doable considering I'm ~7kg out from my full potential (being a full 105kg lifter).

V, Jono and I did Highland Games a couple of weeks back I believe (March 10) and had to do weight (25kg) for height, caber (35kg), weight (25kg) for distance, farmers walk (56kg each hand). First time I've tried that sort of competition and had good fun doing it. Jono did good, but wasn't feeling that great on the day as it was hot. A couple of pics below:

Nice kilts guys, looking good. looks like it was a good day.

Cheers. It was a good day but too hot to be wearing a kilt.

Poos, you had to wear a kilt since highland games relate to Scotland's traditions.

V, I don't think I (or anybody else on this green earth) wants to see Jono in that. Worse than smelling salts!

2guns, if you have specific questions you may be better off shooting a PM to bigMAC. There's some stuff here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_games

They only had 4 events that time, usually there are more. There's gonna be another comp like this (only with more events) at the end of the year. I'll probably compete in that one too.
