Email scam, PT'S beware!!

Ok there is this person that i recieved a few emails from in regards to hiring a P.T whilst they were on Holiday here in Nz. This is obviusly a scam and im sure most people would be smart enough to recognize that but be ware just in case.

here's a few of the emails I recieved in which at 1st i replied to but soon after stopped replying, as it got realy obviuos what was up!!

Greetings Dear,

I'll be in the country with my friends for a one month vacation. During our stay, we would like to book for 3 weeks classes for 1Hr30Mins each day,Monday to Saturday (morning or Evening hours) for 6 persons. We are asking for 1Hr30Mins per day for the 3 weeks-which is a total of 23hrs40 We would be coming over for a short Vacation and as part of our plans to keep fit during the vac, we need Private group training in either Aerobics/fitness Lessons. Do you have a training studio/facility where you conduct the classes? What Forms of Fitness Program above do you teach best?

COMMENCEMENT DATE: 10th May 2010

I would love to get the total cost or a quote/estimate. What are your payment options for registration? Do you accept credit cards(Kindly indicate cards accepted)?

We'll be grateful if you'll be willing to do the work to teach quality classes to us and make our visit a memorable and fun-filled one.

Thanks for the mail, we are very glad that you can accommodate us. In the mornings is just perfect and exactly what we had in mind. The group price of $5700 has been accepted for the classes. In order to fully secure our session with you,we have decided to make the full deposit of $5700 via my credit card details. Our group is made up of 3 Males and 3 Females. I will send to you my credit card details for the deposit for you to secure our session ok.

Moreover, I just concluded arrangements with a language translator/interpreter who will be able to translate every word to my Greek friends(2 of the ladies) that do not speak English language. He would be with us throughout our stay with you as well as take care of our traveling logistics to include.

2) International Airport transfer

3) Transportation logistics & Accommodation during our stay.

Hello .....,

I am presently offshore like i told you and i can dial out with the vessel satellite phone. what i wanted to tell you over the phone is that we've also concluded arrangements with the Translator agent like i told you who will take care of our logistics as well( Flight tickets & travel insurance,International Airport transfer, Transportation logistics & Accommodation).

However, because of security reasons and trust reposed on you and because they do not have credit card facility for now, I have decided that only YOU will have to handle the credit card information. So, once you receive my visa card information, you are required to charge the total amount of {$21,700 + bank charges} then deduct your payment for now,which is $5700, and send the balance of {$16000} to the logistics Company to be able to proceed with our travel plans.

Pls Confirm if you can take care of this for us so that i can send the card details to you as discussed. Also note that we believe in you and will never fail to show our appreciation if you do this properly for us.

I'll wait to receive a go-ahead from you so I can send the details.

LOL, that's one of the worst and most obvious attempts at credit card scamming i have ever seen.

Ohh, be a good sport,

All you have to do is charge there stolen credit card, take abit of cash for yourself, and then help them launder the money back to an offshore account probably through a western union transfer lol.

The worst that can happen is a suspended sentence for being stupid, and as its under 50K US wont get the secret service or most government agency's to carry on and trace it back to them.

Do PT's have a reputation for being dumb? lol.

I wouldn't try it, they target people who work in retail environments as they are the only one's with access to a eftpos terminal, you cant just walk into a bank and ask them to charge a credit card for you.

Normally the transaction will go through aswell, as if its a decent gym/shop they will have a monthly turnover of credit cards and VISA or Mastercard will give them a priority account, which basically means that they have very minimal charge backs from their transactions & are trusted, alot more than a new business setup or an online business.

Plus I believe NZ, US, Aussie, UK are the few with AAA credit ratings.

They will charge it back though, and most of the time they will either take the business that processed it to court, or the person, but you wont do time over it, not unless you have priors for fraud.

I never done this personally, I just live in a tax-haven and money laundering capital of the pacific, so you know, hear about it.. :shifty: \:D/
