It's weird the reaction - I don't think it's due to any genuine concern about the person choosing not to drink either. I think it's to do with how they think that your choice is going to effect them - as though me not drinking is going to completely ruin the party because I'll be less fun or something.

Well, the more I don't drink, the more I don't want to drink or to be around drunk people. You start to notice just how foul their breath is :lol: There were two times in the last hour before we went home that I was taking steps backwards because the people I was talking to were right in my face and personal space and breathing their rank breath all over me - gross! :puke: One person clearly didn't realise that I was trying to get away, and I found myself about a metre or so from the original huddle of conversation as he kept taking a step forward for every step I took backward to avoid his breath  Mind you, both of them were smokers, so rank breath at the best of times!

lol....yeah..same old story..I get sick of my friends moaning about how unfit and crap they look... ...I would give them free advice..but it falls on deaf ears..and the exscuses come out... There is a couple of close friends I go out on the town with sometimes..and its really funny as they go out of their way to make sure that we go to places to eat that serve up good nutritional meals.. :pfft: ..I tell them I aint fussed, as it s only one meal and it wont kill me..but they say they feel bad ..geez...

OMG I had the biggest dinner tonight - complete blowout! While I was at work studying (and spending lots of time procrastinating and flicking onto the internet every 10 mins!) my hubby was at home making a divine meal - my favourite roast chicken recipe ('Chicken Everest' from Charmaine Solomon's Complete Asian Cookbook), some curried potatoes and a spicy courgette dish, and homemade naan bread. The naans were fairly small, but I still had 2 - they were so good! And a giant chicken breast. Not too many spuds and quite a bit of the courgette. Am still feeling pretty full 5 hours later!

Ah well, after a week's plateau last week, my body fat has gone down again this week, so after 5 weeks of good eating and constant improvements to my diet and excercise, I think I deserve a treat meal!

Really good workout this morning. I was trying to pack in as much as possible, as this is the day I go to hubby's gym and pay $15 to do so, so I like to make sure I get my money's worth. He's always keen to get it all over with as it's practically the only day of the week he gets to the gym  So to get as much in as possible I was supersetting (I think that's what I was doing - alternating BB chest press, then Tricep kickbacks with no break, then alternating DB flyes and tricep extensions).

So here's the rundown of what I did:

BB chest press 12kg 12/12/10/8/8

Tricep kickbacks 6kg 4x12, 7kg 1x8

DB flyes 9kg 5x12

Tricep extensions 10kg 12/10/8/8/6

Tricep dips 4x10, 1x8

Pressups 10/8

Tricep pressups 5 full, 10 knees

Oh, and 5 whole chin ups (then 3.5, 2.5 and 3 - not in a row, just every now and then when I felt able to try again)

As for pull ups - well, I'm getting ever closer. At first I just managed halves today (not even mouth height like last week), but then I tried again later and I'd say I got millimetres away - I lifted my head up and my chin was just over the bar, but couldn't quite get to chin level without that cheat!. Might get there by next week...Watch this space!

Is ur hubby a member at jville gym?

Yep

oh..is he really getting to the gym much?..might pay to get him to switch and save that weekly $15 u pay to go to his??

True. He was going after work most nights when he joined earlier in the year, but has got really slack in the last month or so and has only been going on a Sunday. I'd love to get him to Bodyworks - but I just don't think it will happen - he keeps using the excuse that his work is further away from there than mine, and that City Fitness is more convenient for him. Well, it would be if he actually went!

But yeah, if he was at BW, at least he could drive us in on a weekend (the only reason I don't do weekends at BW unless I'm already going to town is due to me not driving and because it's just too much time expenditure to bus or train in for a workout - would use up half the day!).

I figure the $15 I spend each week is a bit of an investment in his health as it gives him a kick up the arse to go with me

Wow, time seemed to get away from me in the gym today. Started off pretty well, but part way through lunges I felt so knackered that I did sitting down and lying down stuff after lunges instead of more lifting!

Smith squats 50kg 12/12/12/12/10

Smith lunges 20kg 1x12; 25kg 12/10/10

Seated calf raises 40kg 2x12; 45kg 3x12

Swiss ball hamstrings things 12/12/12/10

Was bloody hot in the gym today. Warm sunny lovely day.

Food - same old same old. Leftovers from Saturday night's roast for dinner tonight - but no naans left, and just a few potatoes for me.

Oh dear, I didn't have my normal 4pm snack as I felt really bloaty and full after lunch and didn't feel like I could fit anything in. Big mistake. Felt so hungry on the walk home from the train, started getting the shakes. Then when I got home I needed to eat something pretty fast, and the easiest thing to hand was the leftover potatoes from the other night

So much for not having many of them (and they're laden in fat as well as carbs because they've been Indianified and turned into something truly delicious).

So I won't be expecting a drop in my bodyfat this week after that and Saturday's meal.

:naughty: Let that be a lesson to me - eat my 4pm snack even if I'm feeling full - I sure as hell won't be on the hour long trip home!

How was that shoulder now, any better? Could have been the dips or press-ups that snagged it, maybe?

Nice work on the squats, tho!

Aaah - dips, that might be it. I don't normally do them, and that was the only thing I did differently yesterday than the previous Sunday, so that makes sense - thanks!

You might be right - I may well have been going too deep. I was using a bench. In the past I've only ever done a few of them as part of a pump class, so on a very low step. When I did them at pump last week I actually managed the full set (a first), so I guess I got a bit cocky and overdid it on the bench. Lesson learned!

Rest day yesterday.

Bit of a rush job today unfortunately. Had a verbal exam this morning which took 4 hours, so didn't get to gym til 2pm and didn't really feel as though I could take the full amount of time I normally do.

Wide chin assists (pull ups) 25kg 8/8/5

Narrow chin assists (chins) 25kg 8/8/6

One arm rows 12kg 3x10

Bent over rows 25kg 3x8

Hammer curls 5kg 1x12, 6kg 2x8

Bicep curls EZ bar 5kg 1x8, 7.5kg 2x8

Have eaten like a big fat pig the last 4 days. Back to normal now, though was a bit buggered up with the 4 hour exam (had a PS halfway through though).

Body fat has been up this week, but not really a surprise given my extreme gluttony.

Shoulders today

Shoulder DB press 10kg 8/8/7/5

DB upright rows 8kg 2x10, 9kg 2x8

Lat raises 5.7kg 4x8

Shoulder press (machine) 25kg 2x8, 20kg 2x8

Raised leg press ups 3x15

Also did 20 mins light cardio on a bike to try and work off some of that fat i've put on this week through being a gluttonous cow. Am very annoyed at myself for going off the rails with a couple of bad dinners, particularly Sun - Tue. Sat was fine, I'm not going to beat myself up over one fantastic meal - but extending it by 3 days is just stupid, and looking at my fat readings, I feel like I've set myself back 2 weeks (which is how long it'll probably take to get back on track), and it just wasn't worth it.

Fat so far had been:

Week 1 29.9%

Week 2 29.5%

Week 3 28.6%

Week 4 28.7% (plateau week!)

Week 5 27.9%

This week: 28.4% (average so far this week) - every day it's been 28.5 or 28.3 whereas the week before it was mostly under 28%.

Grrr!
