Splitting Leg Workouts

Recommended Posts

G'Day all just after some thoughts/ideas on splitting my leg routine into two separate days (quads/hammys).

Firstly some background:

A few years back I stuffed my back (L5 with some sciatic issues) and backed off leg workouts for a couple years (yes very silly :pfft: ). Anyway a result of this is that my legs are lagging behind my upper body, which obviously is not good for competing!

SO I'm considering a split leg day to get double bang for my buck. Something along the lines of a Quad based workout on Tuesday and Hammy based Saturday.

Thoughts or routine ideas, good, bad or otherwise would be appreciated.

I did no ham curls for ages just squats and then when i went back to ham curls my weights had gone up hugely,

just wondering if it might work them twice, dunno though?

Do you mean will squats work your hammies? yes for sure they will, just like rows will work your bi's and bench will work your tri's. Its all good!

Try Quad/calf and Ham/glute

2 calf movements

Squal or variation

press or variation

extensions

lying curl

standing curl

stiff leg deads

kickbacks

abductor

Might look girly but if you want deep glute striations then you have to work for them

Don't care what it looks like just after what works :D Cheers for your advice

This might sound a bit crazy but here's what worked for me a few years ago

Legs where lagging so I started doing squats every morning (training twice a day), did 4 set 100kg x 10rep took about 30min a day for 4 weeks and the results where great.

Just have to remember arse to the floor when squatting!!
