Hey everyone, how's things? Good, I hope!

Just a quick update from over here in Texas. Things are going to plan, and our workouts have been good, very good in fact!!

We have had to add a little more cals to Lee's diet as he got a bit ahead of schedule, but otherwise all is on track.

We went and took the new Dodge Charger for a drive yesterday. Very very nice ride... Man, we get ripped off when it comes to new cars in NZ. Some of the cars you can buy here for 25k would cost around 50-60k in NZ.

Today we trained back and Lee's strength is still higher, actually getting stronger, and so is mine so that's good.

We went to a local bodybuilding show last Sat. They had about 60 competitors, and I gotta tell ya they all looked pretty good. Especially the figure girls - they were excellent. The quality overall was great and many of their athletes would have been capable of a NZ title if they competed there!!!

We put the website address on Getbig so people could see the photos of Lee and boy the hits to NZBB went up bigtime. Even had a guy stop me in Golds today who said he visited the site and thought it was awesome, and he mentioned how positive and supportive the people on the NZBB site were. I told him, "Oh yeah, that's Kiwis for yah. We don't suffer from small penis syndrome, and we respect our peers." He said that's great and said he was going to join the site!!! Let's hope!!

Anyway, train hard and rest well, regards Hrdcor

Didnt get any pics sorry. We were guests of the promoters and I didn't know the deal with photos and stuff there, so I didn't take my camera. But trust me the figure girls were hot... I mean good! One thing though all the figure girls over here seem to be real short, all around 5ft-5ft2 etc and well muscled but stunning in appearance. Our figure girls all seem to be a lot taller and less muscular but just as stunning... just a observation!!

None of them though could hold a light to my girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, here's what's been happening:

TRAINING, EATING, CARDIO, SLEEPING!!

We have been watching a lot of movies. We go to the movie theatre around 2.30pm between meals 4-5. If you get a chance to see Four Brothers, you will enjoy it. Transporter2 isn't bad but The Sound Of Thunder is crap!

Lee brought a new car, a 2006 GT Mustang. It's really cool, so I'll get a couple of pics for you when he picks it up. The salesman got really pissed at me because I got on his back about the price and what deal they were willing to do, he said "Who's buying the car - you or Lee?!" I told him he wouldn't last 2 weeks in NZ as a seller as he didn't know how to handle a buyer!! Anyhow Lee got a deal and it's a sweet ride!!

Lee's prep is going really good, coming down nicely. We have increased his cals again by 250cals but have added a little more cardio. I am trying to talk him into getting a progress shot but he doesn't wanna give away too much!!!

I'm hanging in there, feeling a little beat up, but if it gets too much I will just take a extra day off!!

We have been getting a lot of people trying to talk to Lee whilst he is training and Lee is courteous enough to stop and talk to them. I'm saying, "Come on dude, let's keep it going", but he never listens. He doesn't want to be seen as being rude, but I stay on his back so he moves a little faster than probably normal!!

Ok I will get going we gotta go do cardio. I do the night cardio with him but not the morning session. He gets up at 6am to do that, and damm, I'm retired remember!!

Wow, that salesman is a jerk! Obviously you're not the one buying it but you're with the guy who has the $$$ to buy it and obviously are his friend. He shouldn't belittle either of you - you're doing the salesman a favor by making him money! Idiots!

Mustangs are hot!

And as for Lee taking the time to talk to people who are his fans, hey, he' s a great guy and knows how loyal his fans are, so why not give 5 - 10 minutes to someone who has been a fan of Lee for years?

Also - what type of calories did you add with the 250? Just carbs or a combo of carbs and protein?

The cals are in the form of protein. He currently is on 34200, everything is getting tighter and tighter. He's at 5.6% body fat with still 6 weeks to go, but we would like to be nearly ready 4 weeks out.

We discussed his night before the show prep today and we will be looking at a high fat high carb intake with water depletion the night prior!!

I must say this thread has really changed my opinion of Lee Priest. I had limited knowledge about him before the thread, knew about as much as the average gym go-er about him. For some reason i always had this impression he was a bit conservative, old, god knows why.

Anyway after seeing some candid pics and reading this thread i must say hes a real inspiration, i love the tats, something i never even knew he had because i had only seen pics when he was in the stage tanned up.

He sounds like a really cool guy, interested in drag racing and cars etc.

Big thumbs up :)

We did have a PRO show here in NZ about 4-5 years ago. I competed in it, Ronnie Coleman won and Chris Cormier got second.

The problem was it lost a lot of money! It is very expensive to hold a pro show and without serious sponsorship backing you will end up in the shit!!

First you have to pay the sanction fee of US$10,000 for the right to hold the show, then you need around $40k(US) for prize money, then you gotta fly everyone to the show and hotel them, the IFBB officials have to fly first class, then you got venue hire, advertising and all your other incidentals.... You are going to need at least $150k or more to make it happen, then you gotta get bums on seats!

One problem with the NZ grand prix had was it was held in Wellington, when the sheer population should have had it in Auckland.

I do believe however prize money should be given in the amateur ranks, especially at nationals. There are no rules that say it can't, just that there is no money in the pot to give!!!!!

Oh, at the NZ Grand Prix I won a $4000 Tag Heuer watch for being the best performer... I wear it to this day!! I think I got 6th or 7th at the show?

I have really appreciated this thread and like to check up on it, I never really had an full idea of the hard wirk and preparation that goes into gtting ready for a top show, and its still , what 6 weeks out? Keep the updates coming great thread.

if its not too personal a question, why did you retire hardcore ? surely you still could have gone further.

Nice. What do you mean by 34200? I hope that's not how many cals he's taking a day. :) lol

Yesterday we trained legs and since Lee is supporting a sore Quad (which he sustained trying to keep up with HRDCOR) we concentrated on leg press, as this seemed not to aggravate it too much.

After doing around 10 sets with a weight increase on just about every set, Lee decided to strip the press down to 7 plates a side for a final high rep set!! I gave him a goal of 50 reps to achieve!!! He hit 50 reps, then took a deep breath and said, "It's still on."

He kept grinding out the reps in blocks of 10 reps, catching his breath at each block!! He hit a 100 reps, then went to blocks of 5 reps until he ground out (GET THIS) 130 reps!!!!! He could hardly get out of the machine. As he had to roll out, I told him he was a pussy and he was lucky I was retired!!!!

Then when we left the gym we were faced with what every bodybuilder wants after a gut-puking leg workout - A FLAT TYRE!!!!

Here's a couple of shots depicting the day!!!

I was about to say, time to shave Lee!

Getting back to the pro show in NZ, cast your memories back to when Tiger Woods came out to compete at the NZ Open. The organisers took a bath on that one big time, even with golf being one of the most played sports in NZ. Goes to show, if it ain't rugby or cricket it's hard to put on a big show in a country with four million people!
