BIGMD's Pro Debut, Texas August 09

After much consideration I have decided to bring forward my Pro Debut forward from the 2010 Ironman to the 2009 Europa Super Show in Dallas Texas, followed by the Houston Pro in August.

Competeing as a Pro has been a dream for over 10 yrs. Winning the 2000 NZFBB Heavy weight and Overall National Title was to be the start of the process for myself to turn Pro, unfortunatly this was not to be.

After winning the 2007 nationals, i put my sights on the IFBB World Champs, but with the support of my Wife Gretchen I (we) decided (while sitting by the pool on our honeymoon) that dreams should be followed,and that my dream of becoming a Pro, was once again attainable.

I intend to put up some progress reports and picks in the next few weeks, and i also want to thank all those that have supported me over the years and the ones that have supported and encouraged me of recent.

UPDATE.

Well i was going to post some pics some time this week but i have had a bit of a bummer week. After missing Monday mornings workout with cronic hay fever. i thought i would do a catch up workout on monday evening. ALL fired up i started with flat D/B Press. i warmed up and feeling strong decided to head to the heavy end of the rack. I have for the last few weeks been attacking the 60kg D/b's pushing out a good 5 clean unassisted reps. so today i was eyeing the dust covered 150lb lying on the floor. 1st set of 60kg... sweet 8 good reps, but a funny wee feeling in my left pec, not sore didnt stop me, but unusal just the same. 2nd set: it went straight up no spot no help into the 1st rep but a definate weird strain accross my chest on the down ward phase definate pain and a real pulling in my upper left pec. F#@k!!!!! a strained pec. i drop the D/b Straigh away. Thinking i may be able to work it out i went and grabbed the 25kg D/bs but even they sent shocking pain accross my chest. So after ice, rest massage i hope that the pec will hold up to Fridays Shoulder workout, the pain has gone butthere is still some tightness. so it has been a shit week this week after 8 weeks of fantastice training, as have done nothing.

Tomorrow is leg day, so hoping for a better result than Mon, my normal leg partner is out of action sick so i dont see squats as heavy as the last week, (squats. 180x10, 200x6, 200x5, 210x3, 160x20 only counts if your arse hairs touch the floor) The goal for xmas is 220x5.

OH YES!!! and today my client put their D/B On a bench and it rolled off and landed on my little toe!!!! was sort of funny in end as my client at the time is the PT manager at the gym i work at, so after the inital french spoken words we had a bit of a laugh at it.

NEXT WEEK WILL BE~BETTER. I am hoping to see those dam scales roll over into the 107kg mark, i have been 105.5 on a bad day up to 106.5 on a good.

Tomorrow is leg day, so hoping for a better result than Mon, my normal leg partner is out of action sick so i dont see squats as heavy as the last week, (squats. 180x10, 200x6, 200x5, 210x3, 160x20 only counts if your arse hairs touch the floor)

Question... How long are your arse hairs, cos unless you have a mullet growing out your backside, thats some low arse squats!

Question... How long are your arse hairs, cos unless you have a mullet growing out your backside, thats some low arse squats!

Mike gave me a good tip about this recently, he gets Gretchen to straighten his anus hair so he doesn't have to squat so deep...it's easier on his knees aparantly. I didn't want to find out whether he uses a chemical straightner or GHD's

Update.

training is going well. suffered a bit of a pec strain the other week which is still giving me some gibb but it going in the right direction.

trained with my good friend Jo Stewart the other morning. which was great. My wife Gretchen also jumped in and i think stund Jo a little with her strength which was cool. Gretchen won the Novice under 55kg national title this yr, she is still sitting within 2.5kg of her comp weight and at a weight of 51kg can throw the 22.5kg DB on incline bench no probs for 8 to 10 reps, Jo made her hit the 25kg D/bs and think she did 7rep. not bad for a 51kg 5foot 2inch girl.

The squat goal is getting closer. Hit 220kg for 3 reps on thursday and feel like i have been hit in the arse with a hammer, think the 5rep by xmas may be a little out of the way as although my legs are handling it the lower back is in catch up mode.

Bodyweight is staying around the 106mark but i have droped a little fat. the weather has been bloody hot down here in Ch Ch and our gym is like a sauna, so after 10 or 12 hrs in there with clients and training i think the extra heat has helped me loose some water and lean out a bit..

I have added TAMPA Florada to my US trip next yr. it is a week before dallas so id be crazy not to do that also.

Too answer a few questions

Photos were taken near QE2 drive i live next to it.

And as hairy as i am there is no mullut growing out of my arse crack :-)

I am knowen for having a very deep squat. I go down till my back side is sitting on my ankles.
