your journal makes for an iteresting read man - if you dont mind me asking, what attracted you to p.lifting from bbing? its basically all compound movements, so you must still put mass on with a decent diet right?

I went from BBing to Powerlifting cos I quickly found I was more interested in getting stronger than everything bodybuilding evolves/entails. I then went from PLing to Weightlifting because the movement are more dynamic and involve more coordination and athleticism which I enjoy more than the less dynamic powerlifting lifts.

Weightlifting doesn't have many eccentric movements which is usually what breaks down muscle and promotes growth, but you do plenty of squats which add lots of mass and if you've seen the Olympic lifters in the middleweight classes they all look really athletic, big and strong, just not OTT like BBers :)

So yes you would gain mass, just not to the same degree as with training specifically for BBing.

Update

Haven't posted in a long time,

Got Glandular fever a week or 2 after the last comp (Mid March)

Didn't touch weights for 5 weeks, lost 6kg, missed a comp, only been back into training for 2weeks and had my first comp for 2 months yesterday.

Weighing in @ 73.5Kg

Snatch

62, 68, 72miss

CJ

80, 85miss, 85

So a 153 total, down 2kg on 2months ago, altogether not bad really, looking forward to making PB's in 4 weeks time.

My Results from Round 5 of the OWNZ League, 13/06/09

Weighed in at 74.85kg, slowing getting back up to 77Kg

Snatch

70kg

75kg Miss, this felt heavier than I thought.

75Kg, nailed it, still felt heavy though. Overestimated my 1RM, was hoping I could get 78kg. 2.5Kg PB (5Kg comp PB)

Clean Jerk

90Kg

95Kg

100Kg 7.5Kg PB (15Kg comp PB)

Total

175Kg

20kg Comp PB total.

Absolutely wrapped to get that 100kg Jerk. 5/6 Lifts, my best performance to date.

Keep training hard for Round 7 in August in Auckland, gotta get a 195kg total to Qualify for Nationals. BRING IT ON.

My Results from Round 6 of the OWNZ League, 18/07/09

Weighed in at 76.80kg, stoked to be close to 77kg, could of weighed in at ~75.5 - 76 if I went toilet first, but forgot haha, no issue.

Snatch

75kg Easy.

80Kg Miss. Should been a piece of cake, had the height, just let myself down a bit by losing the weight forward.

80Kg Miss. As above.

80Kg didn't feel to heavy, if I lifted properly I would of been capable of 82Kg yesterday, but that's no problem, plenty of time to work on it. I think I put it down to catching the weight with a too wider stance, if I bring feet in SLIGHTLY and ankles in a tad more I will nail it, glad to have picked up this technique flaw - easily fixable. (Thank you camera man!!)

Clean Jerk

96Kg

100Kg

105Kg 5Kg PB

96 was easy. 100 was hard but got it, adjusted technique on 105 and it was sweet assssss

Total

180Kg

5kg Comp PB total.

Wanted 185 total this comp, but know the 80kg snatch was mine so the actual 180 total is moot.

Keep training hard for Round, 195 total, Qualify for nationals, Bring it on!

Video to follow if I can be bothered.

Home Made Gym

So I move the car out, put my 4x2 in place and there it is, my gym I use at home.

You will also note the wooden discs, training discs made by myself, weigh 2.5 - 2.9Kg each.

Very cool! /jealous.

Ok, so where are the mirrors gonna go? smile2.gif
