Interesting session! I left behind my shoes, my wrist wraps and my belt. Which for me are all VERY fundamental to my training mainly due to injuries. So I ended up borrowing big Danomytes shoes (cheers Dan), gym wraps, (which were pretty loose) and gym belt (which was avg).

This put me off my lifts majorly, hence the misses with snatch early on and then CJ to a lesser extent later. However, I managed to get my target weight out anyway - just not as easily as I had hoped, but all good.

Mean double at 100kg overhead! Thanks to side spotters for lowering bar down for me - saves a lot of energy! Missed a rep at 105... not good... but got it 2nd time round, sweet!

Training today.... sucked.....

Shoulder really sore, it's bad enough now I'm going to need to look at prehab and rehab work for it.

I'm not sure if it accounted for my misses tho, couldn't snatch 75kg overhead today, and decided not to go past 95kg in CJ for shoulders sake, annoying considering today was meant to be a heavy day, o well.

why, whats up?

Sorry for the delayed reply :D

I would have trouble reciting how my training has gone this year with any sort of accuracy, but it's been pretty bad. The wheels are coming back on though which is good.

Goals etc have changed quite a bit though,

I'm currently training for strength and size, It's been coined powerbuilding by some, seems to be quite fashionable at the moment actually!

I would like some more overall strength, which is something I definitely wasn't getting through Olympic lifting, everything other than my legs pretty much got neglected through my OL work for the last 18 months roughly.

So building back arm strength, building strength around the 3 powerlifting lifts, also doing Olympic session twice a week, also playing around with strongman stuff. So yeah, overall strength, gain some size and keep in touch with Olympic stuff (with a view to maybe refocus on Olympic stuff next year, but not neglect rest of the body as has happened previously). I am also looking to get fit again, so doing some HIIT training, so I can get back into some inline hockey.

Also interested in trying out some track events, would like to get my 400m time under a minute again, and might try some shotput :D

Without giving to much away. I had a great Olympic training session today, surprised myself, got two all time PB's wearing only chucks. First time ive tested max's in probably 6months. Olly back squat also about where it used to be. Watch this space, I might be making a comeback.

So there's a few members on NZBB who I thought might be interested in a real quick rundown on what I'm up to at the moment, to anyone else, Hi

As blog might suggest I gave up lifting at around Christmas last year. This July I found some people in my course who I got along with well who were training for strength, I got my appendix removed mid-July, so didn't start training properly until start of August and found myself weighing 70kg, -10kg of my old sort of training weight.

I then trained for and entered the Coast Barbell Club 3 lift comp Mid-September hoping to get close to old 2009 PB's (165/100/185), but ended up with 145/80/170. Been training hard and eating hard since, doing powerlifting, strongman and olympic style work (just finished smolov base cycle), currently weighing in around 81kg.

Hope to keep up good eating and training over summer uni break (will be tough), and increase my bw and lifts to start getting some nice numbers next year and hopefully do a couple powerlifting and strongman comps.

Plan to just periodically update this thread with how PB's are progressing.

start posting regularly phaggot

This regularly enough haha??

Update, trainings going well, best estimates at the moment currently have my maxes at 170/100/190 and have hit a comfortable 75kg Snatch and 100kg CJ in Olly work (more time spent on these and I'd like to think I'm easily at 85/110). Tyre flips with the 280kg tyre are easy, working on speed. Apollons axle CJ up to 97.5kg which I did several weeks ago, farmers walks up to 93kg per hand for 40m, slow though so need to work on speed. hate stones so don't do them, will work on these in future. Log I think is 85kg overhead, should be aiming for 90kg shortly.

OJ - Cheers mate, sent you a PM reply.

Tomlee - Haven't tested in ages, probably 80 or 85kg I suspect. The leg drive for me is always fine (with an olly background) so it's just how much focus I've put on pressing/bench work that dictates my push press generally :)

Tested my push press for you Tommy haha, hit 80kg fairly easy, then missed 90 twice. So about equal with my old best of 85.

And while writing this post decided most of todays session will be made up of push press.

I test my squat in about a week after completion of Smolov, exciting times ahead. Then to get my deadlifts and bench/ohp up. This year is a good year.

"Don't look at me, look at what training can do in any mans life!"
