Good work Dave. Cheers for the vid. Looks like all is on track for the Nats 8) ...that is othervthan the usual feeling of "toastedness"

Got a few things to sort out before Nationals rolls around, but I'm confident it will all fall into place. I expected the DOMS, not having a proper lower body training in quite some time does that!

thats a sweet bench u guys have there! awsome vid

Cheers John. It's a good bench, even if the other one is free I tend to weight for it if I'm going heavy! Proper comp specs.

Nationals - Week 7 of 16 - Monday

Intensity phase - medium stress

Suited Squat

200kg x 3 @7

215kg x 1 @7

225kg x 3 @10

215kg x 3 @9

215kg x 3 @8.5

New suit is surprisingly loose... I was getting depth with 215 reasonably easy. Need to play around a bit more with my stance etc. I GMed the last rep of a couple sets, that needs to be fixed. Probably a little playing around with my stance, but things went pretty well all things considered.

4ct Pause Bench

80kg x 3 @7

90kg x 3 @8.5

95kg x 3 @9

4 x 90kg x 3 @8

90kg x 3 @9

Need to get used to this again!

Nationals - Week 8 of 16 - Monday

Missed a session last week due to excessive drinking. Not something I normally let interfere with my training, but it was my last day of law school ever. And I needed to get DRUNK.

Suited Squat

200kg x 2 @7.5

220kg x 2 @8 (wraps on from here)

235kg x 2 @9

222.5kg x 2 @8

Called the session there, just a few little niggles I didn't want to push. Some ugly second reps as the vid will show, but not a bad session.

4ct Pause Bench

90kg x 2 @8

100kg x 2 @10

2 x 95kg x 2 @8

95kg x 2 @9

Got distracted mid set on 100kg by some baffoon, had to politely tell him to leave the area. Didn't help my lifting

Seated DB Press

45lb x 5 @7

3 x 55lb x 5 @8

55lb x 12 @10

Seems by estimations on RPEs are a bit off with DBs!

LPD

5 x 8

Hey Dave

Great squatting video mate, maybe I'll see you in the House in Nov?

Congrats on your law degree

stay strong mate

VP

Cheers mate. Touch wood I pass my last papers and get the degree. I'm leaving for Australia later this month so I probably won't be around for the House comp. I'm planning to go to Samoa for the Oceanias, but if for some reason that falls through I'll probably come back to Wellington for the BBro.

good work Dave...might have got called for depth? anyway good luck with your travels and plans...well done on the law degree too

Thanks Steak. They're all a touch high. I'm not worried this far out from Nationals. I made depth last session, which is odd for a first session in a new suit. So this session I didn't pull the legs up quite as far. More pop, but more difficult to get depth. I wasn't forcing the reps particularly hard, so it shouldn't be a problem to get it in a couple months time.

VP - I'm sure we will!

TT - I'm not entirely sure yet. I'd definitely like to hit the 600lb mark on the DL (272.5kg). If they squats going well maybe 600lb will be possible for that too. Bench... Gah, whatever I can. I originally wanted a 700kg total, but 682.5 would be good to get myself into the 1500lb club.

Nationals - Week 8 of 16 - Wednesday

Shirted Bench

Worked up to 125kg x 2 @10, left elbow was giving me grief. Called it quits early. I hate shirted benching. I'll give it a couple weeks off the shirt work then get back into it. Skipped the floor pressing today too.

Suited Deadlift

190kg x 2 @7

220kg x 2 @8

242.5kg x 2 @9.5

225kg x 2 @8

225kg x 2 @9

No broadband at the moment so won't upload the video for a few days. Lockouts are still funny. Once it gets to my knees I'm sitting back into it to lock it out. I thought this was because I was firing my glutes through, but once I sit back they come through easily. Now I'm 99% sure it's my lower back, which makes sense since it was injured. So I'll be taking measures to strengthen it.

NS SSB Squat (no belt and low)

110kg x 4 @7.5

125kg x 4 @8

130kg x 4 @9

2 x 122.5kg x 4 @8

122.5kg x 4 @9

Reverse Hypers

4 x 8

Nationals - Week 9 of 16 - Monday

Dropping video camera

1 camera x 1

It stopped working. Thought I had stuffed it for good, get it home and try to charge it... now it's fine. But didn't get to record anything. :(

Suited Squat

210kg x 1 @7.5

230kg x 1 @8.5

250kg x 1 @10

Massive grind on the 250kg. Felt quite weak today. Warmups were slow and the gear felt loose. I had an exam in the morning so that accounts for part of it. Not too worried though, a few weeks out of the gear to fill out the weight class and get stronger will solve those issues. I definitely feel a 272.5kg squat is achievable at Nationals.

Wrapping Matt's knees

2 knees x 2

Forearm pump and foot cramp. But the second one's pretty much put his knees in plaster.

4ct Pause Bench

80kg x 1 @7

95kg x 1 @8

105kg x 1 @9

100kg x 1 @8.5

Elbow a little iffy, but easy enough. 4 count is a really long time FYI.

Strict Log Press

50kg x 5

60kg x 5

2 x 50kg x 5

55kg x 4

Chin ups

5, 5, 4, 3

Nationals - Week 9 of 16 - Wednesday

Very little volume today. Taking it easy this week before getting into a volume block.

Reverse Band Bench (minis)

According to my journal this takes ~20kg off at the chest.

100kg x 3 @7

115kg x 3 @8

125kg x 3 @9.5

Elbows playing up. Left it there. Going to skip benching on Friday, give them a little time to come right.

Reverse Band Deadlift

Doubled light bands, giving ~60kg off the floor and nothing from just below the knee.

210kg x 3 @7

230kg x 3 @8

250kg x 3 @10

Picked the wrong bar, ripped my hands to shreds.
