Competition Week #3 - Day 3 - 90% - 3% fatigue

Squat (no belt)

140kg x 2 @7

155kg x 2 @8

170kg x 2 @9

165kg x 2 @9

Never squatted this heavy without a belt. It was odd, strength was there but the reps were very slow. Didn't feel like I was going to fail, and confident I could get another, but slowwwww.

MG Floor Press +25c

70kg x 2 @7

80kg x 2 @8

90kg x 2 @9

87.5kg x 2 @9

Modified the setup and grip on this exercise. Last week I had a wide grip and just hung the chains over the bar. I think this result in only a ~7kg different at the top from the bottom. Changed how I attached the chains, brought my grip in to halfway between the rings and the smooth. I think this result in a ~20kg contrast top vs bottom. Felt much more productive.

Snatch Grip Deadlift

110kg x 5 @6

3 x 130kg x 5 @7.5

Did a shrug at the top of each rep. Kept it light so save the back.

Seated Cable Row

50kg x 10

3 x 60kg x 10

how much it cost?

More than I'd like to admit. But I'll tell you anyway... $275. It's top of the line, so it better give me a decent amount. If it does I'm positive records will fall this year.

i'll be keen to see how much the suit adds brother thinking about getting one end of this year what is your's that's coming ?

Competition week #4 - Day 1 - 95% - 5% fatigue

Skills assessment, but decided to not do the deadlift today (will do on Wednesday)

Suited Squat

180kg x 1 @7

200kg x 1 @8

225kg x 1 @8

2 x 240kg x 1 @9

Messed up my first rep at 240, I'm not too sure what happened as a rather round spotter got in the way of the vid. Took 240 again and hit it pretty well. Camera angle is very high so tough to call depth on it. But 225 looked pretty good depth-wise.

Shirted Bench

115kg x 2 @8

125kg x 1 @8

130kg x 1 @9

135kg x 1 @10

I need a larger soft suit... Badly. I won't go into details but it doesn't feel good and it doesn't look good. Benching itself was okay. I did the 135 with a belt, I don't like it at all. It threw me out of the shirt's groove and I got very little support. On the bright side it shows that my triceps are pretty damn strong!

DB Bench

27.25kg x 7.5 @

34kg x 8 @9

31.75kg x 8 @8

31.75kg x 8 @9

CSR

3 x 10

Conditioning

8 mins on the prowler. Yikes.

Competition week #4 - Day 2 - 95% - 5% fatigue

Bench Press

97.5kg x 1 @7

105kg x 1 @8

110kg x 1 @8.5

115kg x 1 @9.5

Bench feeling a bit better again. New raw PB. Missed an attempt due a misload after it though.

Suited Deadlift

200kg x 1 @7

220kg x 1 @8

2 x 240kg x 1 @9

Suited Deadlift - Not particularly good again. But a number of weeks at heavy weeks for me, it's kind of expected. Hopefully things will come right strength-wise the next couple weeks.

CG 3 Board Bench

100kg x 6 @7

2 x 110kg x 6 @8

110kg x 6 @9

SSB Good Morning

3 x 60kg x 6 @7.5

Full write up:

I got an okay night's sleep before the comp. I felt fairly rested and healthy except for my shoulder which I slept on funny. I weighed in at 97.4kg. I did manage to forget my deadlift slippers and got a ride home with Matt to pick them up (thanks Matt).

Squat:

The warmups all felt pretty good. Did my last at 200kg and it felt really fast.

First attempt: 225kg - 2 whites, 1 red for depth from the side

I think I had my foot placement slightly wrong, and was off balance when I unracked the weight. It wasn't a huge problem but I banged the uprights as I walked out, I can't seem to shake this damn problem. I got a good breath, descended well and fast up. I was quite confident going to 245 at this stage.

Second attempt: 245kg - 1 white, 2 reds from centre and side.

I had a little wobble on the descent but corrected and got down to what I thought was decent depth (it felt the same as 225). Not super fast up, but still felt like I had another 10-15kgs in the tank. Couldn't please two out of three of the peeps with the lights!

Third attempt: 245kg - 1 white, 2 reds from centre and side.

Pretty much a carbon copy of the second attempt... It even felt deeper and easier. But again, couldn't please two out of the three who count!

Bench Press

Warmups went pretty well. It was pretty easy to touch even with 115 and the belt.

First attempt: 125kg - 3 whites

A little bit of bar bobble, and a fairly easy press.

Second attempt: 132.5kg - 2 whites and one red for uneven extension

Not the best descent, and hit a bit of a sticking point on the way up. Despite that I never felt like missing the lift, but didn't feel I had too much more in me.

Third attempt: 137.5kg - fail

Best descent of them all, but didn't get enough pop.

Deadlift

All my warmups felt fantastic, 200kg flew up.

First attempt: 230kg - 3 whites

Speed weight, felt good. Decided to do a bigger jump.

Second attempt: 255kg - 3 whites

This felt really good until lockout, where hips were a bit slow to come through. Definately due to my less than ideal setup. Something to work on.

Third attempt: 262.kg - fail

Well you can't say I didn't try on this one! For a little while there I thought I was going to finish it, then my grip gave out. Same issue with the second attempt, but a bit heavier weight :).

Comments

Not 100% pleased by any means, but not completely gutted either. I'm disappointed about the squats, obviously. It really killed my total not getting the second. I'll need to figure out a way to get a little more depth. Bench: not too bad. I need to work on the transition and just getting stronger in general. I have a tighter shirt to get into for nationals. Deadlift: work on setup and do some lockout work (probably involving bands).
