shane
What do you guys out there think of Horleys protien?? I use it and just wonder if anyone else likes it
Pseudonym
I like it. I also like the fact that Horleys has been really good to this website, ever since we started, but I'll try to keep that bias out of my review... :grin:I tried Horley's Awesome Whey not so long ago, and I'd rank the taste right up there with the best of them. Very creamy, and not too sweet (which was a nice change after sickly American proteins). The chocolate flavour was relatively mild. I often prefer a dark chocolate, but this was very nice - and a mild chocolate is probably a good thing to ensure you don't get tired of the taste.I believe they use NZ protein, which, as a patriotic Kiwi, I know must be better than foreign stuff. :grin:Price-wise, they're a bit more expensive than seemingly-equivalent products in other brands. They're probably better quality, but my gut feeling is they're still always placed slightly on the dear side. If they can hold their prices while the other manufacturers raise them (as is happening currently) then I think they'll be just about right. The only other drawback I found with Awesome Whey was that I couldn't mix it with a spoon. It's certainly better to mix than the likes of PVL Whey Maxx High Protein Powder (reviewed here) but you do still need a shaker. To be fair to Horleys, they never actually claim you can mix it with a spoon, but I regard this as a must. For what it's worth, I like Horleys' philosophy - they have realistic advertising, and don't promise the earth, and they tend to stick to tried-and-true supplements, rather than the latest gimmicks.Oh yeah, and they've been really good to this website for years. 8)

Cammo
I have a friend using Horleys (endorsed by his personal trainer of course - who's probably making a sweet commission on sales ).Too expensive for what it is for my liking - I've conditioned myself to not bother about the taste of my protein shake - It's serving me a specific function, I'm not drinking it for refreshment.....although it is nice if it's not gag-worthy.Optimum Nutrition's 100% is still tops in my book for value & price although I don't like their new packaging, seems like they've taken a step backwards (I'm a graphic designer by trade so I get passionate about dumb shit like that...lol). waldo
I have a friend using Horleys (endorsed by his personal trainer of course - who's probably making a sweet commission on sales ).You crack me up. It must tear you to shreds everytime you buy something knowing that someone is clipping the ticket. Why is it that someone who goes to the trouble to source, pay for, take risk for, etc...who then puts a cut on it for his troubles....gets ragged for making some money? We all know that the margin on sports nutrition is sweet FA...so they aren't making much at all. WHAT A CRIME!

WHAT A CRIME!I never said it was a crime, but you should hear some of the bullshit I've heard from my mate regarding this sort of thing - His PT's filled him up with MuscleTech type hype about his protein powder - it really is quite entertaining
waldo
Well, if Horleys cleaned up their act and got onto a proper marketing campaign stating their powder's nano-particulation making the protein molecules of AweSOME MASS 7400 x smaller and therefore more absorbable then his PT would be right.Instead Horleys made great efforts to rag other brands to retailers in a bid to up their sales. One of the worst ways to do business, and the one reason I will never buy a Horleys product.

Dumbelldog
Ed Aish is sponsored by them by the way, he should know all about it, but I guess he will have a biased opinion?
Pseudonym
Instead Horleys made great efforts to rag other brands to retailers in a bid to up their sales.Really? I didn't realise this, Waldo.Even so, I do get annoyed with companies that over-hype their product. And if a company wants to point out where competitors don't meet the wild claims they've made, I think that's a good thing. But there are limits, of course, and I don't know how far Horleys went in their ragging.

Personally, I prefer the Sucaryl tablets...usually add about 10 or so to 3/4 cup of oats for breakfast.
