Big Kiwi Sick

You post lots of great stuff Daz, but this ... is just plain stupid. You are basically saying that your life is only worth something if you're famous and rich?

what about every soldier to serve and die for NZ? What about the school teacher who inspires kids at school? What about the scientist who discovered penicillin?

dumbest shit ever.

But most of these people are doing what they enjoy anyway? What daz is saying is not everyone wants to be a regular bloke and die at 80 doing f*ck all. Zyzz wasn't rich at all anyway.

On another note realistically speaking how is a bodybulider dying from steroid use (if at all) any different from a diver drowning, a jockey falling off his horse, a bmx person severing their neck etc... Lots of other people die in their sports.

Its hugely different. You are comparing accidents to years of abusing drugs that could be detrimental to your health. If this was about guys dying from dropping 100kgs on their neck then yes it fits, but thats not the case.

Would you rather live a long life of obscurity, or a short life of success, surrounded by everything you ever wanted, and leave behind a legacy, that others are unlikely to follow...

my 2c....

You've taken what I was trying to say out of context, I was referring to Justin and his specific circumstances within the world of bodybuilding in NZ...

I believe he will be remembered within NZ bodybuilding, probably more so than any other NZ bodybuilder. He's done more than most, within bodybuilding and had a great life doing so, be it shorter than most.

He'll go out with a bang, but be remembered for it, that was what I was trying to say...

No probs I'll end my rant.

I disagree with you though. I think he'll be remembered as that guy who fucked himself up and ended by dieing a handicap and much too early. Just sad really.

Depends where you sit. Many of us wannabe bodybuilders actually consider him one of the few Pro's that could legimately say they reached a Pro physique standard. In that sense he was legit....a big kiwi by name & nature!

Sure he's responsible for most of whats wrong with him, particularly the enlarged heart, though I'm not sure how anyone explains the neuro / motor skill decline as linked to his bodybuilding or recreational habits? That said he never denied he was responsible or asked for sympathy - he simply appears to want to make others aware of the risks of all factors.

I guess I'd hope the next time you hear some 70kg soaking wet (usually 5kg of that's hair gel LOL), rolling the ILS in their labelled stringer, saying YOLO, you'll think what YOLO really means 20 years down the track.....

Just my 10 cents...

You both make fair points ... I am sure he is/was one of NZ's best, ever.

My problem only comes when see the 'live fast & die young' bull getting trotted out. I hate that. Live fast, live strong and live long.

Anyone who is willing to die young is either lying to put on a show, or has never really lived.

  • 1 month later...

In his latest interview he admits to taking 30ecstasy pills on the average night out..I don't think his problems have being caused by a little bit of gear use..

Must have been shit pills... The LD50 of MDMA ranges from about 100-300 mg/kg in assorted rodents. The single-dose LD50 in humans can only be guessed at, but may be on the order of 10-20 mg/kg (oral.) So a 150kg male would be dead somewhere between 1500-3000mg..

So for Big Kiwi, if an average pill is 100mg then X 30 thats 3000mg, in one evening, I don't think so..
