Had a chat to Matt rossiter for like an hour got me some mean motivation heading into tommorow hearing bout his lifts and accomplishments. Had a little go on the mono lift kinda abit weird but no big deal not gonna change anything I just set up how I been doing in the gym.

gonna have a fucking banquet now full of offseason cheat meals... Gymrat would be proud. Maybe some thai with my gf (hopefully don't give me shits) then for second dinner I'll get me dominos pizza and some sweet treats then hit bed. Get up early and hit Comp.

Thank you so much guys. Thanks to hamish and gpc. Also thanks to stressed out court, rua, rikki, Greg and big dan h and all the judges, computer girls, spotters and loaders that I don't know your guys names. Was an awesome day! Next year I will have to load/spot at a comp to give back.

well what a great comp it was for myself, I got 9/9 lifts, pb'd my squat and deadlift and got the total I was planning for (goal was between 760-780). I got 772.5kg. I set new records in all 3 lifts for my class (doesn't mean much as the records are still pretty new, but still did it). I won my class and placed 2nd overall.

i weighed in at 105.9kg

squat I opened on 250kg, 2nd attempt was 265kg... This attempt was the worst lift out of the 3 I unracked the bar and felt quite abit of weight on one side more than the other, tweaked my back slightly on this lift. 272.5kg (600lbs) was my 3rd attempt.... This I thought personally was a perfect lift 10/10 I don't think I coulda done it any better... Except squat more weight of course lol. My elbows were fucking killing me on squat was so painful! And was shitting myself for bench press.

bench I opened on 165kg... Flew up. By now my elbows were pretty much recovered but I was airing on side of caution. Originally after squat I said I was only going to do 165 then forfeit my 2 other attempts cause wanted to save elbows for deadlift. I didn't want to have no grip. But after the 165 I felt fine. 175kg 2nd attempt.. Flew up. 185kg 3rd attempt.... Easy lift. Coulda done more but I was satisfied with that and not much energy was spent on the bench press.

deadlift my back was a little sore in warm up from the earlier squats I warmed up to 220kg, back was tight but was loosening up after I repped 140kg during warm up. 1st attempt was 285kg was good lift bar slipped down my hand a few millimetres halfway up I thought oh f*ck here we go again. 2nd attempt 305kg this was a pb a really good lift and got me confident for my 3rd attempt which was a 10kg jump to 315kg. Got focused and smashed it! Was so happy, words can't describe. My gf wanted me to go for a 4th lift and so did I.. But tbh I was feeling so fucking good that I wanted to stay on a high I didn't wanna finish the day on a failed attempted. So a part of me wondering how much more I coulda done on each lift but we can find that out next year.

my videos on gfs phone but they be floating round fb and shit somewhere if u guys don't see them I try get off her phone and upload but u should be able to see them if u really want to.

772.5kg total. I'm really happy... This prep been slowed down abit by injury and sometimes I wanted to give up but I just kept going and now I reaping benefits of keeping on going in the way I feel today.

met lotsa ppl off the forum (past and present members) many of who I have already met, few who I havnt..... Tom lee chur brother first time I met u, you're a fucken strong c*nt mate! Epic lifts! 272.5kg squat for your bodyweight is awesome and I'm so glad I got my 272.5kg cause I woulda been pissed if you squatted more than me weighing 20kg less haha. Good to meet you and all the best for gpa worlds! Jimmybro, good to meet u too sorry I just say hi quick u took me by suprise and I was just busy. But thanks for cheering for me! Donz first time I met u too, mint 300 deadlift was was fantastic! And you only started deadlifting in April!

and my biggest thanks goes to Wookie for doing my programme when I asked him to help me, he didn't have to and he a busy man with his training and his church job but he did so thanks mate. Sometimes I think I know better but I stick to ur programme 95% of time and the Comp day advices like attempt planning and we did it mate. Mean!!

also to my gf, she stay whole entire day and go get me food and she musta been bored out Her fucking brain waiting for my lifts but she stay and support me xo.

Well done bro, had a few setbacks in your injuries but good job for pulling through and smashing some solid numbers out there. Honestly wish I could have been there to watch you guys lift and will definetly be there next year. Now I know I will be in good hands getting coached by wookie and looking foward to it. Keep that kudos bar full Tom!

inb4 Tom Hemingway lol.

Mate, that was such a comprehensive writeup, I've only just finished reading it today. :D

Seriously though, well done. I feel a bit stink that I wasn't there to see you guys, but I've committed to launching the new site this week, and there's a shitload left to do on it. (In fact, I've taken the week off work just to get it done, and it's still going to be cutting it fine.)

I'll be at the next one though, and you'll have even bigger numbers by then anyway. :)

Pseudo what will the new website be called?

Gymnation.co.nz. :D

The structure will be almost exactly the same as this one, just with more functionality, and a slightly spruced-up appearance.

And also do we just log on and pick up where we left off?

God, I hope so! That's certainly the idea.

Anyway plan for next 3 month...

im spending 35 days in aus theb back for 30 days (dev like xmas and shit) and away again for 30 days. All for work. So busy few months.

will train squat bench dead in 5x5 at begginning if workouts... deadlift might leave till end of workouts as usual ther induce mad back pump and carrying on workout is so difficult it's actually more productive if I'm training like a bodybuilder/power builder to do these last abit fatigued with less weight so start of workout is good. Then have a day every fortnight or 3 weeks to just do deadlifts that day meaning I can go heavy. I used to do this when I had a sole back day I would pull down, row etc then deadlift afterwards. Was ok. Only for 3 months then after that I should have more muscle on me taking me closer to 110kg then I can start proper programming to improve my lifts for 2015 and maintain that weight and probably body comp will chahge slightly but not a problem!

So I won't be updating daily over these next 3 months I might just do a weekly write up that might be a better idea.

cheers guys.

Coming to the end of the year now Iv stuck to what I said in my last post regarding the 5x5 on the big lifts after that just smashing the volume on the bodypart for that day... Going back to the bodybuilding roots tryna add muscle. Body weight still round that 105kg mark this is my training at present for those that are interested.

Mon squats/quads

Tues oh press/shoulders

Wed deadlifts/back power cardio

Thurs bench press/chest

Fri squats/hamstrings

Sat bench press/arms

Sun power cardio

The compound lifts at the start for bench and over head press are rotated so the bench could be a floor press, bench press, incline press, close grip bench press etc... Always use a barbell but mixing it up lots... Deadlift only thing that remains as barbell conventional. Squats Monday's are always paused squats and Friday's session is mixed up with either front, box, high bar, low bar etc these are all 5x5 then higher reps make up the rest of the workout. I see lotsa guys going in and squatting then leaving. To me on completion of the 5x5 this is signalling the start of my workout I'm spending about 2 hours in the gym at the moment. I'll continue this program till April/May from there I will change it up and prepare for the nationals again.

Definitely happy with how things are going. Will make a few more posts here and there but won't really start this bitch up till April/may. Have a good Xmas and NY, stay safe.

It's time to start this journal/log back up. Last year I said I would log my training and thoughts again, and now is that time. i havnt been training very heavy since nationals last year I havnt squatted over 220, havnt benched over 160 and havnt deadlifted over 240. But my intensity had still been high and those weights are being repped for sets. My plans for this year is compete in March, compete in June and compete again in September. March comp will not have a full comp deload. June will. September will. My current bodyweight is 107-108kg. I think the 100's would suit me better in September, but not worried about that for now. If I go 110's I really need to be training around 113kg. On a 24hr weigh in, 103-104 would be easy to make under 100. This is very doable with smart nutrition and perhaps a dry run in June would be the right move.

Last night was squats -

Back squat high bar

60x10, 100x10, 140x10, 140x10, 140x10, 120x20

Pause squats

160x5, 180x5, 180x5, 200x3, 200x3

Foam roll and stretch.
