nice!

your squats always look perfect lol never break down

Thanks mate. I try to make each rep as efficient as I can so i not wasting energy and can do the next rep well. And when I get to 300kg or above just hope that I have ingrained a good movement pattern and I am strong enough to execute it. Last week 285 didn't happen probably because of technique and confidence. Reasonably confident I could double that now.

deload this coming week then start peaking for the comp for 5 weeks.

Jeepers RT - just caught the video of those squats... looking awesome!  Enough gas in the tank to stand there while the spotter turns up, then pop out another deep-as... Nice!

Thank you bro. Appreciate you watching and your feedback.

im de-loading this week or resting week whatever you like to call it. For me this is training Monday, Wednesday, friday. No compound movements and just the assistance stuff only at the same volume but the intensity at around 60-70% of normal. So for example if before I was doing leg press for 3x12 with 10pps I will be doing 3x12 with 6pps this week. Which is actually really easy since I'm not squatting before hand. I don't think a week is long enough to start de-training, I don't think not squatting and not benching for the week impacts the comeback week or the comp day. I'm not sure when this starts to happen I think I read it was around 2 weeks.

so on Saturday it'll be 5 weeks till comp. my next phase beginning Monday will change to a peaking block of 5 weeks which includes the deload which is part of peaking. this means some big lifts in the next 5 weeks, getting an idea of what I'll lift on comp day, cutting weight to u100kg and coming in fresh and ready to win.

107 in the morning. So won't be extremely difficult. My mate doing the protocol for me. He done it plenty times for professional MMA fights.

I dont really agree with it all I think the 24 hour weigh in is the dumbest thing about powerlifting. But it's the rules. So if you don't take advantage of that then that's also pretty dumb. Besides everyone else is doing it. No idea how I'll find it all but don't know unless I try. I do know though that I'm not strong enough to win an overall on total but that doesn't even matter because GPC NZ is all about formula anyway. So If I miss weight and end up weighing 100.7kg instead of 99.7kg it won't make a difference to anything apart from records which mean nothing to me anyway I just want to win even though I still have deadlift and total record for u110. So I'll still have basically the same gloss score. So I'll be lightest in u110kg class but it doesn't matter.

Everyone talking a whole bunch of shit anyway and I don't think the totals will even be that big so coming on lighter will be a massive advantage. No one going to total 900 at nats. There was supposedly going to be 3 850 totals at chch and wasn't even one close. So you know im

not getting wound up in all that if I get close to 850 at u100 in July I'll Have as good of a chance as anyone. See how everything goes in Auckland champs pec and arm. I'm getting excited though.

Cool bro, sounds like you'll have a relatively easy time getting in. Probably lift at 110 odd on the day lol.

I agree the 24 hour weigh is silly but like you say it's in the rules and might as well make the most of it so looks better on paper.

Are they going to go by the rules of only class winners eligible for overall or guna be same as last year where everyone counts towards overall ? Otherwise which class you're in may matter if getting second will take you out of the race entirely.

I dunno where the 3 850s at Chch comp came from, I could have told you there wouldn't be any lol.

All comes down to the day I guess but I wouldn't be surprised if there is some 900 totals at Nats.

Also regarding records, they don't seem to be that well up kept as I'm still apparently not top of the U100 class, which I set the records in June last year lol

Sorry brah Jamie has the u110 record now.

Not that I have any doubts in your ability to take it back at Aucklands

Was as only going off the records on FB that got posted last week. Forgot his total from chch. Fair play.

Got to hype up the comps to peek interest man ?

Talking to Dale he was fairly confident he would hit 850 and very nearly did with his last deadlift.  Jamie would have been bloody close if he landed his last pull and Steve is capable, no one can deny that.  He just had a really really bad day (3/9)

A 900 or 2 at nationals is also a hopeful speculation until it happens.  If not then a couple of numbers should be pretty close but who really knows till the day.

Im surprised you haven't been credited with the u100 records Jackson?  Will talk to Don, who is the record keeper now, and get it updated.

Deload was last week and was nice to have a break and take things easy.

mon 14/03

machine shoulder press

3 sets

machine flye

3sets

incline bb bench

3 sets

seated db press

3sets

Side raises, face pulls, front raises

3sets

speed squats

180x3x3, 210x3x3

did my squats last today as the racks and platform was full of school kids. Gyms got some promo on with mount maunganui college so from 330-5pm its abit mad. By the time I got to my wrapped 210 triples in wraps I was pretty nackered but got through it ok.

here is my 3rd set of 180kg. Moving well. Fast. Deliberately easy. Big deadlift session tommorow and big week ahead which will set me up really well and feeling confident if I can get the numbers we have talked about.

Freaking training like some kind of bodybuiler eh? Sequins on yours undies?

Broooo trainer/coach confidentiality!!

Lol yeah I filmed my 3rd set of 210 but after 1st rep I needed to fart so was just standing there with weight on my back after first rep doing this fart (see facial expression) Then thought maybe it gonna be a shit so held it in and did the next 2 reps.

pretty hard to try do a speed rep, press against belt, stay tight and hold a shit in at the same time. Speed - fail, not shitting pants - success.

Wed 16/03

bench press

60x10, 100x5, 120x3, 140x3, 160x2, 170x1, 180x2.... Left it there.

180x2 was too set but did nothing else after it,

felt little strain coming down on the first rep of 180 in the same pec that has been torn. Thought f*ck it, sick of this shit so just benched it up got it up no worries and then thought wonder what happen if come down for second rep. Dropped the bar down fast so pec took no weight and pushed it up no worries.

was thinking bout pec on 2nd rep and forgot bout my bicep issue. No brain no pain. Literally did not feel pain in my arm on that second rep. I need to be bringing the bar down that quick on the first rep. Just gotta practise it and suck it up. Doing a slow negative coming down is destroying my pec. Iv known this all along the amount of work my pec is under coming down that slow must be extreme. So hopefully it's just a strain and see how it is in a week. Bit sick of it tbh so not really that bothered about it this time. It is what it is. Big squat session Friday so looking fwd to that. Sure this is only minor could even be scar tissue ripping who the F knows. Bit tight right now but icing it hard. See what happens.

Prep is going wicked anyway!

An exercise I threw in last year that worked well was a set of descents with a spotter each side and behind you to bring the bar back up so you don't have to press it.

Bringing the bar down so slow robs you of energy to press it so hopefully this would give you more confidence to bring it down faster
