140kg x5

200kg x3

240kg x6 PB previously 3 reps

Leg extensions
x12, 3 sets

Calf raises
x10, 2 sets

88.5kgs bodyweight.

First time using knee wraps again since January. It was a bit hard to reach depth, I had to let myself drop and bear the discomfort as the wraps bunched up at the back of the knee. 250kg next week.

Did you do this because Kyle Dolan did it?

LOL I was programmed to do 240kg today anyway but thought to myself hmm it would be a good idea if I did 240 for 6 reps like Kyle did so yes I did it. Think I could've done 8 reps though if I had known it was gonna be that easy.

Like I said, next week's programmed weight is 250kg then the week after is 260kg. Then the week after that is CAPO nationals.

Weighed in at 83.3 for Gpc bench. I cut 5kg from 87.2 to 82.1 inless than a day but my home scales were out by 1.2kg so I mmissed making the 82.5kg class where I was hoping to break the 120kg bench record. Ate and drank heaps after weighing in at 8am this morning and back up to 90kg now

GPC Auckland Bench wars 2014

83.3kg bodyweight, 90kg class

20 y/o, Junior division

Raw

1st attempt
145kg - Good lift

2nd attempt
150kg - Good lift

3rd attempt
152.5kg - Good lift

4th attempt
155kg - No lift

Ended up with 152.5kg which was a 7.5kg comp PB for me. That placed me 3rd in the Juniors where Paris benched 175kg at 100kg and Wayne Bennett benched 205 at 110kg to win the Juniors and 2nd overall. By formula, I would've had to bench 180+ to beat Wayne. Beast!

Pretty happy with my result, especially as I was unsure how making weight would affect my strength. After weighing in, I ate and drank non-stop throughout the day and ended up putting on 8kgs overnight. So I was lifting at 90kgs even though the scoreboard read 83.3kgs. Safe to say that I regained all my strength after cutting weight and maybe even more.

This makes me a lot more confident for CAPO Nationals in 3 weeks where I will do the same thing. I'll maintain my weight at 88-89kgs until 2 days out from weigh-in then cut 6kgs of water to make the 82.5kg class. Now that I know it doesn't affect my strength I'm a lot less worried about the weight manipulation aspect.

Going to sleep early tonight to prepare for a big squat session tomorrow. Aiming for 5 reps of 250kg on the top set.

Cheers guys.

Did squats last night

60kg x5
100kg x5
140kg x5
180kg x3
200kg x2
220kg x1
250kg x1 (wraps) PB
250kg x3 (wraps) a bit high

Still sick so I didn't want to exhaust myself and I went home after just doing squats. First time handling over 240kg on the squat so I can't complain but just didn't feel great at all. Wraps making it difficult to hit depth, I think next week I will do 3 singles on 260 instead of doing AMRAP and just focus on hitting good convincing depth all 3 times. Only one heavy squat session left so I need to make sure I make the most of it.

Today I did chest tris

DB incline (slightly less than 45*)
27.5kg x12
44kg x8
27.5kg x15
27.kg x12

Had fucking sore biceps/elbows from squatting last night.

Machine chest press
x12, 3 sets

Machine flyes
x10, 3 sets

Skullcrushers
x12, 3 sets

DB side raises
12kg x15, 3 sets

External rotations
x12, 3 sets

Facepulls
x12, 3 sets

Tricep pushdowns
x25
x30

Core 10 mins

Calves 8 sets

Long session today, I was planning on skipping chest today and just doing calves/core because I'm still sick and biceps/elbows feeling tender as but decided to man up and ended up doing a long as workout. It's so gay how I've been sick for almost 2 weeks now. Lots of people that I know have been sick for 2 weeks or so too so I'm guessing the bug that's going around is a tough one?

Bodyweight is down due to being ill, not much appetite. 87.5kg morning weight

Skipped gym the last two days due to being sick. Still went to work though lol.

Sumo deadlifts
60kg x5
100kg x3
140kg x3
180kg x3
220kg x3
240kg x2 Failed 3rd (PB)

Conventional
180kg x3

Hands were hurting too much to do more deadlifts.

Pullups
x8
x5

DB rows
30kg x12, 3 sets

Lying leg curls
x12, 4 sets

Hammer curls
17.5kg x8, 3 sets

Face pulls
x15, 3 sets

DB curls
9kg x12, 3 sets

Abs 5 mins

88kgs bodyweight. Energy is low from the flu which just isn't going away. Still happy to come away with a rep PB on 240kg. Was going to open on 240kg at Nationals if I got 3 reps with it but think I'll drop the opener to 230kg especially seeing as the squat and bench always affect my deadlift in a 3lift meet. I estimate that my 3 lift deadlift max is about 10kg less than my deadlift only max.

FUUUUUCKCKCKKK!!!!!!!

I'm still sick. Took today off work and told them I'm not coming in until I come right. Got an appointment with the GP tomorrow. Pretty much spent the whole day sleeping.

Trained chest with Montz just before.

Bench
20kg x20
60kg x12
100kg x8
120kg x5
Work sets
130kg x5
130kg x5
130kg x5
130kg x4
130kg x4

Was shooting for 5x5 but elbows were pretty tender right from the first set due to the flu.

Incline DB bench
30kg x17
30kg x12
30kg x12

Tricep pushdowns
x12, 6 sets

External rotations
x12, 4 sets

DB side raises
12.5kg x15, 3 sets

88kgs bodyweight, been trying to eat a lot to keep bodyweight up but it's hard with no appetite. I'll probably rest tomorrow and do squats on Wednesday or Thursday. Don't wanna do them until I'm better though.

I've read studies that say supra physiological doses suppress immune function so might be at higher risk. But I don't think it's a significant increase in risk as this is the first time I've been sick for this length of time. Like you said though, this winter seems to be particularly bad, lots of people at work falling sick and not getting better for a couple weeks

Daz would probably answer this best, but don't they sometimes give supraphysiological doses of gh and gear to aids patients who can afford it, and it's been shown to bring all their various blood markers of whatever it's called all the way up to normal ranges, as well as increasicg t cell count idk what that means but read it somewhere. Get well soon tho :)

Last heavy session before CAPO Nationals next weekend. Went up to 260kg to figure out my squat opener.

Squat
60kg x8
100kg x5
140kg x5
180kg x3
200kg x2
220kg x 2 (add knee wraps)
240kg x1
260kg miss, I drove out of the hole and tipped forward onto toes. I've never handled over 250kg so wasn't used to the weight and freaked
260kg x1 Not deep enough
260kg x1 Good depth PB

88kgs bodyweight.

Pretty happy with today. Flu is finally starting to subside, sinus is still very congested and I'm swallowing mucus all day. Hopefully it's gone by the end of the week. Since 260kg was a grinder, I'll set it as a second attempt and open on 250kg.

Planned openers are 250kg squat, 145kg bench and 230kg deadlift subject to become lighter depending on warmups, won't open any heavier than those numbers.

If all goes well, I'm hoping to get 272.5kg (600lbs) squat, 155kg bench and 260kg deadlift for 687.5kg total. I'll be happy with anything over 650kg though.
