Today I did my first shot of recombinant human growth hormone (somatropin). I have acquired a kit (10x10 IU vials) of Jintropin which is a Chinese pharma grade product. Jintropin is not FDA approved unfortunately. Being FDA approved is the gold standard of pharma drugs.

I will be running 30 IUs per week, divided into 3 shots. Shots will be administered upon waking. The reason I am running the GH in this blast fashion is because I am not interested in GH's lipolysis properties, I am more interested in elevating IGF-1 levels which I believe is the primary mechanism by which GH exerts it's rehabilitative effects. The reason I have decided to run GH is firstly for injury prevention, secondly injury rehabilitation and thirdly (least important) hyperplasia - long term muscle gains. I don't believe that GH will magically heal me but I want to see whether GH will allow me to train without being constantly hindered by injuries. Also improved recovery would be great as I currently struggle to squat AND deadlift heavy in the same week. When I do, I always tend to feel the symptoms of overtraining/CNS fatigue. In the past, this has meant that I would not do a heavy deadlift session on most weeks and instead only do a heavy squat session every week. As a result, my deadlift is quite miserable.

Injuries/niggles I currently have:
Right sacroilliac joint tenderness/inflammation
Rotator cuffs (not really an issue now after working on pec/shoulder mobility, rotator cuff strengthening)
Right elbow feeling tender/slightly painful under heavy load

So when I woke up at 5am this morning, I injected 0.5mls of sterile water into my 10 IU vial of GH and carefully rolled the vial until all the particles had been dissolved. I then drew up the 0.5mls/10 IU of reconstituted GH and injected it into my right quad intramuscularly using a Insulin needle (1ml, 29 gauge, half inch needle).

I then drank a protein shake consisting of 28g of whey isolate and 200ml of skim milk. I also consumed a 185g can of Sealord tuna in spring water.

The reason I consumed protein post-GH was my understanding that GH does not raise IGF-1 levels if the body is in a fasted state. The following is quoted from the below link: "This effect of nutritional status is reflected by the high GH and low IGF-1 concentrations seen in malnourished individuals (1), by the observations that during fasting IGF-1 concentrations fall to levels similar to those seen in patients with hypopituitarism (2), and by the fact that GH injections fail to raise IGF-1 concentrations during fasting (3)."

As I said, I am interested in maximising IGF-1 concentrations not fat loss therefore if any GH vets have any knowledge on nutritional protocol post-GH then any advice would be appreciated. Would consuming carbs along with protein be more effective in raising IGF-1 levels? I am wary of becoming insulin insensitive but if having a few carbs were to definitely raise IGF-1 levels more than protein alone, I would be willing to do so. According to this study though (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2673798/), the main macronutrient determining IGF-1 levels seems to be protein. Subjects following calorie restricted diets with low protein  had reduced IGF-1 levels. However, if protein intake remained high and the calorie restriction was achieved by restricting carbs and fats, subjects retained normal IGF-1 concentrations.

I didn't really feel anything following the injection, not that I expected to. Some people report feeling hungry or sleepy. At 8am, I had my usual breakfast of oats and protein.

I also got hold of some insulin which I will be running in conjunction with the GH. The insulin I have got is NovoRapid made by Novo Nordisk which is insulin aspart. Insulin aspart is fast acting, onset of action is 15 minutes, peaking at 90 minutes and lasting for 3-5 hours.

I had a lunch of steak and kumara at 11am. At 3:30pm, I mixed up my protein shake and intra-workout drink. At 3:40pm, I drank my protein shake which consisted of 200ml skim milk, 28g whey isolate, 5g creatine, 50mg Winstrol, and 5 grams of glutamine. At 3:45pm, I injected 6 IU of insulin into my abdomen subcutaneously. My intra-workout drink was a 600ml concoction consisting of the following ingredients: One packet of Raro Orange flavour drink mix and 1 scoop of Aminolast BCAA powder (watermelon flavour). The sachet of Raro contains 75g of sugar. I sipped 100mls of this sugar drink immediately after injectin the slin then drove to the gym where I commenced my workout at 3:50pm.

120kg x5 touch and go
140kg x3 to 2-board, paused reps

Machine chest press

DB flyes
14kg x15, 3 sets

Skullcrushers x12, 3 sets

Overhead DB extensions x12, 3 sets

Single arm cable tricep extension x10, 3 sets

External rotations x10, 3 sets

90kgs bodyweight at the gym. That usually means 88kg naked in the morning when dehydrated.

During my workout, I sipped on my drink and finished it by the end of my workout. I never felt any signs of going hypoglycemic and had a packet of lollies in my gym bag just in case. I did have the best pump I have had in a while but my workout today was quite pump-oriented unlike my usual strength-focused workouts. Also I am back on the bulk so that always gets better pumps than when cutting.

When I got home at 5:20pm, I had an apple then cooked another steak which I had with 300g of rice.

Also I got baseline IGF-1 levels tested on the 20th of May. At the time I was using about 500mg of Test E, 500mg of Deca and 350mg of Tren Ace. My IGF-1 level was reported at 20 nmol/L (ref range 14-57 nmol/L). So it seems my "natural" GH/IGF-1 levels are on the lower end of the normal range.

Since GH administration will dramatically increase baseline IGF-1 levels depending on dosage, getting my IGF-1 level tested will be a good way to confirm authenticity of the Jintropins that I am using. In 7 days next Tuesday I will get bloods drawn again. I will post the results as soon as I get them. Unfortunately IGF-1 is not a frequently requested so I need to wait for a batch to be put together. This meant that it took 3 weeks to get the test result back from my first IGF-1 blood test. Hopefully this time it doesn't take as long.

Good detail here, Leeroid. It seems a shame to hide it in the middle of a workout journal. Are you sure you don't want to put it in the Cycle Logs forum where it can help people who might be searching for this sort of info?

I'll post a review there of my experience once I finish my GH cycle. Would rather not run two journals simultaneously.

Be interesting to see IGF-1 results given how often Jin is faked. Unusual that such a high dose didn't make you sleepy given HGH's actions (most would notice this on doses less than half what you're using?).

Obviously not GHRP as you didnt get hungry, take a pregnancy piss test to check its not HCG, which anecdotally seems to be a common replacement.

Just for reference Yate's stated he used 8iu daily (4 & 4), and the biggest local I know uses 5iu (2.5 split) - may want to consider using lower dose but more regularly (i.e 6iu x 5 days / week), remembering half lifes (probably doesn't sit well with your established methodology tho?).

Good luck anyway big guy - take it easy on the slin, tho I know your maths is good so you should be fine! (Try getting a meathead to count carbs vs iu's - good night sweet prince! *bye*).

Is he really? That'd explain the Lee bit right?

I wasn't stereotyping TL at all, I've seen his equations on here & FB, but he's probably a shit driver too LOL jjk :-D

I've totalled a car lol. Not as reckless at driving now as I used to be after getting a whole heap of fines and writing off a 8 grand car.

I only bought 100iu of the Jins and if they turn out to be fake then I'm just going to give up on the idea of GH

Also bought a tub of casein protein powder. While researching IGF 1 I came across this study http://www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v63/n9/full/ejcn200934a.html

Basically the findings of the study are that whey increases fasting insulin levels (which is a sign of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance) and casein increases IGF 1 levels in young boys. So I'm guessing that the liver needs casein to produce IGF 1 and having a good supply of casein proteins in the bloodstream when injecting the bolus dose of GH should give my liver a good supply of raw materials.
