Square Chest?

Recommended Posts

The lower corners of my chest have never had definition, but the middle, upper and centre-middle (right above the abs) have definition.

Is it genetics, small chest or do I have to drop below 10%? I've also seen a lot more definition in other people's chest even though they were higher bf% than me.

I'm prob about 11% in this picture that was taken a few months ago.

I also have developed my chest through wide-grip dips, incline db press, flat db press and strength training on flat bb press in the past few months.

Thanks all

That image isn't working for me.

So here's a pretty generic answer: It's largely down to your genetics. Some people have quite round-bottomed pecs (like me), and others are very squared off. Dropping to a lower body fat will certainly give a more defined/chiselled look to it though, even if you are in the round-chested category.

Yuhp I'm aware of that. But I'm just wondering if it's the bodyfat%, because I've never seen or heard of genetics effecting the outer parts of chest.. especially the corners.

Maybe it's just that my bodyfat accumulates between my lats/chest more than the average person? Think so?

Your genetic coding controls how all of your cells develop? Thats how your muscles are formed. Inner or outer.

Yea dropping your bodyfat will show your pecs better but if they are a certain shape genetically only surgery or synthol can change that

OK, I think in your case it's a combination of size and body fat. Which is good news, because you can change both of those... genetics are much harder!

Oh, and massive traps, bro!

YES!

But that means I'll have to drop into single digits and gain alot more mass in my chest.. I can 3rep 120kgs on flat bench and 5rep 45kg flat db press, yet no definition in chest? :(

Good logic :)

I just went on a general assumption :l

I was just guna say get bigger overal, get a bigger bench and your pecs will go to their predetermined genetic shape but after seeing the pics and hearing your claims I'm guna havta call out for vids or gtfo :pfft:

haha I'd never lie about my PRs bro, but I can't really back it up cus I don't have any videos and don't intend to video myself lifting. It'll just feel weird in the gym I goto yknw?

Yeah, my eyebrow raised up all by itself when reading this, also...

So, get that vid up, and forget the phaggots in the gym. Big talk demands big proof.

To get your chest poking out at the sides, you will have to put on more size if you want more edge showing. Serious. When it swells out, it will fill that void.

Why does he need to post up a vid? The intention of his post was not to gloat about his strength.

Maybe just a situation where you press predominantly with your front delts and arms and don't hit your chest as effectively with those movements. Just growing over time will solve this problem and maybe some slight changes of form to make your chest do more work.

I have/had this same problem. Decent strength but not much to show for it in terms of chest thickness.

Because his picture doesn't seem to present the ability in my opinion. I leave my weights out of threads as it is certainly a point to prove. Stating facts requires evidence.

I am curious to see.

Not that I lift a ton.

??? I don't get this... to me in his pics he looks like he could lift those weights. It's not like he made some crazy claim of amazing weights...

I'm legitiamtely interested in seeing these weights being moved by that body, cos not meaning to belittle the OP physique but if I saw someone like that at the gym I wouldn't think they benched more than 80kg so I just wanted to see him do it

But yea get your bench up, put on somne body weight, nuild and chest and then maybe cut later on and you'll have a better looking chest :pfft:

'To get your chest poking out at the sides, you will have to put on more size if you want more edge showing.'

So I definitely have to build more mass? I'm hoping it's that simple..cus if it's pre-determined by some 'genetic' issue then I'm happy it's just a problem of having a under-developed chest lol

ah man..I might film some lifts but most likely not cus I'm short of equipment and it's not something I'd personally enjoy doing.

check this out http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/PhilNZ/ if you want pics for atleast some proof of my lifts (nohomo)

Yes, I've given this idea a lot of thought. tbh my triceps are lagging (don't know what happened?..) and front delts aren't over-developed.

Do you guys feel the full contraction of the chest doing a flat barbell press? like how you'd feel crossing the cables on a cable fly? Because I don't.. I feel it over my front delts, chest and tris. keep in mind that I do flat bb press for strength training, not mass development of chest. I do hypertrophy on dumbbell presses and feel the contraction in my chest alot more better.
