Hey guys...

My name is Dean and im 17 i wanted to start a bit of weight gain and toning my body. I'm currently quite lean and am a regular athlete in just about anything i can do.

I want to put on a fair amount of weight. But evenly dispurse it throughout my entire body. What kind of shape i'm after is a fairly average size i'd say around 75-80kg+ but quite a "cut" physique.

This video is the kind of physique i'm looking for -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH8Gzy3LGI0

At the moment im 68kg & am 6ft tall.

Bassically i'm still at home with my parents and i'm not sure about much of this body building stuff :|. So i'm looking to you guys to find some help about it. I know about eating alot and working out 3-4 times a week but other then that nothing.

What i'm looking for is a guide to a decent diet that i'm going to be able to continue to hold for a number of months to gain weight. - Also supplements that i'll need to take.

Also the kind of workout that would be needed to fine tune my body. I don't want to look like the hulk remember :).

Thanks guys will check to see a reply soon :D,

Dean

i was laughing too. But still that 'fag' has my basic shape of body and the physique i'd like too so he can show his muscles off to whoever don't care :D

I don't know what's in a hulking diet / ripping diet :(!

Ideas please? I've had a troll through some of the things people eat here or their own methods for gaining weight but they all seem to end up like 95+ kilos and to me look excessively muscular. I know this is a bodybuilding forum so it was expected :P.

Hi skytech.

First of all, I don't think you need to worry about becoming excessively muscular. It's really not something that's going to happen to you overnight - if only it was so simple! Bodybuilding takes months to see progress, and years to pack on the size, so you've got plenty of time to slowly ease up when you get to your desired build.

One of the reasons you might see people get bulky is because they think by "bulking up" and putting on plenty of fat, they can gain more muscle in the process. I don't entirely agree with this, but everyone has their own opinions... Also, growing bigger is addictive. It's not uncommon to keep thinking, "I'll just get a bit bigger... a little more, now... just a bit bigger still..." :D

Just a normal workout routine should be fine for you right now. To look like that guy above, though, you'll need to be very lean. You could do some extra cardio, but if you're already pretty sporty, you should look at your diet as well. What do you eat in a typical day right now?

Not to mention your legs contain the biggest muscle group in the body which in turn means more growth hormone released when the legs are worked = more upper body gowth as well as lower body from working the legs.

When people tell you squats & deadlifts will help increase the size of your biceps, they ain't joking.

I couldn't agree with you more!!

I've made excellent upper body gains just from squats and deadlifts... I don't work abs directly, and they're coming out just fine from doing these and other compound lifts.

Not really no, but i asked a trainer at my gym about some and he recommended some. Of course from his own shop ~_~.

Anyway, what have you guys used/recommed for a newbie ^_^?

At the moment i've just increased my diet dramatically and doing a weekly ruitine (sp) of bis/tris, legs, chest and shoulders. Should i perhaps increase to 4 trainings a week or would that hinder my progress by overworking? If not what excersize perhaps?

Protein powder is essential if you are training 3 times weekly!

For me, 3 times a week is all good, it gives me time to recover in between workouts but it's not too laxed

But I guess it all depends on the individual...

in your new split your back isnt in ther.. i wouldnt leave that out.

 I'm suffering the consequences now :shifty:

  • 2 weeks later...

hey sorry i am in Japan and havent been able to acess my account for some time. Obviusly if you have read some of the other threads youll pick up alot of of the other threads youll pick up alot of info but i found both the twinlabs an dymatize elite are great proteins, especially if you take double scoops after a workout. Over a period of about 12 weeks with no scoops after a workout. Over a period of about 12 weeks with no significant change in diet or body fat i put on 4kgs with the twinlabs. I dont know about the dymatize though, but it tastes really good. They were both about 70 to 80 dollars from XTREME NUTRITION in Albany, the people who own the shop are really friendly and know what they are talking about so if you can get there its good they also hook you up with deals every now and then.
