Other guy - "Yeah my mate got real fat so he can turn it into muscle"

Me - "You mean he's bulking and putting on a bit of fat as a result?"

Other Guy - "Nah he didn't train, he got fat so he had more fat to turn into muscle"

Solid plan

Sounds legit

Lol,

I have heard a rugby coach say this before too, people the earth is flat!

didn't hear anything I wear music on my head so people think I'm serious about training...but anyway I saw a guy on a mat doing sit-ups, for real~!

wtf is with that

oh yeah, and he was in the squat rack!

Guess he missed the warm-up area as he walked into the gym...or he wanted to use the safety bars in case he sat upright to quickly

Lol yep some ppl have no idea.

I had 260kg on the bar in a squat rack, was putting on knee wraps and some 50 kilo 40 year old crossfit lady came over and started doing stretches in the rack using the bar to balance herself. I said unless she was prepared to put that bar on her back and squat it she should find somewhere else to stretch

You don't live in Whangarei do you??? I will be honest I have done this, but I place the mat beside the rack and only when my WODs have me doing them together. But I do sit ups on a mat to help with my butt chaff, its painful and it bleeds. But I dont stop.

So something that I would never do, only cause you guys make me very nervous about doing anything. I mean I can squat 125 but 260 I'm walking the other way. Hope it all went well.

How did you know  , but the chaffing is common with guys from what I have found out as the seams of our shorts and stuff are right in line to where I chaff. And BTW is not bleeding its exudate,(bacteria and debris are phagocytosed and removed, and factors are released that cause the migration and division of cells involved in the proliferative phase).

I dnt personally know... I just know ur arse is for shit to come out of and not dicks to go in brah.

Vaseline ur chaff areas.

to start with, don't knock it till you tried it. And vaseline goes against everything that we are taught in nursing and medical school. I normally use a dressing until it starts to heal. It's just a bugger when you just get into the flow of things and forget to use a mat.

lol heard the craziest thing today group of guys (ressies i guess, never seen them here before) talking about supplements whey powder, creatine etc. they looked so serious and in to it but really not sure if srs...

they were going on about how its not natural and after some muttering they decided they'll sprinkle it in the garden with the vegetables then wait for that to sprout and get the nutrients naturally.

they became silent for a little then one of the guys suggested that it's still risky because of how easy it is to overdose on nutrients naturally or otherwise.

would have loved to listen to more of that gold but had to get on with my next set by then. next time i see them will have to invite them to NZBB so they can help prepare ratty for his comp

sorry I keep brining this topic out every 6 months.

but here is a quick compilation of the last few months most cringe worth lines:

"crossfit is way better for getting ripped, bodybuilding makes you too blocky and inflexible"

"machines are desinged to build more muscle than free-weights"

"form is more important than weight used" -skinny keent benching 10kg dumbells for a whooping 10 reps

guy: "Dude, nice body" me: "errrr, thanks". *help*

"oh my god those chicks are totally checking us out" -skinny stringer phaggot crew (they were not checking them out)

Haha! It's one of those topics that never gets old.

On a similar note, a UK friend posted this the other day:

I just witnessed quite possibly the most absurd exchange on the stairwell this evening.
Guy 1 meets Guy 2 (who is somewhat dark of skin) on the stairwell. Also imagine they both talk in quite a thick Midlands accent.

Guy 2 "Are you off to the gym now?"
Guy 1 "Yes I'm on my way there now."
Guy 2 "What music do you listen to while working out?"
Guy 1 "I'm listening to a song right now that gets me really pumped up but not sure your ethnic side would like it."
Guy 2 "Oh really? Why is that?"
Guy 1 "Well its a song called Betty"
Guy 2 "Ok?"
Guy 1 "And the word in front of it is...Black?"
Guy 2 "..."
Guy 1 "Black Betty? Have you heard of it? It's a real song like!"
Guy 2 "Yes, I know, It's a good song."
Guy 1 "Oh, right."

*dash1*

I made a thread with the exact same name since I didn't see this one, woops. Thought I'd put my overheard in the gym comment in anyway.

Personal Trainer: "Your balls produce all of your testosterone, so it's all in that area. It's quite happy to just sit there and not go anywhere but if you train legs really hard then the blood will flow more in that area and spread it to the rest of your body." I've actually overheard the same guy advising against doing full range of motion or counting reps. "It's all about the burn bro".
