Also, Big John I have a story that confirms Dannys story about DP's speed deadlifts during his warmup. In Timaru 2004 his last warmup was 315...if you blinked you missed it. I remember looking at PT when he did it and saying...FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK

Back in 1991 I think I saw Colin Cox become the first guy to squat 800 pounds (363kg) in NZ. Whatever you think about Colin, this was pretty amazing. In the same meet Derek squatted 350 kg.

After Derek I would rate Kevin Judson as our next best male powerlifter. He placed 4th at the Worlds I recall. In 1991 I saw him squat 310, bench 180 (no shirt) and deadlift 290. This at a bodyweight of 82.5 kg.

Had the pleasure of lifting in the same comps as DP.

My first CDs I opened on 180kgs, DP did the same I wondered what was going on. Except he jumped up 90kgs on his next 2 attempts, 180kgs, 270kgs, 360kgs thats was unreal.

3rd CDs he unloaded all the gear was a ref, we were doing our last warm ups on the Dead. He walks in, asks me what was on the bar,t me 190kgs, he speed reps 3, comes back in a bit later asks pt whats on that, 260kgs wacks that out then opens on 340kgs.

Will not see that again for a while.
