bench press

Recommended Posts

is it normal for your tris to die out before your chest ?

my bench starts with 90kg, i rep to 10, 90s rest

then my 2nd set i can only pull off 5 and my tris are FUCKED.

so i need to drop the weight to 85 and then 80 for my last 2 sets...

i do 5 sets total

curious if its normal, i heard you need strong tris to be able to bench alot.

there's like these marks i place my hands around them, its wider than shoulder width, not like too wide it seems like a neutral position for me, i got long arms if that matters, im 6'2.

Per chance you don't happen to work your tri's before chest, do you?

do other exercises first to isolate chest, ie do the peck deck and at end of motion when arms are in front of you pause and squeeze the pecks together for like 2 secs then repeat for rest of set etc...good for fatigue chest before compound exercises like bench etc...

Id suggest what these guys have already, Work the weight up. But also I'd do the compound exercise first (bench), followed by isolation to target the groups afterwards.

Also maybe consider doing some extra tricep work.

Something I found that helped my triceps was doing a couple drop sets after my bench sets. So I personally did 90kgs 12 reps, dropped to 60kgs and did as many as I could -no rest, had guys either side to rip off the 15kgs instantly, then Id drop to the floor and do pushups, get about 5 and then fall to my knees and do more pushups.

I found that got my triceps to catch up.
