All right, keep an eye out I'll post something good one day. I'm sure. :)

drizzt, please remove that quote from your signature. What you're doing is working for you and you're having fun doing it. Keep it up.

LOL'd hard!!!

That's the basic thing isn't it, if it's working you can't argue with it.

True that.

are you gunna persist with the sumos? with ur lower body strength n decrease rom could be a good go for some massive deads down the line when u get more a custom with tech side of it

Thanks bro!

Yeah I definitely think long term Sumo is for me, just for the back's health mainly. Not off to a bad start with it but I'm sure once I've nailed the technique it'll get up there a bit

Honestly with the T levels, I was more surprised than anyone due to how run down I've been lately. I think back when my T levels were on the lower-side of normal, I was restricting food intake a bit (worried about weight gain ) and I wasn't lifting heavy all the time (this was pre-smolov days).

Doc believes all of the heavy squatting I'm doing (/have done) is stimulating the body to produce more T. I think coupled with that, just letting the body gain weight for once has helped things along here too.

I noticed my 2nd set of blood results last year coincided with a bit of a gain in T levels too, and that was the same time I had taken D-Aspartic Acid. I only did it for 12 days, but I think I gained 6-7 points on my T levels at the time (from memory - should be somewhere in my log). Was also at the end of Smolov, so again, heavy squatting was in there too...

So DAA could be something to look at if he hasn't done so already? I'm probably going to jump back on that along with the creatine this week

I'll look into it...cheers. Did you stack it with creatine last time too?

  • Not a terrible session today. So good to know that if you're feeling like 5 reps could be tough at around the 1-2 rep mark... it doesn't matter anymore! Because you only need to get 3 reps! \:D/
So with that in mind, squats felt pretty good all throughout the warmups. Thought being a relatively unchallenging day today I can muck around a bit with the wraps and see what works etc. Probably won't get much of a chance later in the program...
Final warmup set, I brought my old Titaniums out for a spin. Thought I'd see how they'd go pretty loose so I could gauge whether or not I should use them for the top set(s). Was kind of a tough set at only 2 x 215! But still thought I'd gamble with them on the first working set, would just need to crank them tight.
Did so, and - despite being almost a year old and having lost pretty much all of their spring - it wasn't too hard. Just the tightness I was forced to wrap with hurt the legs a bit, made it quite sore when I got to the bottom of the rep, lots of skin/inside bits being crushed :x
Second set, I decided to see what a loose wrap with the True Blacks would do, and it was horrendous. Because one wrap stretches a bit further than the other, and it has a little bit of a "sheen" to it, it kinda slipped around on my leg a bit as I stood up. Not a good sign there, and probably should've re-wrapped. But because I can't be bothered with stuff like that, I decided to give it a crack anyway. The wrap that doesn't stretch as far was fine... but the other one basically gave me nothing all set. SO I had one leg going ok, and the other working overtime to keep up, not ideal!
So for the 3rd set, I cranked them up tight as, and they worked a lot better in unison. So I'll need to remember that in future! Might start blooding in my other pair, see how they perform together...
  • Bench was ok, felt pretty strong. Was mucking around with the arch stuff that Tonka put us onto, and it didn't feel too bad, but not really awesomely advantageous to me either. Although MT seems to get a fair whack out of it!
Came to the conclusion when reviewing the videos that this intense arch setup really isn't a lot different from my normal bench (arch-wise anyway)... but what the intense arch did do, was pretty much eliminate my leg drive. So while I potentially decreased the ROM a bit, I lost a little power in the process.
Felt much cleaner the 2nd shot at 140 (even though I only got 2 reps), and without as much effort.
I'll probably continue to play around with it, just to see what it does for my arch. I'm lucky (Reuben and Roy both said this) that I've got big glutes, because it creates a nice big arch naturally for me anyway. Knew the ghetto booty was good for something!
  • Assistance was fine, nothing to report. Shoulders were a bit creaky on dips but not really potential-injury-creaky.

Looking forward to more "relaxing" workouts :)

Yeah he's still dropping it a bit fast though which we might need to control a bit (according to one of the guys we were chatting to on the weekend), but definitely makes a big difference to him.

Feet up is definitely illegal in IPF, haha, it's more just arch work to get us used to setting up the back and stuff like that. Eventually we'll hopefully be able to lower the feet to the ground but keep the arch

Ah, that makes perfect sense then  Might be something to play around a bit with myself further down the line. I've got pretty much no arch, despite often getting lower back or hammy cramps trying to create one :pfft:

might be if you have a short torso?, i have no arch to speak of and my torso is relatively short. Yet i still sufferfrom the set up cramps

08.02.12 - Conditioning

103.6 today, and that was with a heavy-ish hoody on. What's changed lately? Have gone back to how I used to eat, basically skipping traditional breakfast in the morning, starting with food at 11am-ish, finish eating for the day before 8pm (really depends on when I get home though, but I target as close to 7 as possible). Low-carb for non-training days, and training days are pretty much anything goes (within reason but if I see something I want, I'll have it)

So I've dropped the milk+protein+oats that I was religiously blending to a shake in the morning on the diet I was given, and it seems to have had an immediate effect, coming down from 106.5 on Saturday... (although there was some binge drinking on Saturday :shifty:) Wee bit of adjusting going on hunger-wise in the mornings, but it's passing quicker as I fall back into the routine.

  • Conditioning
    Stretching + PVC rolling
    3 x 10 band crunches @ green band
    10 x 43" box jumps
    Rowing machine x 1000m (3mins 32sec)

  • Nothing to say really, was going to do a lot of cardio to get more "solidly" under the 105 mark, but weighed in and turned out I didn't need to! Being the "deload" week we want to take it as easy as we can, so will be cutting back on assistance and resting well for when it starts to ramp up again next week.
I didn't walk all that way for nothing though, so did a little bit of work before getting home nice and early for once 8)

Yeah I actually did this way of eating for most of last year (when I got a lot of my gains), only switched at the beginning of this year because I wanted something a bit more structured than what I was doing, but a few kilo quickly piled on. Wouldn't be so worried about that, 'cept it put me out of my weight class...

I make sure I get plenty of protein in my feeding window, what I'm doing is pretty much leangains, or at least leangains-based. Not purposely straying from it's rules as such, just don't mind if I'm lax (and that's one of the purposes of it according to the guy who coined leangains - is to have it be quite flexible).

nekminnitt.......:P

ok all good, I've always been schooled on the 2-3hr injestion of protein with a slow release at night and if you were serious.....up in the middle of the night to take in more protein...then first thing in the morning, back into the protein (fast release).

I knew it......very rarely have I done it haha

Yeah I used to be a believer in the constant protein sorta thing, and it works as well as anything I think, but this way seems to work well for my muscle/strength gain, as well as keeping my fat levels down. Also enjoy training fasted (on BCAAs), just feel so much lighter, freer of movement and nothing in the stomach to make you lethargic... if that makes sense 8) My body seems to be a really finnicky thing, I can put weight on by looking at a piece of fruit, and I found this way seems to work for my body so I'm not gonna argue

  • Ok day today, had the new Titan sleeves to try out for my elbows and I love them. Just like my Rehbands, same thickness, same seam stitching, and pretty much the same material (the Titans are a little more sheeny I think). The XS size I got (and was sceptical about whether the sizing charts were right) is perfect - tightish on the forearm (kinda like the knee sleeves are tight on the upper calf muscle) but just the right amount of snugness for the upper arm. One session down in them, but I'm sold, and a few of the boys had a try out and quite liked them as well. Although Matt's arms were way to big for them  Too swole! :pfft:
  • Anyway, to it, the pin presses felt crap in the warmups, but something clicked and the working sets were all a breeze. Got some vid footage this time, I've definitely made it a "fuller-body" movement than anything strict, but I quite like it like that, and I do feel like it is carrying over to my bench a bit.
  • Deads were a bit meh, not great, not bad. Couldn't be bothered sumo'ing for any of the working stuff so I didn't.

In for another early Saturday one, as the House is hosting a novice comp so we needa get outta there before everyone starts warming up, and then I've got to shoot to a wedding, so a bit of a hectic day!

Good to hear the sleeves fit well, I was pretty skeptical of the XS too when I had a look at them, thought they'd be cutting off circulation or something :pfft: Stoked with mine as well, think they're helping my knees track better and keep the patella in place.

Those deads were looking quick and easy
