^^ Indeed, thought I'd bake up some more Swole today.

IMG_0928.jpg

2nd photo looks a bit messy, but I like to spoon the choc/raspberry in randomly as I find it looks better in the finished product

It's baking now, and gotta leave it to sit overnight, so won't have "complete" photos until tomorrow :( But I think it's gonna add +5kg to my Saturday squat

Loving the seefood diet 8) Trouble is though, I had a roast lined up for tonight, and this is now in the oven  Leftovers from last night it is...

06.10.11 - 5 x 5 W5/D2

103.6 today, fairly standard these days! (especially when I eat the above sorta stuff!)

  • OH Pin Press (sets, reps, weights)
    Warmups
    bar
    1 x 5 @ 40kg
    Working
    3 x 3 @ 80kg

    1 x 2 @ 170kg

    1 x 3 @ +15kg
    1 x 3 @ +20kg

  • OH pin press was great, easiest it's ever been. Lovin' this exercise
  • Deads were good, pretty sure this is a beltless PB but meh, who cares on Deads - I'm not even sure the belt gives me anything. Everything felt snappy, was in the zone tonight. Fast off the floor, probably coulda done my 5 x 5 this week... :shifty: Jokes.
All smooth apart from the first set, where M.T misloaded his side and gave me a 10 instead of a 5. Was wondering why the bar came up unevenly, just assumed I had fudged my grip so banged it out. Then was unloading the plates when M.T came clean with his sabotage :pfft: All good
OH everything was hook gripped (and beltless if you didn't catch that). Standard. Really looking forward to these 3 x 3s, triples just don't daunt me  (he says before it gets tough)
  • Chins were awesome, strongest they've felt in ages. Was supposed to do +10kg for the last set, but saw M.T doing +20 so I copied him (tit-for-tat sorta game)... until I realised he was going in the correct order of 10-15-20 (I was doing reverse) and he totally faked me out  So already with the 20kg strapped around my waist, I did it anyway, dead hangs too, and got it pretty easy.

Great day in the office, roll on these tough squats (and cheesecake, om nom nom)

Ha yeah I usually have the odd baking/sandwich making/elaborate dinner meal once or twice a week, this one was spurred because it's my turn tomorrow to provide my team at work with cake. Lately it's just been shouting everyone for coffee, but I decided to bring tradition back into it and give em some baked cheesecake goodness. The raspberry chocolate bake never fails 8)

And cheers! Felt great today, deload must be working

  • Squats were great today, feeling real refreshed. Gave 195 a crack without wraps, didn't feel too bad. First 2 reps were arguably ok-ish depth wise, 3rd was a bit high.
So wrapped up kinda tight for the 215, didn't wanna take any chances as this weight range is still quite new to me. But ended up banging it out really easily, much easier than it felt last week, and I didn't really need to psych myself up for it this time. First rep was a little high, but that was more because it was my first rep with wraps for the day - so was just finding my range - as opposed to having any difficulty with it. 2nd rep was bang on and 3rd was deep. All easy as! Definitely feeling confident leading into the weights to come... 205 3 x 3 scheduled for Tuesday actually sounds a bit light now :shifty:
  • Bench was great, no shoulder issues and reps were nice and fast. You-go-I-go so no real rest between sets. Definitely think the step down in volume of squats is helping here.
  • Turks were the best they've ever been, don't think I've ever gone higher than the 20lb DBs (apart from 1 rep per side using a barbell), but was feeling great on these today so I upped the weights a tad. Was meant to be doing 5-15-20lb, but stepped it up a notch, and didn't really get too difficult throughout, until the final rep of the last set. Feel like I'm nailing the technique here which makes a hell of a difference. All about getting up really quick I reckon.
  • Powercleans felt good, got a little video I'll post up. Was gonna do rows instead (because the platform was in use) but randomly did a powerclean just for fun, felt good, so I kept doing it.
  • Little bit of assistance at the end, nothing to say there.

Great day in the office, really confident about the weeks to come now.

Pity our post workout meal took about an hour to arrive today! 2 for 1 big breakfast so that was good, and they were nice people... but waiting that long in a moderately busy place is a big turnoff. Even with the 2 for 1 deal. Only downer of the day really! At least the food was passable.

Just uploading squat vid now...

Here's a set of powercleans from today for some more scrutiny, if people wouldn't mind having another glance! I've done a super slo-mo for the final rep so hopefully people can pick things apart a bit more.

Really concentrating on the start at the moment. Keeping the back flat, elbows out, shoulders over the bar, chest out, and nice and slow off the floor. Also widened my grip and stance a bit which seems to really be helping.

11.10.11 - 5 x 5 W6/D1

102.8 today, fairly standard. Have been saving carbs for post workout (as of umm, one workout ago :shifty:) so expecting a bit of unnecessary fat to slide off over the next week or two. Shouldn't affect my lifts, but if I notice them going down I'll head back to seefood diet.

  • Squats (sets, reps, weights)
    Warmups
    bar
    1 x 8 @ 60kg
    1 x 6 @ 100kg
    1 x 4 @ 120kg
    1 x 2 @ 140kg
    1 x 3 @ 160kg
    1 x 2 @ 185kg (beltless PB)
    Working
    1 x 3 @ 205kg (b)(wrapless PB)
    2 x 3 @ 205kg (b/lkw)
  • Bench
    Warmups
    bar
    1 x 8 @ 60kg
    1 x 3 @ 90kg
    Working
    1 x 3 @ 125kg
    1 x 3 @ 115kg
    1 x 5 @ 100kg
  • Dips
    1 x 3 @ +15kg
    1 x 3 @ +30kg
    1 x 3 @ +40kg
  • Power Cleans
    3 x 3 @ 60kg

Comments

  • Squats felt great tonight, couple of minor PBs in there. Depth was a wee bit questionable, but a bit of obstruction from the spotter to be certain... I'm happy with it being close enough for both the 185 and 205 (wrapless) sets
First time I've used my "training" wraps above 200kg, and they were c*nts. Just couldn't seem to find a good wrap with them. You'll see on vid, the 3rd set I had a huge amount of overhang because I couldn't seem to get the 4th revolution around my knee, but everything prior was sweet. So the wraps covered a smaller area than I was used to, and was slipping down over my knee cap during the reps. All good though, got em out in the end which is the main thing. Will try to stick to these wraps as much as I can, as they're challenging... so using either the new THPs or the Titaniums should feel like a big step up when I need them.
Have consciously brought my stance in maybe a foot width which really seems to be helping with rebound of the wraps. I think I started slipping outward at the beginning of the cycle, which I never really got accustomed to.
  • Bench was sweet, worked from the top down this time. Didn't get a chance to do it on it's own yesterday, but it went so well today that I may not need to separate the days anymore. No shoulder complaints and the reps felt snappy, so much so, that I threw an extra couple out on 100 as that felt incredibly light.
  • Dips were good, nice and deep (tried to "kiss" the bar in front of me on each rep). Powercleans were average, but meh. Was pretty spent by the time they rolled around.

Vid to follow...

RE power cleans, your setup looks good matey. You could maybe be over the bar a fraction more. Also, you look like you're bringing your hips through too early (see attachment). Practice staying over the bar longer so when you open up it looks like this

I would be giving you more regular feedback but I'm trying to avoid the internet over the exam period :)

Stick at it!

Good advice again bro, thanks! I'll start finalising this start bit now and thinking more about the next stage (hips).

Hips are a traditionally weak area for me so this could be the most challenging part of the PC to fix. Feel like I'm making progress though which is good.

Thanks again man

13.10.11 - 5 x 5 W6/D2

103.5 today, ironic, because I've been making a concerted effort on carb timings so far this week haha. Ah well if it's gonna work it'll work eventually.

  • OH Pin Press (sets, reps, weights)
    Warmups
    bar
    1 x 6 @ 40kg
    1 x 3 @ 60kg
    Working
    3 x 3 @ 80kg
  • Deads
    Warmups
    bar
    1 x 5 @ 70kg
    1 x 3 @ 120kg
    1 x 2 @ 170kg
    1 x 1 @ 200kg
    Working
    3 x 3 @ 220kg
  • Chins
    1 x 3 @ +25kg (wasn't quite all the way up on reps 2-3)
    1 x 3 @ +20kg
    1 x 3 @ +10kg
  • DB Skull Crushers
    1 x 10 @ 30lb/ps
    2 x 10 @ 40lb/ps
  • Standing EZ Bar Curls
    3 x 10 @ 10kg/ps

Comments

  • OH Pin Press was ok, lost my way a bit on the 3rd set but no better or worse than last week.
  • Deads were pretty good, no belt again, beginning to think it doesn't really give me much anyway, but may try it next week as I've got 3 x 3 @ 230kg scheduled :-s All hook gripped again - peeled my first thumb callus off today  Hands/thumbs are toughening up nicely, grip never feels in danger of failure, don't even notice it during sets tbh.
  • Chins were ok, started the first rep at +25kg from a dead hang which kinda spent me, so for the next couple of reps I barely got my nose to the bar. +20kg was better, but didn't really dead hang for it. +10kg was all dead hang, all unassisted, good set that one.
  • And did a couple of assistance exes to finish on the gunz, as I didn't get in yesterday. Thinking because day 2's are so short, might as well take the opportunity to tack some extras on the end. Probably do some more after Day 3 as well.

Aaaand vid here:

I've come to the conclusion that I'm gonna stop logging my workouts on here and PH in the leadup to the BBro, just want to put my head down, fly under the radar, and do my talking on the platform. I'll still pop in and out of journals and threads, but my training will be undercover from here on out :-)

Will keep recording vids, and may post a quick compilation in the immediate leadup to BBro, but otherwise will be quiet from me so I can focus on my training (and work!).

See you all on the platform :salute:

  • 2 weeks later...

Just a quick vid of my bro and Pablo squatting today:

As for my training, it's coming along ok. Had a bit of a weight scare Tuesday this week - found myself weighing in at 105.5 :shifty: But around midday today, I was 103.4. Definitely think it's because of the volume dropping down from 5 x 5, to 3 x 3, and I'm just not burning as many calories as I used to (but still eating like a monster!). So I did a GPP session on Wednesday, and will be back in tomorrow for some more. Nothing too strenuous, just sleds and stuff.

Just two weeks of the program left, and 5 weeks from today to BBro. It's getting real!

Not for long! Just until BBro is done with, I'm thinking I over-analyze things a lot, so just wanting to see how not logging my workouts will affect my output :)

I like your journal it's always very interesting, you write things down that I have thought about in passing but you analyze them which is great! Not long now till Bbro

Thanks but I have a hard time believing anyone really reads it :pfft: Use it more as a place to vent, but it's been using up a lot of mental energy thinking into what I've done.

And I know! 5 weeks! Nervous times ahead

I make a point of stopping by every now and then. But I'm not impressed with this last check-in. There's too much yummy food here, and I'm in full-on cut mode (stupidly made a bet with a mate to see who can get the leanest by Christmas).

Raspberry chocolate cheesecake?! You've got me salivating hard now, you bastard.

=P~ =P~
