I reckon!

But his bench has flown past mine, and I could bomb the squats if things don't go well. Deads are unknown for both of us, but just after the light ones yesterday the arm felt pretty crap... although the lift itself wasn't feeling too bad.

But guess we'll see what happens on the day.

Got some more bloods done on Friday, and received the results today. Reasoning being I wanted to compare the bloods from the beginning of a taxing program such as this, to the end of it, and see if anything had changed significantly.

Previous results in Green, new results in Blue.

eGFR = >60/>60 (results only reported if they're <60)

VitaminB12 = 1205 pmol/L/1088 pmol/L (RR: 130-830 pmol/L)

Folate (serum) = 32.2 nmol/L/33.5 nmol/L (RR: 9-45 nmol/L)

T4 (free) = 20.2 pmol/L/not tested (RR: 12.8-20.4 pmol/L)

T.S.H = 1.1 mIU/L/1.4 mIU/L (RR: 0.4-3.8 mIU/L)

T3 (free) = 5.1 pmol/L/not tested (RR: 4-6.8 pmol/L)

Testosterone = 16.1 nmol/L/21.5 nmol/L (RR: 9-25 nmol/L)

IFCC = 38 mmol/mol & HbA1C = 5.6%/34 nmol/mol & 5.3% ("excellent range" is 42-53 & 6.0-7.0, lower appears to be even better)

Creatinine (serum) = 100umol/L/110 umol/L (RR: 65-110 umol/L)

Haemoglobin = 146 g/L/149 g/L (RR: 130-180 g/L)

HCT (PCV) = 0.428/0.440 (RR: 0.38-0.52)

Red Cell Count = 4.99 x 10*12/L/5.13 x 10*12/L (RR: 4.5-6.5 x 10*12/L)

MCV = 85.8 fL/85.8 fL (RR: 80-98 fL)

MCH = 29.3 pg/29.0 pg (RR: 27-33 pg)

MCHC = 341 g/L/339 g/L (RR: 310-360 g/L)

Platelets = 237 x 10*9/L/279 x 19*9/L (RR: 150-450 x 10*9/L)

White Cell Count = 9.2 x 10*9/L/8.6 x 10*9 (RR: 4-11 x 10*9/L)

Eosinophils = 0.1 x 10*9/L/0.2 x 10*9/L (RR: 0-0.5 x 10*9/L)

Basophils = 0.0 x 10*9/L/0.0 x 10*9/L (RR: 0-0.2 x 10*9/L)

Total Protein = 72 g/L (RR: 60-83 g/L)

Albumin (serum) = 47 g/L (RR: 34-50 g/L)

Globulins (serum) = 25 g/L (RR: 20-35 g/L)

Probably not very interesting stuff for most of you! But I think it is really cool to be able to do this at the beginning and end of a cycle such as this, and to see the changes at a cellular (?) level as opposed to the physiological ones such as obvious weight gain and size increases.

For me the most interesting one was a rise in the Test levels (only changes to supplementation were Creatine + DAA). May have something to do with holding a bit more weight? May just be better/more food. Dunno really, just speculating.

Also interesting to note that my Liver is almost as clean as it can get (as Doc put it) - only drinking once in a blue moon must have something to do with this :grin:

White cells are slightly down, and Platelets are slightly up, but nothing that suggests a significant shift in a better or worse direction I would've thought. Doc says there are beginning to be signs of tiredness creeping into one or two of the results, but again, nothing to worry about really. Red blood cells are also up a tad.

  • Sled Drags
    1 x 5forward/5reverse @ 50kg sled
  • CG Pulldowns
    3 x 12 @ 50kg
  • Good Mornings
    1 x 10 @ 60kg
  • Prowler
    1 x 4hi-bar/4horns @ 45kg prowler

Comments

  • Bit of a nothing session today really, just wanted to go in and get a bit of conditioning and stretching in. Did a lot of work with the tennis ball in the shoulder, and both Tibialis Anterior muscles which was great.
    GHRs were tougher than I remember!
    Realised after the set of prowlers that we were just mucking around without a goal, so we left then.

That's it before Saturday, we'll take the rest of the week off as that seemed to work well before our Base Cycle test day.

I reckon its from all the squats. Squat more = Increased test. I think I can market this.. :pfft:

Sorry if you've mentioned this already Drizzt, but what was your diet like during Smolov? And did you experience a noticeable difference in leg growth from when you first started ?

So do I! I dunno maybe that isn't really far from the truth, but the increased bodyweight probably has something to do with it.

Sorry if you've mentioned this already Drizzt, but what was your diet like during Smolov?

Diet was preeeetty much whatever I wanted, but I didn't really go crazy. I tried to adhere to low carb/hi fat/low cal rest days, and hi carb/low fat/hi cal training days, but it didn't always work out that way... particularly training days where sometimes I'd have a decent bit of fatty stuff.

There were training days where for dinner I'd go through a half kilo of mince, half kilo of kumara (uncooked weights)... be unsatisfied with that, and then cook 400ish grams of steak and STILL be hungry :shifty: But there were also days where I skipped dinner in favour of a (protein-ish) snack of some sort, because I just didn't feel hungry at all.

Really, just listened to what the stomach was telling me which didn't work out too badly :) Wee bit chubbier than when I started but not overboard yet I don't think! :pfft:

And did you experience a noticeable difference in leg growth from when you first started ?

Yep, definitely noticeable. That's the first thing some people say who haven't seen me since I started the program (and don't know what I've been doing) - that the legs are looking bigger. I guess it's kinda the spot I put weight on first when I get heavier though. But in saying that, I've never really been great at activating my glutes+hammies (always a quad-dominant guy), so with the better technique I've developed I'm finally starting to use these muscles, and they seem to have responded with a decent bit of growth.

Also reviewing the videos from start to finish, we notice we gradually get a lot larger in the thighs, haha. I think M.T is going to try and put together a side-by-side comparison of the first and last week legs.

Oh, and I had to buy a new pair of work pants because I had to shuffle-walk in the last lot, and hardly any of my jeans fit me anymore without looking like emo-skinny jeans :pfft: :pfft: Proportionate to the legs, the waist size hasn't increased too much, but it has definitely gone up since the beginning of the program.

Sorry for the long reply! I get carried away :oops:
