Class 1 Height over 1.79m weight under 87kg

Anyone over 1.85-1.90 or so won't have a chance at looking decent under 87kg :-s

It is an Athletic Class Phedder. You would be surprised how the taller guys can come in if their condition is tops. Otherwise you are looking at going into NABBA Men Class 1 where you have no weight restrictions. Whatever suit your physique.

Has the tall class been contested much - have been trying to find pics of a guy that tall and under the weight requirement. Would have to be ripped to bits to make that scale.

Internationally the classes are contested - Kris Porthill (Aussie) continually comes into great condition - go to

http://www.internationalpersonaltraining.com. He is now based in Queensland I believe. Both himself as well as Al White (also an Aussie lad) - are two guys at that height that have competed well and come away with international titles on the WFF stage. Since then, Kris has now stepped up into the NABBA Class.

There is no doubt that we will see this kind on condition on the Nabba/WFF NZ stage also.

No doubt those guys look great  I think my original statement was very poorly worded, obviously they can look decent under 87kg. The point I was trying to make (and failed  ) was that surely someone at 1.79m versus someone at 1.90m, given bodyweight and condition were equal, the shorter guy would clearly have the advantage. Don't some other organisations use a formula for height and weight? Something like height in cm -100 = maximum competition weight? That seems more fair to me.

Your forgiven  but you do make a valid point. However, there are more than enough classes to allow all athletes to compete in. At the end of it all, our fed, both here and internationally follow these guidelines. There will be room for continued improvement and classes can be added in the near future. But in saying this, there will always be those who will decide that a particular class is not for them, and furthermore, there are always those who will be wanting more classes. Not everyone will be happy, and this is just part and parcel of it all. Nothing in life is fair, and there is no assurance that another formula would guarantee fairness either. As mnz added, there are the NABBA classes that people can step up into if athletes feel that they may not be able to make their weight class. Afterall, it is up to the athlete to choose the way THEY want to LOOK - and if they are happy with their choice, thats all that matters.

is the nabba-wff running the north harbour show after nationals in october this year?

NZPT no NABBA-WFF are not running that show as its run by the other nabba thats been running shows in NZ for years now and the people and the name they are still using is not recognise by the real NABBA and if you are thinking of doing a show with the real NABBA then lookup

http://www.nabba-wff.co.nz

also i think i know who you are and i would say the WFF would be the one for you.

Do the NABBA classes for each hight still have a novice and open class?

There generally is a -

NABBA Novice Men Class - never placed 1st in any competition any federation.

There is no Open Class. The winners from -

Men Mr Class 4 Height Below 1.65m

Men Mr Class 3 Height Between 1.65m and 1.72m

Men Mr Class 2 Height Between 1.72m and 1.79m

Men Mr Class 1 Height Over 1.79m

compete in the NABBA Mens Overalls for Overall Title.

Am I correct in saying no couple class in NABBA/WFF?

Its not a listed Class, Stef as it would seem not to be a very popular option these days, however I guess if there was sufficient interest from 2-3 couples a promoter might consider running the class for its entertainment value more than anything but there is no place for it in International Competitions.
