My best present today was a new close grip handle for tbars and pulldowns.. one of my friends bought me one cos I broke the one at the gym a couple of months ago and they still haven't replaced it!!!! Oh and it's engraved so they know I didn't pinch it!

Although I am thinking it's high time I just gave up training altogether in favour of more age appropriate things.

Chest today, last of the higher rep workoutd!!

Inc fly

7.5k, 15k, 32.5k, 40k/15 reps each

50k/9

Smith mach incline

40k, 60k, 80k, 100k, 120k/ 12 reps each

140k/ 10

100k/ 15 (chest pumped from this)

Flat bb press

40k, 60k, 100k, 100k, 100k/ 10 reps each

Cable crossover 5 sets of 12-15

Round the world flyes 3 sets 7.5k didn't count reps just focussed on stretch

Dips bw only 2 sets of 12-15

Light biceps and triceps.

Right from next week back to trying to bump my numbers up, joints feel good for an old man like me lol

Legs today, did my workout quick, nearly hurled!!

4 sets of one leg toe presses on calf machine 12-15 reps

Calves on hack squat superset with hack squats. Made hacks my primary quad exercise today so went heavyish for me. Oh I'll just put plates per side.

1pl, 2pl, 2pl, 3pl, 4pl, 5pl/ 12 reps each

6pl/ 8 reps

Straight leg deads

Bar, 60k, 100k, 140k/ 12 reps each

160k/ 8

Bb squats super with seated calves (did just 20k for calves)

Bar, 60k, 100k, 140k/ 10 reps each

That was it, lame I know but it killed me. Start to finish in about 50 minutes, whole leg pumped.

Shoulders, triceps and abs this morning at 6am...

Highrope pulls 5 sets of 12

bent laterals 4 sets up to 25k/10

Hammer strength shoulder press (plates per side)

1pl, 2pl, 3pl, 4pl/10 reps each

4.5pl, 4.5pl/ 8 reps each

cable laterals 3 sets of 10-12

Smith machine military press (plates per side)

1pl, 2pl, 2.5pl/8 reps each

3pl/4 drop set 2pl/5

Db laterals 4 sets up to 27.5k/8

Tricep kickbacks for Nate, both arms at once 3 sets of 12 up to 12.5 kilos

Superset over head cable extensions with regular pushdowns 3 sets of 12 each

Abs 3 sets of leg raises followed by 3 sets of rope crunches.. thought I better cover my bases and actually train abs this time around!

I trained morning for years and I don't mind it actually... not many people rock up to the gym at 6am to muck around so it's a good time to train. Mostly now though I train about 1 in the arvo, I prefer to train after a couple of meals. Lucky it was only shoulders and I always go ok on shoulders. Bugger doing legs or back after a coffee and an apple though lol

Back today, just back.

Deadlifts

60k, 100k, 140k, 180k/6

220k, 240k, 260k/3 (straps from 180 and belt on at 220)

Was only going to do 240 but it went up pretty easy so thought I'd try 260. Pretty happy with that.

Chin ups

Bw/8, +5k/8, +5k/5, bw/7 yes I realise my chinning is shithouse but in my defence I am currently 116k and always been weak as piss for back.

Straight arm pulldowns for 4 sets of 12.

Bb rows

Bar, 60k, 100k, 140k/ 8 reps each

160k/ 5

Hammer rows alternating arms (plates per side)

1pl, 2pl, 3.5pl, 5pl / 6 reps each

Done!! Great back pump.

Thank you. I guess it's relative, I read what other people on here do and it motivates me. I always want more as we all do!

And yeah PD I have always been weak on back in relation to pressing exercises. But I battle along and my back is improving. Bw percentage lifting most of you "lighter" guys kick my ass. And I get tired reading MGs training, that's my cardio right there, just reading lol

Awesome deads! Hey Harry you used to powerlift back in the day right?? What were your best lifts and what weight classes did you compete in if you don't mind me asking.

I competed just under a 100 kilos the last time and I did some pretty lame lifting. From memory and it was a long long time ago I did something like a 260 dead, a 215 bench and a 260 or maybe 270 squat? I was only 22 I think when I did my last one. Oh and no suits or bench shirt, just knee wraps and a belt. My best bench back then was 227.5. I didn't use to do deadlifts as part of my training back then I would just sumo deadlift on the day and muscle it up I suppose. I didn't really care about powerlifting I just did it cos I could. I came up when the Pomana brothers were kicking everyones ass and I thought I better stick to bodybuilding lol

I have done ok stuff in the gym but when you take into account bw and all the other factors (drugs) etc etc etc I am not the strongest guy by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks bro.. actually just going to make a nother push to get my strength a bit higher. Had a break for a few weeks from hitting the heavies every week to give my connective tissue a break but bored with that now lol

SG I have no idea what my 1rms would be. I might do a month of heavies and have a crack though.

Rimma, it just didn't really interest me, PLing I mean. I didn't think of myself as particularly astrong, I trained with guys who were stronger than me so what I did didn't seem like much. Plus I didn't want to change my form just to lift more weight. I wouldn't mind maybe doing something small for a challenge but being competitive it wouldn't be just for fun for long lol

Did chest today.

Bench

Bar, 40k, 60k, 80k, 100k, 140k/ 6 reps each (just warm ups really)

180k/ 4 drop set 140k/ 4 drop set 100k/ 8 (nice and slow on negatives to feel stretch then trying to explode up, felt good)

Inc fly superser with inc db press (used same weight for both)

15k, 22.5k, 30k/ 8 reps of each fly and press

40k, 45k/ 6 reps of each fly and press

Hard work but chest very pumped and sore.

Inc bb press

60k, 80k, 100k, 120k/ 6 reps each

Cable crossover 3 sets of 10-12 heavier each set

Hammer strength one arm preacher curls

4 sets of 8-12 up to 35k/8

EZ bar curls bar, 30k, 40k, 50k, 60k/ 8 reps each

Reverse cable curls 3 sets of 12-15

Good workout today, bw 116. Feeling good, it's coming together!
