Pseudonym
Welcome, White_Gold - you've come to the right place. Good on you for deciding to get into shape. Realistically, how far off your goal shape are you? Before we can help you, we'll need to know a bit more about your training and diet at the moment. When you say you're "totally new" - do you have a gym membership yet?

White_Gold
Hey Thanks all, I'm glad I found the site:)I am quite far off my goal at the moment due to putting on quite a bit of body fat since xmas. I am having alot of trouble moving in the right direction, any hints and help would be much appreciated.I am 5 foot 4 and weigh far too much. I would like to shift 10kgs of body and then shape and sculpt my body. Im not sure if this is the way to do it but I am fantastic at low carb diets as last year i lost an amazing 20kgs and now i have let myself down. Pseudonym
First of all, let me say I'm no expert.I'd be careful with cutting back the carbs too drastically. Certainly, you will lose weight, but it's generally not sustainable long-term unless you're willing to eat lettuce the rest of your life! The key is to finding a balance between a diet that's loose enough that it's easy to keep, and one that still keeps you nice and lean. The yoyo-ing effect as you go on and off strict diets doesn't help matters either. Feel free to ignore the sermon if it doesn't apply to you - it just seems to be very common in dieters, especially women, to eat too little. You'll need both a good diet and a good training routine in order to reach your goal, but let's just focus on diet for now... Can you post up what you currently eat in an average day? White_Gold
Hey, fully agree on the yoyo dieting thing. It seems to be a craze in my life - more often that not. There needs to be a balance I guess, its just hard knowing what that balance is. At the moment my meals are totally out of WHACK! for example breakfast I will eat a scone, lunch will be something semi healthy with some vege or salad and dinner sometimes takeaways, I am being totally honest here as ther is no point lying as it gets ya no where. So from here I would like to change this pattern. Can you help??
Pseudonym
We can certainly try! (And sorry it took so long to get back to you)First of all, the key is to eat lots of small meals each day. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper is good. If you want a brief overview of why/how this works better than a few large meals, it explained here.Let's start with breakfast. Why are you having scones? Is it just that they're quick and convenient, and make rushed mornings easier? The trouble is, they can be quite high in fat, and there's not usually much protein. I'd suggest something like porridge or muesli (unsweetened, if possible), then stirring in a scoop of protein powder. Would that fit your morning routine?
