well yday i did the auckland powerlifting associations novice comp held at the ymca in mt albert, this was my first Powerlifting competition and i had a blast, there were alot of lifters and i got ther just in time to weigh in.

i did all my lifts fully raw, no belt, wraps, suits just chalk.

first up was squat, i did 180 for my 1st attempt easy, 2nd attempt 200 pretty easy too, 3rd attempt 220 lol fucked that up hit depth then would budge. 200kg squat

bench press, i did 160 for 1st attempt came up a breeze, 2nd attempt 180.. i was so amped about the lift that i put my grips on different rings hahaha so when i began to lower it, it felt like 140 on one side of the bar and 40kg on the other side... was gonna rip my shoulder off so called it off and was racked up. 3rd attempt i attempted 180 again.. it felt good when i had it deracked and locked out on the 2nd attempt so was confident and got myself fired up that i deracked it in lock out and started the decent before the judge called start... carried on the lift and f*ck it was a battle but completed it in the end. if anyone got that video id love to see it.. and hear the yell haha. 160 bench

deadlift 1st attempt 220.. easy, 2nd 240... easy 3rd attempt i knew i could get 250 but thought i would try and get a personal record at 260 so attempted it... came off the floor so easy and with lots of power maybe too fast lol coz i lost balance and bar came out from close to my body causing it to just drop.

i found i had lotsa of adrenaline and this worked well... but also maybe worked against me as i should have calmed down abit and relaxed abit and i prob woulda got the bench (technicality) and the dead dunno what happened there lol.

anyways i had an awesome time, was good seeing viking power again who gave up his day to spot and load, met steak, bar belle, bob26, redmachine, human performance.. all top people. so id just like to take this opportunity to say im sorry to steak and his family if ever i was a smart prick or an idiot to them on this forum in past i relaise yday that they give up alot of their time and money for the sport of powerlifting and have helped alot of people from their gym and have an awesome family of supportive people at coast barbell.

Got all or most of your lifts on vid so will edit over the next few days and get it you. The 180 bench was a good lift other than the tech side of things...your strong point for sure  . Id like to show you a decent set up one day as Im sure that would add kgs instantly.

Should be a force to reckon with on the strongman scene this year. Should hook up with VP, get some donuts and come do some Hells Driveway some time

This just in from the NZPF

"NOVICE LIFTERS: The NZPF have changed the rules this year in regards to novice lifters, you can only lift in one novice competition before you have to register with NZ Powerlifting and Auckland Association and be on the drug testing program. You can still lift in novice events once you have registered"
