can someone please tell me how a PL comp is run? do u get 3 attempts at everylift? if u complete the lift then u can have another go at ur next heavier weight, but cant go backward in weight obviously.

so example deadlift:

1st 100kg

2nd 120kg

3rd 140kg

if u fucked up the 2nd attempt (120kg) then is that it like SM max log? as in you cant attempt the 3rd

Tom.. you get 3 attempts at each lift. If you miss lift 1 then you have 2 more attempts at a. the same weight. b. if not told, the table (Refs) will put it up automatically 2.5kg or c. you can opt to go heavier still.

There is no going backward in weight.

The head ref will normally give the lifters a brief prior to lifting as to how he would like things to run but here is afew things you may want to consider...

Wear plain clothes. No big flashy logos are normally accepted. Keep shorts to mid thigh length too.

You are only allowed to wear shorts, and tee shirt if lifting raw along with shoes and socks......or the approved PL costume/singlet etc

Tee shirts must be round neck not Vee, not zips, pockets or buttons. Denim is not acceptable. Sleeves must terminate above the elbow but you cant wear shoulder cut-off sleeves sorry tough guy :lol:

Long socks are required for the deadlift.

Shoes should be flat soles or proper lifting shoes. Deadlift slippers are allowed for the deadlift.

Underpants have to be briefs not boxers or boxer type garments. Leave your sparkley thong at home too :lol:

Belt - only a nonpadded PL belt with a max width of 10cm and 13mm thickness can be used.

Wrist warps - under 1m in length and less than 8cm wide

Knee warps - under 2m in length and 8cm wide.

You can wear medical tape (2 layers only) on the thumbs.

Torn or unclean items will be rejected.

No oil, grease or lubricant is allowed on the body. You can use chalk and talc though.

Thats about the basics...the rest is putting it together on the platform in a professional manner. Cursing, swearing etc is not looked upon favourable and will normally get you a warning. I can possibly help you out on the day if you want as most of our lifters will be lifting early in the session or in the first group :wink:

yea Rugby socks or the 2 dolla fiddys from the Warewhare, and no you cant squat or dead in the Bare feet, prob best bet is to compete in chuck taylors (flat sole good for the squat and dead)

as i wont be lifting if you want i can help run your attempt cards etc as ill prob be helping out the CBC crew aswell

No you will need shoes or boots - the underside must be flat

Yip...Im sure they would be fine at a novice . The wharehouse has "Active" hockey socks for $2-$5 pair if needed

sorry T..Your going to have to leave your little black dress at home :lol: They are mostly concerned about big flashy logos and big text. The small logos are fine...eg Nike, Adidas or your favourite TandT :lol: are ok on the front but you wouldnt be allowed to wear your Hannah Montana tee.

why no logos? coz hannah montanna's tits stick up 1mm so ur bench isnt going all the way down?

LOL at Hannah's titties not bad.... now logo's its all politics and money mate, sponsors pay big money to have there logo's on the platform hence why you can't wear other logo's just a plain T and a pair off plain shorts chuck shoes or sneakers what ever you got rugby socks or cheap socks from warehouse... good to roll....

i have no one to hold the iphone and film... soon ok.

if your keen to test out your one rep max in the big three i live about 5 minutes from body bussiness ill come in for a casual and ill see what i can do to and you can film it give me a weeks notice mint!

weighed just now and down to 103kg so thats good i wanted to be under 105 for this strongman comp on saturday so im not a heavyweight and think Nate is doing it so i would like to try beat him that would be my goal, though i have not done any of these events apart from one of them. COME OOONNNNN!!! lol was 106.8 2 weeks ago which was alot of water but havnt trained and eaten much the last two weeks just been really busy and bit stressed with court and shit but all sorted now (traffic offences... not roid rage) lol. had a trainign today and strength just the same without the extra 4 kg bloat weather thall come back or not hmm time will tell...

did upper back today and a few hammer curls at the end, gym was fucking hot trained at about 1pm but not by choice. wokout was good.. nothing special to report.

want to knw where to get these sniffing salts you inhale b4 u hit the platform everyone says they are very good to get u rarked and in the zone! where do i buy them and what kind?

Ring around chemists would be the easiest way at short notice...smelling salts.

I'll be coming up & may even do a few events on Saturday (depends what time I arrive) but am really only heading up for the invitational comp on Sun. Yesterday was the first day in a month I could even walk properly without pain so I'd be an easy beat for you at the moment Tom! :nod: Managed my first leg training in a month (light extns & leg curls) so thats positive!

Will be good to catch up though, you could decide whether to do NZSM or HBSM comp which will be on the same weekend......EASY MONEY! :nod:

MacKenzies Smelling Salts and yeah ring around the chemists, not many stock them so may have to order in....

Thats the one Jess,

The ammonia snap capsules are better but are items you need to order through EliteFTS etc well in advance.

weight for height... got these kettlebells in my gym i been swinging them thru my legs and up practising as if i was gonna let it rip thru the ceiling lol... been tempted but would smash sumthing for sure oir break kettlebell when it hits ground.

nate, do u swing it between ur legs a few times or do u go thru legs around outside of leg then back thru... i have seen different ways on youtube... personal pref?
