so umm this will be a serious journal, no quotes of day and no tips just hardcore training!!!

have decided to do the PL comp just to build a good base for future bodybuilding comps and also if i wanna win mr new zealand i have to get to under 65kg apparently... so everyone keeps telling me... LOL!

so i am going for a raw total of 750 by november 2011

goals would be a 300 dead, 250 squat and a 200 bench to make up the 750kg total.

all my current lifts have really poor technique you would probably all say but like ther video i out on facebook of my deadlifts lol!!!

anyway i know there is sum real knowlegable guys on here when it comes to PL.

So what should i do for my first training??

cheers VP and OB, so what the best way to train for this mon squat, wed bench, fri dead? then the other days train the assistiung muscles individually.. like the lats, tris and delts for bench on say a saturday? and on the other days other muscles for the squats and deads?

or is that a shit way to do it? or a really advanced way?

i have not much clue about this.

That way will work good mate or the bloody sheiko program I gave you LOL

but threes day a week Squat mon, Bench wed, deadlift fri, is good the rest is up to you for assistance work as stated its assistance work (watch some dave Tates Videos or westside barbell on you tube mate) you might get away with 5 or 6 days training per week me 4 or 5 at the most i'm old good luck

Arghhhh we've lost another one to powerlifting! Jokes

Good goals man. 750 in the under 110s or go all out and sit in the under 125s? Either way that is a mean total!

What are your lifts to comp standard at the mo?

And hate to point out the bleeding obvious, if you want to progress any further than Gym comps and do NZPF comps you will be tested. I would have thought the BBro was tested to?

Hey SG 8)

Weight classes are changing next year mate 93 - 105kg and then over 105kg - 120kg then just the big boys, novice don't get check for testing as they are not sign up to NZPF but in saying that it could change at some stage, but not as yet and your'e allow to do 3 novice comps before having to join up this could also change but hasn't yet.

anyway enough from me lets see some weights entered

SG im 103 at moment, dont think ill be able to get those totals being under 105 but i dunno.. i wanna use this to put on muscle as well as getting stronger not try and get stronger while preserving weight just to make a weight class. so ill just go hard. really just wanna get that total raw for myself at wateva weight i step on the platform at is irrelevant to me. alkso i would never do a coomp if i was gonna get tested i have asked about this as had confirmed that novice wont be tested. if this changes ill change my comp. i dnt wanna positve test to my name and its no good for the nzpf, thats selfish.

VP i will try the split i just put up.

as far as reps are concerned...

do i alternate the weeks with 2-5 rep weeks and the other week with a 5-8 rep week.

or do i pyrimid my reps, weight and sets?

awesome brah, will see you there.

as for plifting training, sheiko will be your friend, but until you are 100% comfortable with your form (p.lift form) dont jump onto it.

wendlers 531 is a great all round programme imo, for you to get to grips with plifting form and still not too far off what your proposing. then once youve made the form adjustments, some hi-vol sheiko will be ideal.

spend some time on the sheiko forum, and the powerhouse forum - will be the best time you spend. P.M me if you want clarification.

ps - what you runnin? :pfft:

pss - i know 5 5ths of f*ck all

Good on you bro. get your form sussed before doing sheiko. Watch the form clips from elitefts theyll be a good starting point. For training I think that some basic periodisation will be a good start.

Ed coans off season squat percentages used for all the lifts will give you a good base. You choose a weight that you think youll be able to do at the end of 10weeks then just work backwards. http://www.powerpage.net/coansquat.html

Youll do well. hopefully see you then.

Good shit bro, joined the darkside- mean!

Always good to see strong guys coming into the sport, what its all about IMO. You know who to talk to in terms of PLing training, he`ll point you in the right direction.

Your goals are good too bro, a mean total to have at your weight, raw esp. Should be a good crossover when you get back to BBing training. Just find something that works, you like/enjoy and assess it when it starts to plateau.

2sets wide, 2 sets close hammer grip

1 arm db row

4 sets 10,10,8,8

straight bar bicept curl

3 sets 10,10,10

db hammer curl

3 sets 10,10,10

2nd day back in gym after 2 weeks off.. felt good.

so my training will be like this iv decided

sun: back/biceps

mon: squats/legpress

tues: bench

wed: deadlifts

thurs: traps/calves/abs

fri: squats/other leg stuff

sat: shoulders/triceps

1 week will be in the 5-10 rep range for the squats, bench, dead and next will be in the 1-5 rep range i will train like this for 8 weeks and assess progress after that. the other bodyparts will be trained in the 6-12 rep range i havent trained with low reps sorta 6 and under before so am really looking forward to seeing what happens there.

cheers for yr guys advice, i will more than likly us the sheiko or the other ones mentioned either after these 8 weeks or later in year.
