Training & BJJ

If I may throw my word in with the experts here...With what you've been discussing the last few posts one thing jumped out at me, no mention of direct upper back work. I release that it's probably included in the broadness of assistance exercises, but figured I'd just throw a reminder out there.

Best of luck with your experiment Nate, should be very interesting and hope to see it benefit your other interests.

None of us are experts bro! Just warriors. :)

By upper back work I take it you mean lats and traps? I am a big fan of training back on a separate day. In the case of two days per week I think that movements such as t-bar rows, bent over rows, upright rows are the movements Nate should include in his upper back training. I also like to do a pulldown movement. Face pulls are another favourite for the upper back and rear delts. With a single day for the upper body it will come down to prioritising.

The thing I wanted to say previously but forgot was...

Big ups to Nate for putting his family first and having the courage to say it out loud. It's about compromise for the greater good I guess. Having met Janine a couple of times I can imagine that she is very supportive of you having your own life. This seems like a pretty fair way to have this while putting the family at the top.

I suppose this hits a bit of a chord for me as sometimes I get a bit carried away with myself and forget that "the most important things, is the the most important thing". I hope that this makes sense.

Kia kaha bro.

Post of the month!

Have scheduled the two weights sessions for a.m. before work, I know Smitty & the lads love this time of day but I struggle! But does free up time for the whanau.

With Nene competing in equestrian, the kids doing BJJ, and everything else thats going on in the Christmas rush it will be nice to have more time. Kind of owe others a bit of time at the mo' given the last few years SM, the years before that PLing, the years before that BBing, you get the picture!

Did the first session yesterday - was good fun, will keep a journal as soon as I get a chance.

Nate

PS - big ups to Doc for his constructive advice on the programme. I was kind of in a mindset of seeing what size & strength I could keep, whereas he said "I reckon with the extra recovery time you might surprise yourself". I now look forward to being stronger with a better composition, and one hell of a better grappler!
