Hi all.

Well, where do I start.

I'm a 36 yr old female, 173 cm tall, currently weighing 79.6kg. gulp.

I have begun by really concentrating on my diet, and cardio. Have lost 2kg so far.

My first question is that if I am planning on getting a PT in Feb to help, should I start some weights now, or leave it til I get with a trainer.

I am moving back to my home town in Feb, where I live at present is a very small rural town, no PT's here.

We have a small community run gym, that runs group fitness as well as having cardio/weight equipment. I could start with group weights sessions, which I may have some difficulty in getting to, although could manage twice a week (it is the body pump style, low weight high rep sort of stuff). Or should I start by getting a program from somewhere and getting to the gym more often, doing the splits that I read about you all doing, doing the higher weight lower reps.

Or a mixture - getting to the class when I can & replicating the class at another time by myself? And if I'm doing the total body what is the best time fram between each session - 48 hrs?

Cheers for any advice.

Having a PT that has competed or trained competitors would be an advantage, saves u having to make same mistakes others have made.

Until you move back in Feb get a copy of "The Body for life" program that will give you a good grounding and programs to work with.

Also read the forums on here, there is a thread on body building basics

good luck, its addictive!

Welcome :)

I'm with Grover - Body for Life's a great starting point, and if you can find a copy now, it'll help inspire you to start, to stick with it and eventually join the others up on stage.

Even if you never compete, you'll get a lot out of the journey you just started!
