There's no stopping you, EU! Congrats!

Gidday, Ash - how's it going? I was thinking just the other day we hadn't seen you for a while. Have you been AWOL, or just laying low?

Both - I've been so busy at work, the last thing I've wanted to do is log onto a PC when I get home :( Training is going better though - will hopefully get back to my journal soon.

As you know, Ive been having major problems with the tendents above both kness that has been effecting my abbility to train & squat properly.

This has been effecting me for the past 4 Months. I think im finaly getting on top of it with keeping the squating down and more recently taking pain killers to reduce the pain and inflimation. Not the ideal situation leading up to the NATS. But I suppose at age 36 Ive got to expect a few niggles!! Dam it all

Have been doing lots of rehab work and streatching and its finaly (cross fingers) starting to pay dividends.

Will bring my front squats up to 140 3x3 and and backs up to 160 3x3 this week and then increase 5kg a week leading up to the Nats to get my leg strength up to the required level.

Looks like your traing going well

Try doing some Snatch Hi Pulls of Blocks 10kg above what you want to Snatch at The Nats for the next 4 weeks as im sure these will help you speed and strength in your second pull

Thanks once again

Regards Juddy (shane)

Yes, I'll still be around checking the journals and see how you guys are going with your training.

Is the reason for shutting the journal down for a while, one based on not giving the cometition an idea of exactly where you are at ?

That's the primary reason why, because there's a FAT BOY ;) who is in my weight class, doing a little more than me at the moment and I don't want him to see what I'm up to. Just makes things a little more exciting.

See ya tomorrow V.

Hi Eu,

Was reasonably happy with result. Had a shit 3 days leading up to it.

Had to go to the dentist on Friday as I had an infection in a tooth that had been troubling me for a few days, They put me on some antibiotics that knocked me around a bit. Also my wifes grandmother passed away so we had the funeral on the friday aswell. On saturday morning of the comp I had to go back to the dentist to get the infection drained from my tooth as I was up most of the night in considerable pain. So I was on a cocktail of antibiotics and pain killers.

SNATCH

Started 110 easy. 2nd 117 easy 3rd 125 easy, had it locked in but lost it over the back. Broke existing NZ masters record of 105

C & J

Started 130 easy 2nd 141 easy 3rd 150 easy clean but missed the jerk.

Broke existing NZ masters record of 140.

We have some footage of the comp, so well get it linked up so you can view.

As we trained right up to the comp with no peaking I was reasonably happy with my performance. Im over my knee injuries now so once my squat power comes up I should be fine for the nats.

Your starting to sound like TC.

Congrats on the records, very strong. With 125, sounds like there might be more to come. Why did you start so low for C/Js? Bad warm-ups?

P.S. I saw an article of you in Herald about coaching a young man (I think I may have seen him lifting at North Island's but I'm bad with names). Is he coming up to compete in Secondary School's Nationals this saturday?

EU,

The objectives of the comp was to get our other lifters to qualify for the Nats. Its pretty hard coaching and lifting at the same time. Yes I could have started higher, but I was treating the comp as a training session.

The young boy I coach is David Starkey 62kg lifter and he will be competing at the school boys. Hes an awsome young man with a great attitude towards life and lifting. His goal id to beat Codey Cole and I think he will be knocking on his door come the Nats.

Yeah, he's doing very well. I noticed he did a 17kg PB on his last total and it looks like his bodyweight is moving up nicely. Should be interesting what Cody does this morning.

You said there was an article in the NZ Herald, do you know the date of that issue so I can locate.

I had a look (I'll check again) but wasn't able to find a date (it's a cut-out from the paper). Gary brought it in on Sat (2nd Sept) so I'll ask him about it.
