Faith Hill is hot. ;)

National Champs is this saturday (14th), should be a good competition. Leaving tomorrow afternoon with Jono to go to Invercargil.

Finished my training yesterday, so I have thursday and friday as rest days. Trying to lower my bodyweight down to under 94 now.

Came to the gym today to snap a few shots with my new camera.

Thanks man, we'll try and bring some videos back. I'm looking to the night in town afterwards, that is if Invercargil has something to offer.

Camera is Sony Cybershot S600, 6 megapixels/3 optical zoom, can take movies with sound. Goes for around 300-400, depending where you look.

is this the gym where u train?

Yup.

UPDATE: NZ NATIONAL CHAMPS (October 14th)

Had to come down from ~97kg down to under 94 within a 4 day time frame. Weighed in at 93.38kg on the day, felt good both mentally and physically after I had a meal. My main competitor weighed in 94 kg on the dot.

Overall, I would say that this was the closest competition I've ever had in my lifting career. I didn't come 1st in the Senior division, got a massive rush from competing this close with a friend of mine (Jono S.), so props to him for winning. Great experience I must say.

Snatch attempts:

- 117 (yes)

Jono put his snatch opener as 120kg and managed to get it. Then put his second attempt in - 125kg.

- 120 (yes)

- 123 (yes, Junior U20 record)

Jono missed his second attempt on 125. You could see him stressing out after that but the man managed to come through on his third attempt, which was rough but enough to satisfy the judges. He was now in the lead by 2kg.

Clean/Jerk attempts:

- 140 (yes, to secure the total/junior title)

Jono takes 145kg as a Clean/Jerk opener and suprizingly misses it! Pretty pissed off with himself, he re-takes the attempt and is successful.

- 147 (yes)

He now takes 150kg as his last attempt in Clean/Jerk, good clean but the jerk was rough. Enough for the judges to pass. I had to take 152kg to equal his total of 275 in order to win on bodyweight.

- 152 (no, cleaned but could not deliver the jerk, rushed it a little bit)

Anyway, I came 1st in Junior (U20) and 2nd in Senior divisions. Will post videos and pictures soon.

PBs:

- 123kg Snatch (junior record).

- Competition clean/jerk (147kg).

- Clean (152kg).

- 306 Sinclair.

Well done to all teams that have competed at Nationals!

great job

I noticed that you were wearing a rebook russian weightlifting suit during competition. I saw Alexy Petrov and Andrei Chermerkin wearing them sometime in the 90s. Where did you get it from? I don't think you can get them now ?

BTW how tall are you?

The suit was given to me by a good friend of mine when I started weightlifting at 56kg bodyweight. He said if you do a certain total, it's yours. He got it off a Russian lifter, I'll have to ask him for a name if I see him around. Not sure if you can get it now though.

I'm about 178cm (~100kg bodyweight), so my guess is 5'9" or 5'10"?

That's 5'10" exactly. I ususally work on metric system.

I think you can do quite well in 94kg class. I personally would wait for another year or two to move up to 105. Szymon Kolecki ( Jr/Sr CJ record holder 94kg). is more than 6'1 / 186 i think.

I guess it depends on metabolism and body composition. If you can stay at a lean 98 kg during off season, I think you can still compete in 94kg class.
