Hamstrings..

Theres more to hamstrings than just ham curls! hammies function in hip extension and knee flexion doesnt make sense to train only one movement pattern. Box squats, sldl, goodmornings, glute ham raise, standing leg curls all good ideas. Think outside the lying leg curl box :pfft:

Well said TT, was gonna say the same thing.. Train the post chain. as opposed to looking at one movement/function of the muscle. Reverse hacks are also good imo

Whats the best exercise for making them grow... fast! :idea2:

I think it's about balanced led development. That probably best results from deep, high bar squats. Lots of sets and reps. There are plenty of specific hamstring movements that will hit the hamstrings more directly but these won't give you that balanced leg development. Obviously you need to do this work as well.

Interesting to look at some of the best legs in NZ. Steve Orton has a sprinting background. IMO he some of the best hams and glutes in this part of the world. I know that Steve also does lots of squats.

Short answer is that there is no fast way to develop good hams. No magic bullet.

you fellas, you need to make sure your utilising the hamstring compensation curve......

:lol::lol::lol: Funny shit, yeah compensation curve with no valid reference

Thats why your massive aye!

Haha I take it you're big/strong/ripped then  I never said I was massive, just laugh when people over complicate things when hard/smart training+eating+sleeping= results. Talking about theories does not get you huge.

I like Romanian dead lifts to be honest, what do you fellas think of them?

Ive started doing them and like them.

They work the glute hammy tie-ins, so mainly the top part of the hammy, leg curls will work down behind the knee more, the lower part of the hammy.

You need to mix it up obviously but do at least one exercise that keeps the leg fairly straight, good morning, straight legged deads, romainian deads, and one exercise that involves the knee, lying curls, standing curls etc.

The general advice seems to be that you dont need to go real heavy with romainian deads, or really low.

Enough is enough girls. Let's get these threads back on track. I'm pretty sure we all have something to offer. Don't think we need to act like a bunch of wankers who are too cool for school. Just a thought...

Great call Doc - you got my vote for voluntary Moderator of the month!

GHR & Poorman GHR are my assistance of choice. Squat / Deadlift (and variants off) seem to sort the rest.

I don't want to spoil anyones fun. But this forum has potential to be a bit better than a wanker zone.

Yup! I like the ESB ethos of "no wankers".
