Hi All

Ive been a member here for a little while now and have found this site to be quite informative and entertaining (People arent scared to say what they think LoL).

Thought it was about time that I introduced myself and started posting.

Im resonably new to the whole gym/BB scene and have only been lifting seriously for about a year. However there is no better time for me then when Im in the gym lifting as heavy as I can.

I hope I can be a contributor around here in any capacity possible. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and helping where I can........

STATS

WEIGHT: 102kg

Hey,

Many thanks for the welcomes,

Do you have any specific goals in mind?

Well Phedder Im in a constant battle with myself over that one I dunno if I wanna strip back some fat for summer or get bigger or gain strength half the time. But for now my training partner and myself are training with more volume then usual to try and get some size on, while keeping the diet pretty clean as to not fatten up too much.

Just curious why your bench is massive but your deadlift is (proportionately) small? Back issues or something?

Your right there rimma. pretty pathetic deads LoL, but yeah I have had a couple of back issues in the past and have been a little reluctant to really push myself. Hopefully this year that will all change

Have to say it is very refreshing to hear so many different opinions and its great to see people expressing them no matter what they are LoL

Hi Daperdon!

I think a lot of people get carried away with confusing weight gain with quality muscle gain. In my opinion there is no point in putting on 10kg of fat to increase your bench 10kg. Studies have proven that you can make your optimal muscle gains in the 12-15% bf range. So my advise to you would be to continue cutting through to summer, hopefully peaking around 10-12% and then go on a lean bulk where you are only consuming around 300-500 calories above maintenance.

No point training as hard as you do if you can't show it off every now and again too aye :pfft:

Hey Sounds good...

Agreed, I'm not real keen on the whole round mound of pound thing aye. Like you said gotta be able to show off a little hahahaha.

I seem to be making progress in my lean mass by eating pretty clean and just lifting my reps and sets a bit (more volume). Until I plateau that's gonna be my main mode of attack.

Hey man welcome to the site!

Just curious why your bench is massive but your deadlift is (proportionately) small? Back issues or something?

could it be something to do with his height maybe as he is well over 6' tall that could be a culprit for the weaker dead maybe??(I am of the school that using height is just an excuse but maybe it plays a part??)

good luck with your goals bro will watch on and comment where I see fit

Generally speaking you would expect the opposite TT

Taller guys have an advantage deadlifting but since their ROM is greater than shorter guys their bench and squats are weaker

I would say DaperDon just needs to work on his technique and his deads will fly up

I thought the less the ROM the better???

is it the longer arms mean they stand more upright with a straight back before starting the lift??

I agree SG technique and simply time on the mat

Yeah, sometimes difficult to balance the two....

1. Not nice to have love handles

2. not nice to have your favorite T-shirt suddenly sit loose around you arms

Look at Steak and Big Johns deads though, HUGE! I think the height helps give more leverage for the deadlift. Merely my observation, maybe someone who's studied the biomechanics of the lift in detail could chime in?

Fair point! Now I'm not so sure haha. Think we can agree TheDaperDon has a lot more potential in him though, sort his technique out and his deadlifts should fly up. Not sure what technique that would be though, still trying to figure mine out myself :pfft:

I usually do just that, but there's always room for improvement and if playing with my technique a bit can get an extra 5-10kg on the bar or make me feel more comfortable/solid during the movement then it's worth it. I'm still relatively new to deadlifting so i'm keen to find what works best for me. Currently haven't really found anything that works better than just getting in there, sitting back and ripping it, but I'm sure you understand that if you just told anyone to 'pick up the fucken weight' quite a few people would end up injuring themselves.

great post phedd this is something I thinkto myself daily and also Im sure there are serious kgs to be added by using a bit more technique or even by using "some" legs instead of all round backs.....preaching to the deaf on that topic so that is all from me lol
