Went to the Osteopath today - he said that my shoulder is very damaged, used lots of big words, all I could really understand is that my bicep tendon is damaged, the thing that my bicep tender is connected to is damaged and then my AC joint is also damaged! My muscles are all tensed up trying to protect what ever has happened to my shoulder - so I am off to get a x-ray and ultrasound on Tuesday then back off to Osteopath on Thursday. It has improved since it only hurts when it's pressed on now so back to training on Monday!!

You should try and do some light shoulder recovery work over the weekend.

No geared lifting 1st week aye?

Yes gear lifting on Monday - 22 days till 3rd March comp so that's how long I have to groove my suit. No time to muck around, I've done enough of that the past 2 weeks.

I have had some issues similar to that and it's pretty common, not to be messed with..

When you say not to be messed with do you mean to work through it and not worry about it? Or to work it out before you start training again?

im going to say the latter. rehab/prehab/rehab some more

i jumped on this after i did my right shoulder at hbsm last year. bunged it up pretty badand the range of movement was pittiful for afew months till i tried some of the rehab drills to strengthen up the surrounding area of the rotators

just my 2c thou dude im no expect on the subject but it did help tremendously for my shoulder flexibilty

So started my program leading me up to Auckland Champs.. Still dealing with the shoulder issue, but have decided to try a trial and error so of thing..

Day 1, Week 1

Squat:

1 x 3 x 45kgs

1 x 3 x 55kgs

wraps

1 x 2 x 65kgs

1 x 2 x 75kgs

suit

3 x 3 x 95kgs

2 x 3 x 105kgs

2 x 3 x 110kgs

Goodmornings: 5 x 5 x 30kgs

Romanian Deadlifts: 3 x 8 x 40kgs

Standing Calf Raises: 5 x 15 x 40kgs

Hanging Leg Raises: 5 x 15

Session felt good today, shoulder didn't give me any grief so can't complain - have to go get a x-ray and ultrasound tomorrow so hope nothing comes up.. Squats felt strong but can be stronger. The next 7 weeks are going to very interesting and my legs/arms and stomach are going to be COVERED in welts :) Bring it on!!

  • 2 weeks later...

So it's been 2 weeks since I started training again after my shoulder injury. Lifts are feeling strong, just have to remember to warm up well. My eating is sorted and I'm training hard so it's all on. 10 days until the Auckland Novice, feeling abit nervous, been practising my openers and are getting more and more confident. It's been a total of 3 training sessions in my new suit and shirt, 1 more time in them before the Novice then 3 more weeks of training till Auckland Champs. Definitely getting nervous but bodyweight's sitting at the point I want it and can't complain about my training since I'm doing well and have only been back for 3 and a bit months, not to mention I took last year off and had a baby 3 and 1/2 months ago :) I got told 2 weeks ago (after having a month off due to injury) that I would need a miracle to be able to compete in my gear so quickly - so obviously I have an angel watching over me :) Used 3 different bench shirts tonight and still don't know which one to stick with.. Over the next 16-17 weeks I will have my head down, training hard

Novice Results:

Squat:

1 x 1 x 85kg

1 x 1 x 95kg

1 x 1 x 100kg!

Not a PB overall on my squat but it is a PB squat for competition :) Definitely more left in me, saving it for Auckland Champs in 28 days!!

Bench:

1 x 1 x 47.5kg

1 x 1 x 52.5kg

1 x 1 x 55kg (Missed as I wasn't prepared for the 2 & 1/2 second pause which was fault on my part)

Didn't get any PB's on my bench but and happy with 52.5kg as it is the biggest bench I have done in competition. My bench was a bit slack today, due to a few things - my shoulder isn't completely healed and the bench was completely different to what I am used to. But overall good first benching post baby.

Deadlift:

1 x 1 x 122.5kg

1 x 1 x 132.5kg PB!!

1 x 1 x 137.5kg PB!!!

Deadlift was really good, got a 7.5kg gain on it, nice and easy!

Was a really good day overall. Gained 4kg on my total which takes it up to 290kg. Decided to do this competition raw as the equipment wasn't treating my shoulder nicely. Considering I had 3 weeks training prior to this comp which was all planned on me intending to do it equipped and had a month off before that. Auckland Champs in 28 days and cannot wait!! Very good work today from the team and supporters!

Wow, great to hear :notworthy: especially that gain in the deadlift - and all raw too

Going to be watching for the Auckland Champs with interest!

Well done!

Thank you, yeah I am very pleased with my deadlift especially because it was my weakest lift, I think it's swapped places with my bench now :)

Auckland Champs is going to be very interesting :)

Yeah I kinda shocked myself to be honest, wanted to go for the 140kg but didn't want another missed lift - wasn't very confident after my bench! Auckland Champs will be a good day all round!!
