Completely agree with you doc bodybuilding is about being massive.

In the gyms iv'e been training at i have seen quite a few guys that have competed recently and for the most part i wanted to ask them if they were competing in figure class lmao!

It's a tough one. I know how hard they all work and the sacrifices they make. But it's got to about more than just starving yourself and getting on stage. PTs have a vested interest in getting clients to do a twelve week challenge and then talking them into doing a show. IMO, not good for bodybuilding and not good for the PT industry.

Good point, well made. I must say that bodybuilding for me is about size. I love seeing the big dudes with freaky mass. I get less inspired by the little guys who don't carry alot of muscle but have worked really hard on not eating for 12-20 weeks. I'm not talking about Hibbs who is a class act in the sub 70kg class.

Thats why its called bodybuilding the bigger the better.

I want to see fucken freaks both men and women.

bikini class and classic class will have no place in my federation when I start it up...... :pfft:

The only thing freaky would be you showing up at the gym!

Gyms are for pussies! Ive moved on to lifting cars.

Pose to your strengths - thats how the little guys do well. If you a 5 foot tall making big sharp transitions can sometimes detract from your physique even during the compulseries. If your smaller, making more refined and smoother transitions can emphasis the eleganse and proportion of your physique. Frank Zane was very good at this.

Not really just can't get my head around the wanabes who have never competed but love taking a shot at anybody who has and isn't the size of a tank. This topic always comes up here from time to time and the athletic guys always get slated. I've seen it plenty of times over the years guys walking around the gym at 120kg with 20-30%BF thinking they are bodybuilders, yet pound for pound they are getting out lifted and beaten by us small guys :pfft:

Not getting pissy just think that because your not 100kg on stage doesn't mean your not a bodybuilder. Just means you can't afford the product to get to 100kg or your lifestyle (work) won't allow.

same could be said for smaller guys just cos you can see there abds and a few veins doesnt make them a bodybuilder. Anybody can starve themseves.

A lot of athletic guys look good but some look like they have starved themselves for 12 weeks and have never lifted a heavy weight in their life.

This is hardly the truth fella personally I'm throwing in 300g Protein and 150-200 Carbs a day at 80kg 10 days out from comp. Starving is the last thing most guys do unless they/their PT is uninformed and doing everything wrong. I do agree some of them do look like they have starved but the opposite can be the truth with Physique guys, seen plenty who jump on stage at 90kg but could stand to lose another 5-10kg to some descent condition.

This whole thing could go tick for tack for another 10 pages but the reality is Athletic guys (who are physique guys starting out) give Physique guys respect regardless of their size and condition so the same respect should be given back.

Theres abit of ingnorance in this thread.

Excuse my ignorance Tom, but I was wondering what "ingnorance" is?

Is it something to do with starved looking little guys strutting around a stage in speedos? Or fatboys wearing t-back singlets doing cable crossovers in the gym? :pfft:

This thread could go around in circles for weeks......

How so Tom?

well u dont have to be 100kg to be a bodybuilder. its even harder to be huge if you wanna be natural. for alot of guys its not their life, they got other things like families and jobs, training, eating well and ocasionally getting on stage in good condition is just a hobby. i dont have kids but id say when you got kids and a family, blowing thousands of dollars a year on supplements and gear to get huge for a plastic trophy would be pretty hard to jusitfy..

So you're saying Hibbs shouldn't turn around?
