Quick question peter-

Have you ever competed in p-lifting comps or are you just interested in bodybuilding?

Seems like you could show them how its done...2x BW bench, 3x BW deadlift?

Dunna if my bench would quite be 2xBW at the mo and my grip strength isn't good enough to pull my max deadlift otherwise I'd be keen to do it. I originally trained for strength when I started lifting with the intention of either PLing or Oly weight lifting

Oh yeah interesting, what caused the switch to bodybuilding then?

It is far more enjoyable and challenging than the other two

Plus a few other skinny guys in my town do it and really rated themselves so I thought I'd bring them down a peg :P

Haha MG! PLing and BBing are two completely diff sports and have their own challenges.. I did oly lifting when I was 13/14yrs, was ok but no real thrill you get from lifting heavy (PLing) and actually building decent size (BBing) well in saying that I wasnt lifting heavy at all at with my oly lifts.

Hence why Powerbuilding is the way to go, identity issues are gone since you get the best of both worlds.. just my 2 cents!

go checkout some of the nigerian oly lifters they will put alot of the bbers over here to shame

Like I said: Wasn't lifting heavy enough to get any size gains. That guy is lean and sure he has some size but compare him to guys like Stan Efferding and Ben White- Powerbuilders.

Sure if that oly lifter was in a wife beater or a t shirt you'd notice him but you can tell with PBers/Plers(except LW divs) and BBers they are huge even if they wear a hoody.

Just think that PLing, Oly lifting and BBing are so different you can't really compare them that much. The thing I like about PLing is there's no debate about condition or judges views (mass, condition, symmetry etc). You go there you lift end of story, you're strong or you're weak as tits- no in between

TT and Mrbig like I said in the other thread, the guys do have size, that comes with lifting big, but have holes in their physique

And rookie, please don't compare Ben White with Efferding ever again haha

And for the record, I'm not saying that Oly weight lifting isn't difficult (with out a doubt in my mind it is the most difficult sport to become any good at with the technique involved and they have the fastest muscle contraction of any athlete), nor am I saying the same about PLing

Haha I agree with you PD, oly lifters do have holes in their physiques- but lets not forget their aim is not to build their body like BBing.

LOL was not comparing the Rhino and Ben White- just said they are two examples of Powerbuilders (PLers/BBers).

Haha I know but Rhino finishes in the bottom 3 all the time cause he sucks, Ben's actually won a comp.

hmmmm I would have to say there is a bit especially when it comes to depth, touching to low and hitching! Oly lifters and powerlifters have alot more density and thickness to there physiques than bbers IMO and Id reason to say that the bulgarian I posted would be able to hang with them in squats and overheads even though he weighs alot less. And I would dare say he has a better physique than you, me or 95% of the people on this site

Nice training PD your one strong lil f*cker! 8)

The thickness and density part is debatable, it depends on the BBers training philosophies but also their conditioning on the day of comp (look at Justin, that guys is dry, grainy and hard in the off season) but I think your statement holds its share of truth.

Yeah, PLing can still be subjective depending on the judge and their experience. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad judge at the top level, those guys go through alot of years just to get to that level of officiating

Little levers baby haha \:D/

Haha yeah TT, Justin is strong as f*ck- most top bbers are.

Of course that guy does, never said he didn't. Would be awesome to look like that but would rather look be symmetrical. Its diff when you compare Bulgarian oly lifters etc but bet you'd be hard pressed to find an oly lifter in NZ who looked like that.

Glad we can still agree on one thing TT, and yes PD is a strong mofo!
