Obese??

I always wondered how someone would be declared obese or not... I sort of get the basic idea...

You weigh more than you're supposed to, in relation to your height, and you're overweight. No offence to jono, but his current form would be a good example.

But then you take a look at BIGKIWI who has like 4% bodyfat (i dunno if he actually is 4% bf... just made it up) yet he would weigh a lot [compared to his height] since muscle is heavier than fat. So would people like BIGKIWI or even Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler be overweight too?

How do you tell??

BMI tests do not apply to those who are heavy because of muscle weight. Bodyfat percentage is a more accurate way to tell whether or not someone is obese. I'd say if a man was over 20% they're overweight, and over 25% obese. BMI measurements only gives those who do not work out an accurate measurement. An easy way to tell if you're obese or not is your waist measurement in comparison to your total bodyweight.

Athletes are excluded from BMI test as it is inaccurate for them.

I think that Ronnie Coleman has a reading of around 40 for BMI.

I believe that between 16 and 20% for a man is healthy and 20 - 25% is overweight. Anything thats 25% + is considered obese.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
