Sleep

I'm 4 weeks out from my first comp and have been having major problems sleeping. I'm fine getting to sleep, but waking up at least twice in the night to go to the bathroom. I weight train after work, and knock back a fair bit of water. I have tried limiting my fluid intake post training and before bed, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm over being tired!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please! :)

Just one of those things you have to put up when you compete. :nod:

Mostly right, if you're low carb then water wont have much to hold on to so late night visits to the loo will happen, try adding a little sodium to your evening meals. Wont want to do this in your last few weeks though

Hi SS, unfortunately its part of the fun of competing.

I drink 4 - 5 litres per day (all-year-round) and have to break twice a night. Have just gotten used to it now. This may sound odd :shifty: ... but if I sleep with socks on I can go nearly the whole night. (Assume its something to do with the temp change in the room cooling down while I'm asleep). Not sure if it will help but you never know :)

Hi SS .. same here.. up and down like a bloody elevator!! But same as opti .. if I keep me feet warm, less bathroom breaks. This works during the day too

Thanks for all the helpful feedback, guys and, er...

Solution = catheda

the not so helpful feeback! Although, believe me, those thoughts have crossed my mind!

I suspected as much, in terms of it being all part of the fun of competing. I also suspect that the stress from studying on top of working full time on top of job hunting on top of the competing thing may also have something to do with it!

Thanks Optimass and TIM, I will definitely give the sock thing a go :nod:
