Sorry to be a butt-insky, but...GPP would be....?

GPP can replace cardio. There's more than one way to skin a cat etc. Traditional cardio isn't the only way to keep fit and burn calories.

Oooo I can answer this... just learnt myself today actually Ronin. clears throat.. General Physical Preparedness

Try wendler's 5-3-1 program. It's awesome and allows for a lot of variety as long as you're following the core of the program. I am loving it!

When I dabbled in competing (bodybuilding) a couple years ago, my workout was set up more like a powerlifting program. I got lean from cardio and diet. If you don't want to turn into a tub of lard, just make sure you don't stuff your face and sit on your ass :pfft:

good advice this too MG...Variety is good and the cycles are short (4 weeks or so) so you can see results pretty regularly...and you dont end up being a Russian Robot.

Sheiko is pretty powerlifting specific so may lack what you're after (or is it what TTis after  ) for figure shaping but wendlers, 5x5 and westside have plenty of room for variety and are well proven programmes. Some very experienced PL still use 5x5 as part of the training.

So far as being a fat PL - its a myth. some are, some arent too....some of the best lifters in this country are lean athletic PL..Jono Radich, the Burge bros, John Strachan etc...granted they are not super heavy weights but they still move ample tin for their size  Look at Ali Gasgoine - a little over 50kg and stronger than some men in the sport...PL and a BB in the off season

Thanks SG & Steak. hmmm just when i thought I had my mind made up :pfft:

am quite keen to have a look and compare the different programmes, see what might be best for me or what seems most appealing :D

Wow... Ali!!! She's super hot!!!!

Hope I didn't confuse you too much. I'm just very enthusiastic about it; the simplicity, the way it builds my confidence and the flexibility of it. It would be great for a beginner; I'm more an intermediate lifter, but I'm still getting great gains from it.
